My SM experience

Advantages: Crisp, refreshing and thirst quenching
Disadvantages: Not a lot of character or complexity

...hard to find back home. SAN MIGUEL however, doesn't really fall into this category as it's widely available in supermarkets in the UK for around a quid a bottle. In fact Spain is not really the best country in the world to visit if your sole purpose is gorge on top quality, innovative brews...but the weather is a whole lot better than in Belgium, that's for double-damn sure. Yes sirree, it can get really hot under that Mediterranean sun and what ...
...From their website: "The San Miguel Corporation is the largest food and beverage company in the Philippines. They are responsible for brewing, under license, a wide range of beers for the Asian market. Beers such as: Miller Genuine Draft, Kirin, Lowenbrau and Carlsberg. San Miguel was first brewed in 1890 - under Spanish Royal Grant, but it wasn't until 1956 that it entered the Spanish market. Since then it has gone on to become one of Spain's top ...

Please say Hi to a very good friend of mine

Advantages: Great taste, Good price, Great mate!!!
Disadvantages: Might blow his top!

...Gentleman, my best mate, Mr. San Miguel! Now San is a man of many guises. I remember the time we were at that Bar-B-Q and San was acting the goat, dressing up in a 250ml bottle and piling on the strength until he was up to 5.4%. He it's his Spanish origin, and that whenever he's 'exported' abroad he seems to get stronger! Personally I thought he was talking a load of rubbish, but there's no stopping old San when he gets going. He really was on good ...
...it was just me but San seemed a bit taller when he'd got all dressed up in his party outfit of a 330ml bottle. Again, he packed a bit of a punch that night, but he was on top form that night, and very popular indeed. Everywhere I looked people seemed to have a piece of him, but they all seemed to be enjoying his company. But there's more to San than just a party animal. We had a great holiday once in Barcelona. San seemed to really fit in here, well ...

Stick in a lime. Stick in a lime.

Advantages: A refreshing tasty beer.
Disadvantages: Hard to track down at the offy.

...the cool refreshing taste of San Miguel. Most of you that have been on a Mediterranean Holiday will probably recognise the San Miguel Beer. It is a firm favourite in the resorts of Spain and the islands. It was more trendy in the early 90's with the "package holiday" brigade. Now, it is making a comeback. Brewed? Well, it is a spanish beer brewed in Spain, USA and the Philipines. However, it tastes more like a Mexican Beer with its light colouration ...
...place to get hold of San Miguel in my town are: The Mexican Restaurant. Along with Sol, these are essentials there. More about this later. Bottoms Up Off Licence sells it. Thresher does not stock it. Supermarkets. Tescos sells it for definite. Trendy Wine bars tend to sell it as opposed to local Pubs. It is more of a young persons drink and more likely to be found here. What to have it with... Now, you can drink your beer as it is or introduce ...

Viva Espagne

Advantages: Smooth and easy to drink
Disadvantages: Taste of preservatives initially

...the most well known is San Miguel. The Spanish beer industry dates back over a 100 years and San Miguel was first produced in 1957. The origins of San Miguel go all the way to the Philippines where Spanish monks started making beer by using traditional methods. The monks lived in Manila and in a district called “San Miguel”. This is how the name came about. Today San Miguel is not only Spain’s leading beer brand but also one ...
...Singapore several years ago. San Miguel accounts for around 80% of the total export of Spanish lager beer and is available quite freely throughout the U.K., be it in selected pubs, shops or on the Internet. As stated in one of my earlier opinions I travel quite frequently and one of my favourite destinations is Las Palmas, Canary Islands. Wherever I travel I try as much to sample the local brews and if I find it satisfactory will usually stick ...

