5 Stars Liven up your hair! Review with images 22/10/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Vibrant and shiny red hair, retains colour and contains colour shield conditioner.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Whether it is a good or bad thing, you may not get the colour you expected.

I accidently dyed my hair a horrendous pillar-box red when I was a teenager and ever since then I promised myself I’d never dye my hair by myself again. I’ve stuck to salons and proper hairdressers since; keen to cover up the ugly natural hair colour I grew into – a weary combination of very dark blonde and grey light brown. For the past few years I had my mum’s friend dye and cut my hair for a cheap £25. When she decided to open up her own salon, her prices shot up and I didn’t really want to pay salon prices for a simple all-over colour and trim. I’d much rather save up my money for ... more

Advantages Advantages cheaper than the hair dressers and bright

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be messy if not used to dying your hair

My hair - well what can I say. Long, naturally wavy but I straighten it a lot; my natural hair colour is mousey brown but I have been dying it since my teens in a barrage of colours, browns, reds, purples, blondes in varying degrees and mixtures. My product of choice is Schwarzkopf Live XXL. This is not to say I don’t use other brands, but I like the vibrancy this brand gives me and the last ability. Available from most larger supermarkets and chemists for around £4.80 - £5.50 each ***THE BRAND*** Schwarzkopf brand is a Germany based company that has been around for 11 years! They are ... more

Advantages Advantages Leaves hair in good condition, easily and cheaply available, bright colours

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be messy to apply, fades, stains pillowcases!

Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL is a range of hair dyes from Schwarzkopf, a company known for its value for money hair products. The Color XXL range is all about strong and bright colours - red, blue, purple, platinum blonde and deep black - with cool names. For a few months I used this dye in Cosmic Blue (shade 90). The range is available in Boots, Superdrug, Bodycare, Savers, and many supermarkets. A pack of this hair dye will set you back between £3.50 and £5, depending on where you buy it as well as whether or not it's on special offer. I got my latest one from Bodycare at a price of £3.79 ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy application, nice smell, great results

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lower quality gloves, slightly runny

I've been colouring my hair since my early teenage years - well, technically my mum has as, luckily enough for me, she was a hairdresser (now retired and living the high life!). I've been pretty much every shade out there and tried lots of different hair colour products, however i've always tended to lean towards the more alternative/unnatural shades such as deep purples, reds, pinks and blues. After moving a fair distance away from my parents (boo!) i'd started colouring on my own using brands bought from Camden Market such as Stargazer, for so called bright and dazzling effects. These ... more

Advantages Advantages Great colour, shine, and condition, easy to apply, cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite time-consuming, may need to buy more products to keep colour as you want it

The Product Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL is available to buy from most health and beauty retailers, such as boots and super drug, as well as selected supermarkets. It generally retails at around £4.79, but I pick mine up in body care for £3.49. Why I Bought It My hair is naturally the kind of golden blonde that prompts compliments from complete strangers, and I’ve never previously dyed it at all. So, after deciding I wanted a change, getting it cut into a chin-length choppy bob, and listening to my hairdresser bang on about how lovely my natural colour is for the best part of an hour, I decided ... more

Schwarzkopf is a huge name in the hair care industry producing hair colourants, shampoo conditioners and styling products. I have light brown hair naturally which I have always found to be somewhat bland and rather boring. I much prefer an unusual vibrant colour and have mainly alternated between, pink, purple and red over the past years. Live color is a brand that I have been using for a good few years now, mainly due to the range of shades and colours available but also because of the quality of the product. I have always found them very easy to use and I am always happy with the results and ... more

Advantages Advantages I feel young(ish) again

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be messy if doing alone !

Ok, i'm just about to hit smack bang into my 40th birthday, and yes I always said I would grow old gracefully and accept my grey hair for what it was.... natural beauty and mother nature allowing people to see that you are knowledgable through the years of time.... but now I have a very prominant band of grey hair growing around my hair line like a very drab alice band, I retract everything I said..... show me the hair dye section of the shop NOW !!!! I admit I am clinging on by my fingernails to my youth, my body has gone south quite dramatically, I can't afford a body lift. My wrinkled face ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages Considering how dark my hair was it did lighten it quite well, left my hair in good condition

Disadvantages Disadvantages Nowhere near the lightening power advertised, you don't get much at all, tear-iducing smell!

    * Why I Bought this Product* You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning, see your monstrous roots and think - ah. Something needs to be done about this. I had been having my short, naturally medium brown hair highlighted all over to a nice, light golden blonde colour professionally, but the last time I went in for a root touch up all I got was colour highlights. Because of this my roots weren't changed at all, only to be tinted very slightly. This was not what I paid for, however I can't complain too much as the rest of my hair went a lovely soft gold colour. Still, it didn't solve ... more

Advantages Advantages not too expensive, good quality product, clear packaging

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could do with more nutrients in to protect the hair and keep it shiny

Recently I decided I wanted to change my hair colour, but to something dramatic and a bit more daring than what I would usually die it which is brunette. I chose red after looking at pictures of models with red hair and deciding I really liked the look. I bought a brown hair dye at the same time as this as a back up just in case I didn't like it, but more than anything I just wanted to experience the adrenaline and excitement of having a really drastic, bold hair colour. I felt nervous but very excited about what my new hair colour would look like. I chose this particular hair dye as when I ... more

I often colour my hair and have tried quite a few different hair dyes, but the one I keep returning to is Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL and when it is on offer at a promotional price anywhere I always buy one. By purchasing these when they are on offer, you can usually save two or three pounds on the RRP. I purchased one recently at Morrisons for just over £3. Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL have a range of vibrant shades of hair dye offering something a little different to other brands. They seem to be marketed for younger people with their range of reds, purple and blue, but they also have shades ... more
