Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG65EX

The Xacti CG65 adopts the MPEG-4 high compression and recording format that enables VGA-size (640 x 480 video clips at 30 fps). The smaller sized files are easy to handle and... more...enable many hours of high quality recording. Users can enjoy the beautiful quality on big screen TV's too. Audio recording uses the AAC-LC (MPEG-4 Audio) file format that delivers higher compression than MP3 and other earlier formats, thus giving users small sized files. Digital produced high quality stereo is obtained by 2-channel 16-bit recording at 48 khz. Also, the CG65 is SDHC-compatible, which means that you can record movies for up to four hours on a 4GB SDHC memory card. The CG65 incorporates a 1/2.5 inch CCD of 6.37 megapixel (total). Using 9-image mixing technology, it enables low noise movies at 9x sensitivity. It can capture DVD-like VGA video clips or high quality 6M stills. While recording video footage, still pictures can be taken by simply pressing the shutter button. The CG6 can simultaneously record VGA-size (640 x 480) video clips and 6M stills. While recording video, memories of a special instant can be preserved forever without missing that golden opportunity to capture it as a still picture image. Weighing in at just 67.7 x 34.5 x 100.3 mm (W x H x D) in size and 149g in weight (body only), the CG65 can be easily carried anywhere and pictures can be taken on a whim anytime. This portable digital movie camera is designed to go with you everywhere all the time. It is styled to a casual form with an active flare and is well balanced to enable picture-taking with one hand. The vertical body lets users retain a natural posture in recording without stressing the wrist or shaking. Using the 9-image Display Function feature, users can quickly search for specific images. And with the Slideshow feature, images can be played back continuously. The Art Mode can be used to add a little fun to image playback. Moreover, movies can be easily edited from the camera itself. Another great feature is the time bar. It serves as a visual tool that makes it easier to splice multiple scenes together or cut unwanted images form clips. It also helps to effectively use SD memory card capacity and can be used to extract still frames from movies. A large 2.5-inch TFT LCD monitor is built into the compact body. The large screen makes it easier to see and confirm images before and after taking the picture. The monitor itself can rotate approximately 290 degrees, so it can be to the user's preferred shooting posture whether at a high/low angle, or turned to see ones self. Images can be captured immediately opening the LCD monitor, so you should never miss photo opportunities again. Digital recording eliminates any winding associated with tapes, making it possible to take and view images in an instant whenever you want.

Sanyo CG65 - A Jack of All Trades, Master of None!

Advantages: Excellent Form Factor, Fairly Decent Stills, Voice Guidance , Good Video In Good Lighting.
Disadvantages: Poor Quality in Low Light, Battery life Could be Better!

...utilities, and a 780mah li-on sanyo battery which is supposedly good for around 60 minutes use. There is no viewfinder, so this is quoted with teh LCD screen on for framing shots. be aware there is only 18mb internal memory, but the camera supports SDHC memory cards currently up to 8gb in size, i stuck a 2gb transfllash into mine using an adaptor. The battery comes with its own external charger, or you can charge the camera throguh the dock. So ...
...was eager to hook the sanyo up and test out what i'd snapped. To be honest - photographs were very good with adequate lighting, they were detailed and with relatively little digital noise in the image. Iso is also automatically adjusted well, and images shot in darker areas still came out well. The only catch is at the far end of the 5x optical zoom, the camera can struggle to focus, resulting in a blurry shot if you persist to take it. If I have ...