A nice Light Lager

Advantages: Refreshing. Light. Pleasant Flavour
Disadvantages: A tad expensive

The origins of San Miguel go back to 1890 in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, and the brewery was founded by a Spaniard. Although San Miguel have a brewery in Spain it is regarded by many people in Asia as a famous beer from the Philippines. San Miguel has an alcohol content by volume(ABV) of 5.4% and is now quite widely available not only in Spain but also in the UK and a number of other countries in Europe,North America,India and other ...
...will have no difficulty finding San Miguel and this lager is a big selling brand in that region,as it is in Spain. It is certainly a refreshing drink and has a nice amber colour. It pours well and I personally prefer to drink it chilled, although it is still acceptable at room temperature. To me it has a light taste and Iwould consider it is broadly similar to the likes of Sapporo beer from Japan and some light beers that I have tried from China. ...

Beer from the Spanish Main - In Hereford

Advantages: Great genuine beer
Disadvantages: Accept no substitutes

...a degree of confusion about San Miguel Beer. I had thought originally that I was writing a review about one of the mainstream lager beers from Spain - San Miguel Premium Export lager. I have tasted it in its native country (both bottled and on draft) and thoroughly enjoyed both. When I started to do some background research I did find a web site for San Miguel beer - but from the Philippines. There is also a site giving the ten reasons why this ...
...of Diego Garcia!! Although San Miguel does have breweries in Spain it is regarded by many people in the rest of the world as a beer from the Philippines. Its origins go back to 1890 in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, when the brewery was founded by a Spaniard. THE TASTE TEST I started my practicals for the review a couple of months ago. It travels quite well and was available at both my local supermarkets – Sainsbury and Tesco (£ 8.18 ...

No more lager and lime

Advantages: strong and delicious
Disadvantages: your head the next morning

...green liquid!! Taste - San Miguel has a lovely, crisp taste without the bitterness on your palate. As with all beers it should be chilled, but I found that it doesn't taste too horrendous if it's not straight from the fridge. Packaging - It comes in 330ml brown bottles, the label has an 'old sytle Spanish' feel to it with red and green print. The shape of the bottle is pretty standard as far as beer bottles go. Strength - Although San Miguel ...
...for 4 bottles. The San Miguel that I'm actually drinking at the moment (mmmmmmmm!) is brewed in Hereford in the UK, not Spain, but it still tastes heavenly! The website address is www.sanmiguel.es, I'm not quite sure whether the website is in english as I had problems accessing the site. All in all San Miguel is a really nice beer, the bottle claims to be at the heart of a good party and I tend to agree, it brings a bit of sunshine into your life!! ...

San Miguel!

Advantages: reasonable strength, refreshing, tasty, cheap.
Disadvantages: not for repeated consumption.

San Miguel Premium is a very tasty lager beer thats got a really sweet, refreshing aftertaste that is great for the cash. If you fancy a bit of a change, it is definitely worth a try. Like any alcohol, it is best enjoyed in moderation. However this one moreso, as it starts to get a little bit sickly after the third or fourth pint. It is something to drink between different beers, if not on its own. -- Definitely not something you can drink all night. ...
...it is disproportionately cheaper than in a pub. It is available in ASDA and TESCO in both cans and bottles. It is thirst-quenching and best served chilled and is often enjoyed in hot climates. As the name may have led you to believe, it is very popular in Spain and is the strongest export of Spanish Beer. 4%. ABV. Summary: A fine Spanish Beer, best enjoyed in moderation. ...

Strike it off the list of great beers

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: yet another bland beer to add to the already long list

...malty and hoppy beer called San Miguel whilst on holiday in Spain. Often I buy a bottle from my local supermarket in the UK so as to remind myself of holidays long gone. On the last two ocassions I have been dissapointed though as I have found it to have virtually no flavour and rather than a pleasant aftertaste it left a faintly nasty taste in my mouth. I note that this famous beer is now brewed in the UK rather than Spain hence would guess that ...

