    Advantages Advantages Great Value

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit bland if you don't like German cars

When we were looking round for a new car our main prioirty was reliabilty and practicality. Top of our list was an Audi A3. Being part of the VW group we also decided to look at the Golf and eventually the Seat. Basically the engine and gear box are exactly the same in the 1.6 version for all 3 cars. The Golf has a different interior but the A3 and Seat were identical, with the exception that the Audi had a leather steering wheel with 4 rings in the middle!! Even the switches and dials were the same. I come from Yorkshire and we're a bit tight here so I did a bit of digging. The Audi cost over ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish, cheap and great value for money

Disadvantages Disadvantages Would prefer a bigger engine

I have had my Seat leon from when it was three moinths old for the last two years and it is a beautiful car. when purchasing it I was considering buying a Golf however upon taking a Golf for a test drive I found that there wasn't much I liked about it. I have the basic S model Leon with a slight upgrade to a single CD player. I paid £9k for it with 3k on the clock and for the same price I could get a X reg Golf therefore the Leon shows much better value for money. The seating is more comfortable than the Golf. I'm farily short but the leon seats hold your position well and nicely rest just ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages engine size

We owned the Seat Ibiza 1.9d for over 6 years and were more than satisfied with the Seat brand. We decided to upgrade and didn't hesitate in looking for another Seat. This time we wanted a model which was slighter bigger especially the boot and the Leon fitted our requirements. We only have the basic 1.6s model which is an ideal family car. It has plenty of leg room even in the back and that all important boot space especially as we are a family of four and there is enough room for all the bags when we have been on a shopping trip or day out. The car was about eleven months old when we ... more

Advantages Advantages lot of VW Audi parts A3 / Golf interior

    Disadvantages Disadvantages reliability

I have owned my Leon for 4 years now and loved the German styling the Audi A3 bits like the door mirrors, handles hand brake and the Audi A4 dash. I liked the firm seat that you get with German cars and what I though would be good old German engineering. The first thing to go wrong was the windscreen. In all I think I had 4 fitted all under warranty. I just kept getting cracks appearing in the glass on the near side. There was no sign of impact just cracks coming from nowhere. The next thing to go wrong was a coil failed (common problem I am told) so I had all 4 replaced at my expense. I have ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Seat Leon 1.6 by suelr13 18/09/2007
I am on my second one of these and I love them! Good size, good value for money, good warranty, reliable, punchy acceleration, handles well, some parts the same as an Audi A3 and a Golf. Looks good and handles well. Very effective air bags- may well have saved my life. A great medium sized car!

Advantages Advantages Great price for a quality car

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Customer Service lacks

Buying a brand new car is a very big decision. When i was deciding on the car I would get Seat came to mind. The car looks unique to others, it is at an affordable price, and the quality is superb. Seat is owned by Volkswagen and since Volkswagen has such a good reputation, I though this was a bonus. Basically the Seat Leon is a VW Golf, under the hood that is. The price we paid for our new car was very reasonable considering all the extras that were thrown in, electric sunroof, air con., electric windows, and a cd player fitted. I have had the car for a year now and have had no meachanical ... more
