Advantages Advantages Soothing. Easy to apply. Kids seem to trust it.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Strong antiseptic smell. Can be dangerous in the hands of children or those with mental disabilities

Savlon Antiseptic Cream Using Savlon Antiseptic Cream Ever since I was a little lad, going back over thirty years, one of the constant sources of comfort for me when I have cut or grazed myself, has been Savlon antiseptic cream. Ok it was in a different form at the time but by the time Novartis took over the product and its packaging it was already planted in my head with a nostalgic devotion of sorts. Now, don't get me wrong, there is nothing that a thick wad of butter, daubed onto a cartoon bump on a crying child's head, cannot sort out, but sometimes as a child you want something so ... more

Savlon Antiseptic Cream has been a vital component in our first aid box for many a year. And prior to that, I always remember there being a tube in my mum's medicine cabinet. It's just one of those things that I have to have in there, alongside the plasters and TCP. It's a brand that I trust, having been bought up with it in this way, and, whereas I tend to try out the less expensive supermarket own brands for most things, I am always happy to pay the extra pennies for a tube of Savlon. THE CREAM Savlon market the product as 'the nation's favourite blue tube', so it will not surprise you that ... more

Advantages Advantages Prevents infections, Can be used for a lot of different problems

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stops infections but makes you smell like an infection in the process!

Before my daughter was born all we had in our house was the odd packet of paracetamol and the odd loose plaster lying around. To admit we weren't very health conscious would be an understatement! Since then we have built up a very large first aid bag, admittedly some of the stuff I have bought could may as well be deemed useless as I wouldn't know what to do with it anyway, but it is always better to be prepared for the worst rather than not have anything at all. Price and availability I don't think there was a particular reason why I decided to buy Savlon out of all of the other brands of ... more

Advantages Advantages works well and is multi purpose

Disadvantages Disadvantages none for us, but remember to only use it for minor ailments

Having a 3 year old who can often get into accidents it is essential to have a little kit at home for when unexpected cuts and scrapes occur. One of the products we own is this Savlon antiseptic cream. Savlon can be bought in a number of quantities; 15g, 30g, 60g and 100g. I was fortunate to actually pick up a decent 60g tube in my local poundstore so looking to stock up I bought 2! The cream comes packaged in a blue cardboard box so it it's always easy to spot on the shelf in stores. The tube looks like a usual little tube of cream with a white screw on cap so it can be reused time and time ... more

    Advantages Advantages Heals irritations.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

We all break out in pimples and blemishes at sometime or other and I am no different, even though I always take very good care of my skin and eat healthily most of the time, I often scratch my skin with my nails as they are quite long and if they are not filed or need trimming I often find myself with scratch marks on my body as I sometimes tend to scratch myself during my sleep. I have to use an antiseptic cream to heal them as they can be so annoying, even though the scratch is tiny it can sting and be sore too. This antiseptic cream comes in a tube with a screw off top and inside it is a ... more

Years ago I remember households practically being split into two when it came to the likes of antiseptic creams - there was the 'Pink' team of good old Germolene, and then there was the 'Blue' team of Savlon. Some households even - shock horror - kept both in their medicine cabinets! We were always one of those families that used both, so when I moved into my own home I bought the same kind of products I'd been used to at home and Savlon (plus Germolene) became a regular in my own bathroom cabinet. So what is it? This is deemed "..the nation's favourite blue tube.." according to their official ... more

Advantages Advantages Works well, easily absorbed and doesn't stink

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dries on skin a little tight (on the face)

I am terribly clumsy! I'm always bumping into things and getting cut open or cutting myself shaving so the other day when I was in Boots (as usual lol) I decided to get this and give it a trial. I usually purchase Germolene but to be honest the smell of that of late has really got to me and I feel it stinks so basically I was looking for an alternative to shove in my handbag! The Packaging: The tube of cream comes in a blue box and on two sides of that I'm told it is Savlon Antiseptic Cream all in white writing. Other information on the box tells me what the product can be used for, directions ... more

Advantages Advantages It's good value... and it works!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me!

There are a few things that don't always occur to me when it comes to running my household and I'm afraid to say that keeping a well-stocked and up to date first aid kit is usually one of them. This means that whenever there is a 'bit of an accident' in our house a bit of panic ensues... Due to a bit of an 'incident' my other half had a while back whilst slicing a loaf of bread (don't ask!!) my attention was drawn once again to the lack of suitable stuffs I had in our house for cuts and grazes. The next time I was in my local Savers discounted drugstore I therefore decided to stock up on a few ... more

Savlon rave that they are the nations favourite antiseptic cream and indeed the brand is very popular. When something is reliable and good quality people will keep buying it, after all we will never stop having all those trips, slips and falls, so we will always need something to rub on our bumps and grazes. I guess when you are brought up with a brand and your parents trust it, it rubs off on you. I can always remember the famous blue tube in my mum’s medicine box and now it is in mine too. Price and availability A 60g tube usually costs about £1.60. You can buy the cream in the following ... more

I have always had Savlon Antiseptic Cream in my First Aid Kit for many years now. Not the same tube obviously, but it is something I imagine a lot of others have, too. For those of you that havn't used the product, perhaps you will be impressed by it enough to want to try it for yourself. Savlon is a brand that I trust, my parents having used the product on me regularly when I were a yongster. Often it is worth saving money by buying a supermarket branded product, but when looking for antiseptic cream Savlon is definitely the brand to look out for.Savlon Antiseptic Cream The product is ... more
