Disadvantages Disadvantages Costs a fortune and information is outdated and of poor qaulity.

I did the scheidegger PC Master course and I so wish I hadn't. Basically this is how it works. You respond to a paper add claiming you can earn £20,000 a year as a Pc technician, A salesman comes to your house a pretends that you might not be good enough to get into their college as they are fairly selective, making you want to join to avoid rejection. He lies and tells you that you will become Comptia A+ certified if you do the course. He tells you it involves having your own instructor, getting lots of multi media training and in depth technical information, attending practical training days ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Coarse Material out of date

I am so glad I did some research on my future decision for going for a coarse. I recently made enquiries into 2 companies for a coarse one of which was Skills Train. If they are formerly , Scheidegger I won't be going ahead with them now. I had a bad experience with Scheidegger about a year and half ago. I enrolled on a Web Design Managers coarse, the "Advisor" gave a sales pitch stating that you get a personal tutor with a team of 5 back up tutors, this was not the case, it took a few times to actually get through on the phone and it came across as a call center as opposed to a teaching ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages a very unpleasent feeling

I recently signed with Skillstrain and subsequently realised I was told many lies and half truths. I was incorrectly lead to beleive I would be sponsored and after a 3 hour interview I miraculously 'passed' their aptitude test and was 'offered a place on the course'. It seems I was only just 'lucky' to get in. I can't begin to tell you what was said but among the lies was that only people over 35, that there was 5 local tutors and that Skillstrain were affiliated to Pitmans (the site I clicked), and that Skillstrain were connected to government and therefore not a private company. I was asked ... more

Advantages Advantages You can study at home

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not widely recognised

I wasn't impressed by the Scheidegger course I did (Information Technology). A lot of it I already knew, and the stuff that I didn't know, I found it difficult to get help with when I needed it. There was pathetically little hands-on computer work, but worst of all, since finishing the course, I've found that no-one has heard of Scheidegger and my "qualification" is not worth the paper it's printed on. I'm sorry to be so damning but I really felt that I wasted my time. I suggest that anyone thinking of taking out one of their courses (which are hyped by door-to-door sales reps who call ... more

Advantages Advantages Home learning is a real bonus

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Sales pitch sucks.

Sales pitch all the way. A lady turned up in a very nice looking Mercedes, well dressed and very professional looking. I won't go into too much detail but she sat for over an hour doing my heading. Despite me knowing exactly what I want to do, how I want to do it, what/who/where I want to get a job after the training and despite the training I require only costing roughly £500 she insisted that I couldn't just take up the one training course.... Noooo, I had to take up 4 at a total cost of £3276. Yeah, right. I played along with her and agreed that this would be a good route, then when she ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Deception from the outset

I have recently had the misfortune of enrolling on a PC Engineering & Networking course with Scheidegger. All was going well (Until recently). I was onto my 3rd Assignment with all hopes of a brighter future but then Scheidegger were revealed for what they are. From the moment the Sales man arrived at my house i felt he was trying to make me believe that i would be honoured if i made it onto their course. The whole time at my house he was withholding important information and giving incorrect information. I completed the usual written test as everyone does and passed with flying colors. He ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hidden Costs, Poor Tutor Support.

I have been studying Computersised Bookkeeping with Scheidegger since June '03, tutor support hasn't been great. I find that I have got behind in my studies due to my tutor often taking too long to send my previous assignment back to me.. As the current part of my course is computersied I cannot even go onto the next unit, until I have my previous assignment back,to correct any potential errors. But my biggest shock came just a week ago. The course fee is £1065.00 a lot of money that I can barely afford. I was recently told to apply for an extension,I did so and have ended up paying them ... more

Advantages Advantages Material looks polished and professional

Disadvantages Disadvantages Looks can be deceiving

I saw the Skills Train advert on TV - looked great so I sent for info. Next thing I know there is a 'salesman' on my doorstep. After what seemed like ages, I had been talked through the details of the course I was interested in and agreed to sign up. At the sign up point I should in hindsight have told the guy to go away - to sign up you have to agree to a finance contract for the full amount of the course - you effectively take out a loan for the full cost of the course - the finance company is closely linked to Scheidegger so you become locked into the course and are unable to quit without ... more
