Advantages: Thinner than K5, cool screen, more features Disadvantages: Screen balck is not completely dark, smudges easily.
Having owned several Samsung branded MP3 players over the years, I really enjoyed them so I decided to upgrade from their K5 mp3 player. I found this well built and very reliable (hardly ever crashed) and loved the portable slide out speaker. When the S5 was released a year later, also with slide out speaker, I thought this upgrade had to be a must.
I was right. I decided to go for more storage from a 2gb to an 8gb. The 8gb actually costs less than ... ...K5 missed and the few faults that the K5 had have been ironed out. The S5 now has album art, a prettier screen, video playback and bluetooth. Fair enough the screen doesn't go as dark as the K5's did, meaning it no longer becomes a seamless part of the front of the player, but it still looks stylish none of the less. The menus are more animated and the songs are better organised, with the option to display your music as folders or organised by their ...

Advantages: Bluetooth, great sound quality from both the speakers and earphones, smooth animations, sleek design Disadvantages: Visualisations are sluggish, software may not be compatible with Windows Vista
...also very impressed by the Samsung YP-S5. The design is sleek and modern and the buttons (while confusing to begin with) are simple and easy to use. Regarding the buttons, as I have never owned a touch screen device or one with touch sensitive areas, it is a tad strange using the buttons and having no tactile feedback. That said, if you are familiar with that kind of input method, feel free to ignore the previous sentence.
With so few MP3 players ... ...experienced two problems with the Samsung YP-S5. Firstly, the visualisations that play while a song is playing are very sluggish and are no where near as smooth as they are on the K5. And lastly, the software provided to allow transfer of media to and from the device tends to crash a lot. This could be a problem with Windows Vista compatibility but I thought I'd make people aware of it. Despite these problems, I'd still recommend the Samsung YP-S5. ...

Advantages: Excellent sound quality, stylish design, Fun interface Disadvantages: Small screen, smudges easy, pricier than other types of same calibre.
The Samsung YP-S5 is an update to the K5 that was released in 2006. The K5 had an unusual trait, a nifty built in speaker that was grouped with the actually mp3 player. This small and stylish player had very good sound considering and even the speaker was up to par for quality. The only downfall was the width of the player, at the time it was alot thicker than other mp3 players, but non the less it was good to be able to share your favorite music ... ...The YP-S5 on the other had still uses this unique trait of a speaker but throws in alot more support and softwar which the previous lacked. They have made the sound quality much higher and with the use of bluetooth, built in photo and video support, fm-Radio, a voice recorder and alarm clock the product has many more features that show its prowess on the mp3 market. This player also comes with a pair of earbuds that fit comfortably and securely in ...