The best

Advantages: Crisp, refreshing taste with a kick
Disadvantages: More pricey than other beers

...down to cheap fags and San Miguel. Dont forget, at that time a lot of the beers produced in the UK hadnt got the percentage of alcahol that the continental lagers had, so uncle walter who could shift a dozen bottles of pale ale, found himself on the floor with half the ammount of San Miguel. I was weaned on the stuff and havnt changed to this day. It has a taste on its own that has to be enjoyed ice cold, no other way will do, and it needs to ...
...The problem is that these days it is not imported, as it is brewed under licence in UK, but let me tell you a secret. The one litre bottles are genuine spanish, and are imported, so if you want the 100% genuine, authentic taste of the spanish yesteryears, go for those as opposed to the 330 ml bottles. Its not the cheapest beer on the shelves, but there are few that compete. ...

San Awful

Advantages: Does somethings fine, nice bottle (i guess)
Disadvantages: Cost (can be high), taste, quality, value for money

I must ask what others see in this over-rated drink, i think it's ranked 5th best premium lager on a ciao.co.uk, I can't for the life of me understand why. I won't be all negative as their is the odd good thing, but on the whole it's really not. The cost, an often complaint of the drink wasn't a problem for me as the shop was selling it rather cheaply (8 bottle for £5) and the bottle design does look quite nice. As well as a recently filmed advert ...
...Erik Morales and Manny Pacquaio on) I really do think that is where the advantages end. You open the brown bottle containing a 5% "premium" lager take a mouthful and wonder how they can call it a premium, it has a rustic harsh taste much like the cheap lagers (Carling/Carlsberg). Even a 1%+ more alcohol per bottle doesn't seem to save it from feeling like a poor mans premium drink. Either way of drinking (sipping or trying to neck gobfuls) doesnt ...

San Miguel is not for me

Advantages: its wet
Disadvantages: everything

San miguel is an international premium lager is discribed on the bottle as From Seville to Barcelona, the uniquely refreshing taste of San Miguel is at the heart of a great night out. Now, spain's most loved export is enjoyed by millions the world over. Salud! San Miguel comes in a 330ml bottle with a ALC 5,0% VOL it then goes on to state that it is brewed in the UK. at Scottish & Newcastle in Edinburgh. Wait a moment I hear you say I thought ...
...San Miguel contains Barley and Wheat and when brewed in Edinburgh it has Scottish water in it not Spanish Its seems to me that if a beer is said to be imported it should come from that country and not from 7 miles down the road from where I live Into the bargain Although there is a taste of beer in the bottle, it is more like a carbonated drink, if I wanted a carbonated drink I would have got a bottle of coke. But that is just my opinion. Maybe ...

San Miguel (The road to Damascus)

Advantages: Taste & Alcohol Content
Disadvantages: Premium Lager = Premium Price

...quaffed my first bottle of San Miguel. It was not the last by a long chalk. The golden colour pleased me; the flavour is the best I have tasted. The aroma is slightly hoppy, which I like, and the taste is satisfying and extremely refreshing. The creamy white head lasted as long as it took me to drink the first one. I usually drink lagers from the bottle, as this seems to improve the taste or at least reduce the aftertaste. The alcohol content of ...

Its nice outside so crack open a beer

Advantages: Fantastic tasting beer
Disadvantages: Tastes better when sunny

...and had a bottle of San Miguel and it was great (I didn't have any lime though unfortunately!) I reckon that San Miguel is a beer that was made to be drunk whilst it is sunny. It just doesn't taste the same in any other climactic conditions! This has a more powerful taste I think than other bottled premium lagers such as Budweiser. It tastes more "hopy" that chemically which I think is a good thing. It is also 5% volume so once you've had a few ...

Spanish summer supremo

Advantages: Light, crisp, summery and tasty.
Disadvantages: It's not Australian

...Becks, and this, the Spanish San Miguel. Closer in taste to the Australian premium lagers than any other continental competitor, San Miguel is light, crisp and extremely drinkable. It's also one of the best summer beers available, and easily put away - you'll have had two or three before you notice the empty bottles building up around your feet. Leagues ahead of any of its Euro-competitors, San Miguel is the ideal sup for the summer get-together, ...
