    Advantages Advantages It's a toch phone....that's all

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too sensitive and bad operating system to be a decent touch phone

Ok, so I wanted a touch phone. Which one do I get? What was new and what was cheaper than the iPhone? I plumped for the Samsung Omnia (SGH-I900). And, I’ve regretted it ever since. I don’t want to write a full review; there’s plenty out there already. Plus, I don’t believe it deserves a full review as I wouldn't recommend buying this model. Why? Because it’s not a good touch phone and is very irritating to use! I had been used to stylus phones for a couple of years. Didn’t really love any but loved the idea. However, I wanted to go to the next step and throw away the stylus and use the ones ... more

    Advantages Advantages None

Disadvantages Disadvantages Terrible touchscreen, awkward operation and generally rubbish!

I got this phone because I had a good contract offer with Vodafone and while I really wanted an iPhone this was dubbed as the next best thing, the 'iPhone killer'. It's not. Compared to the iPhone this handset is very limited. I got the phone for £40 through Vodafone, with a £35 per month contract. The touchscreen created the biggest problems. It is unresponsive and slow, and very awkward. The stylus is available but I hate using them because they are fiddly and not really worth is with this phone. The battery life on this phone is terrible - it never seems to stay fully charged for more than ... more

3 Stars Quick review of Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia by Level 1 PravinM 18/01/2009
I got my new Samsung Omnia about a month ago, while the look and feel is great it seems a bit slower compared to my XDA IIs. Also I found the memory allocation can not be adjusted between programs and storage, on XDA you can easily do this. I have installed just 4 simple programs from SPB in My storage area yet the storage space in my device as dropped to 8Mb and about 52Mb for Programs!. If i recieve few emails that is the end of it I get messages saying I am low on Memory! Wish there was a ... more

Advantages Advantages Very good looking, loads of features

Disadvantages Disadvantages Screen scratches very easily, touch screen could be better

The Samsung Omnia is without a doubt a very good phone. I bought one on recommendation from a friend and am very pleased with it. The phone itself looks very good and is quite compact and light. There are absolutely loads of features, some of which I don't even use. MS Notebook, Powerpoint, Word and Excel are all very useful for carrying files instead of using a memory stick. Similarly, lots of mp3 files can be stored in the phone instead of using an mp3 player. These files can be played on the phone's own player, or on Windows Media Player. The camera on the phone is very good, as is the ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages looks good, Wifi, 5MP camera, plenty of storage

Disadvantages Disadvantages camera is awful, lags a lot, slow start up, no storage for stylus, bad battery life

The Samsung Omnia is one of those phones that looks perfect on paper. 5MP camera, lots of memory (8gb), Wifi, inbuilt MP3 player... it was all the things I had been looking for. But in reality, the Samsung Omnia is less than perfect. Pros: - It looks great, but is extremely prone to scratching I've found. - Packed with features - 5MP camera - 8gb of storage - Wifi - Speedy when it wants to be Cons: - The camera is terrible, image stabiliser does absolutely nothing and the quality is bad even on high - Lag's a lot - Takes a VERY long time to start up - No memory allocation - No storage for ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for email. Excellent touch screen. Large viewing screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages The battery seems to not last long if web browsing

I have had this phone for 5 monts now and could not live without it. I use it mainly for accessing my emails while out and about. It was easy to set this up with a Google Mail account and easy to use. I would say the phone is mainly for business use rather than just as a everyday phone. For this the connection with Microsoft products it excellent. I havent really used the music features as I tend to prefer my ipod. The camera gives clear pictures, easy to download straight to your pc. The phone looks good and the touch screen is very responsive. The only real complaint I have, is that the ... more

Advantages Advantages wifi, looks great and multitasks

Disadvantages Disadvantages hard to use, fiddly

Great, But Not All That Simple the Samsung Omnia (i900) being a Microsoft based phone is a large range, multitasking, computer based phone. with many features makes it keen to gadget users, however for people as not as high tech or want nothing more than to make a simple phone call its not really for you. The Omnia with many features and download features is great, as it comes standard with Microsoft products (such as Word Mobile, Excel Mobile) , many more features once set up such as gps and third party programmes and wifi connectivity makes it a good all rounder phone. however i feel that ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages good reception, fancy look, nice camera

Disadvantages Disadvantages hard to text, hard to use, stylus easy to lose.

In my opinion the Omnia is not a great phone. I got one recently and ended up going back to my old Samsung phone. I love texting but couldn't get to grips with having to use 2 hands to text and it seemed to keep lo keep locking me out when ever I needed to cancel a call or hang up. That may have just been my incompetence but I could only find one thing that worked well and that was the camera. Having the little sylus attached seems like a good idea but I was terrified I would lose it in my handbag or worse. Without the stylus working the phone was very difficult. I also found the scroll ... more
