Advantages: Superb value for money, stylish, great performance, Comfortable Disadvantages: Features, interior finish
Car - SEAT Leon
Year of Registration - 2005
Model - 1.9 TDi S (90bhp)
Colour - Silver
This car encompasses the looks and appearance of a high end luxury hatchback, and the performance of a smaller hot hatch.
It looks well built and has the comforting appearance of being a strong car.
I have driven the 'S' model of this car for over 3 months now, and I cannot fault it in any shape or form. The fact that it is a diesel engine should not put anybody ... ...the car to a non SEAT garage, especially if they have never worked on one before.
The interior controls on the console are all within easy reach of the driver. The dials are lit all the time, so when you drive through a tunnel or through a heavily shaded road, you'll suddenly see you dash board light up a sharp reddy/orange. This is a great feature, allowing you to always see what is going on. The steering is superbly responsive, it always feel ...

Advantages: Outstanding Torque, Performance, Economy, Sporty (FR model) Disadvantages: Not as solid as Audi
...Overview
=======
The Seat Leon FR looks quite sporty, fr badges, lowered suspension (very very hard btw) sprts bumpers especially at the rear. Firmer seats but really you are buying an engine. Nice 17" alloy wheels though they are not as good as the 18" Cupra alloys (Petrol cupra - note the new FR's come with these alloys!! excellent move by seat). The turbo on this car is great with a very loud whistle which you hear even inside car with windows ... ...The car has so much torque it is scary. This car wheels-spins in 2nd and 3rd in a straight line and not just on corners. 2nd gear is a joy. You can come off a slip road and be at 60mph in a shot. 40-80mph is absurdly quick too. Economy
=======
Fuel economy is important. My audi a3 new was bleeding me dry (24mpg avg with 240miles for full tank). My FR averages 30-50 mpg which his great given my style of driving. 400-500 for a tank. I've managed ...

Advantages: torquey engine, easy run Disadvantages: could be a little tighter on corners
i have owned my seat leon tdi (90) for a year now. the car is easy on diesel, easily allowing me to achieve around 600 miles on a full tank. the seat leon looks good although in electric blue scratches can become evident very easily.
in terms of power the car is lively and revs well especially when the turbo kicks in at around 1500-2000RPM meaning that during normal driving the power is on tap without having to change down a gear.
sometimes in ... ...little unforgiving but i guess that could just be my driving style!
one thing i would say is be cautious of the 60,000 mile service as this will prove costly at a dealer-timing belt, water pump and ancilleries all need changing-but essential for the cars life.
i have read a lot of complaints about doors leaking-i can see how this is a problem as the doors hold qite a bit of water therefore if seals weaken its all going into the footwell.... i simply ...

Advantages: Massive economy, handles well, good reliability, solid, great value for money. Disadvantages: Lacking a little power, some trouble with cold starts, slight problem on door seal.
Well it is a bit boring, but it's not bad compromise considering the benefits. The economy, quality and second hand price more than make up for the fact it's not exactly a race car. At about 50-60 mpg, I can hardly blame it if it isn't terrifyingly quick, though the fact it handles pretty well lets you have some fun on those narrow, twisting country roads. It's a great all-rounder with only a couple of let downs. Although I adored my previous car, ... ...the petrol station every 3 or 4 days, having only covered a couple of hundred miles, and throwing more money down the drain. It was time for a change and after many hours trawling the net, the leon seemed like an attractive option. It hasn't disappointed me and although it has less soul and character than some other cars I've had, it is impossible to dislike a car that is this economical. Performance: As I said, it's not staggeringly fast in a straight ...

Advantages: Smooth, Powerful, Economical to run, Stylish Disadvantages: Watch out for low kerbs
I bought my Leon FR 1.9 TDI 150 about 3 months ago now. I had initially gone to the showroom to look at Ibizas because they have a good reputation, but fell in love with the Leon once I'd taken it for a test drive.
I haven't driven the other models besides the FR, so can't comment on those. The FR though is one hell of a lot of car for your money. Its as powerful as just about anything else under £22,000, but a lot cheaper. The drive is smooth and ... ...control over it's excellent engine. Having said that you'll find that you probably use your gearstick less than previously, because the car has so much torque. No longer do you need to drop down a gear before overtaking, just touch the accelerator, and all the power you need is there for you in your existing gear.
The specification is another area where this car punches well above its price tag. With 4 electric windows, high quality 6 speaker CD ...

Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: It isn't a Ferrari
My Dad bought one of these befire the new model came out. So he got it cheap and with a full body kit. It has a great engine that growls like a Tiger. And it kept up and beat a Porsche Boxster getting out of some traffic lights. My Dad says that he has driven 50,000 miles with and it's still going strong and he also still gets excited when it accelerates. And it's good for a family car, my family of 5 can fit in there without it getting hot and sticky ...

Advantages: excellent perfomance, economy and refinment. Very good build quality. Disadvantages: lack of rear leg room. Under damped front suspension. low underside can catch on speed humps etc.
...a worthy alternative to the Golf, Focus or Astra.
I have also found that the interior is very resistant to wear, after 1 year and 24,000 miles the seat don't have any wear marks or sagging that can effect some cars. My car is a 2000 X-reg 1.9SE TDi 110. ...

Advantages: fuel ecconomy - comfortable driving position - fantastic extras Disadvantages: the shape isn't great - dosn't really have the pazzaz!
...Then I had a Seat Leon as a hire car for work and it was lovley. The speed you woulnd't believe was a diesel. It was soo comfortable, the air con was brilliant, the space in the boot for such a small car was awesome, it was just such a pleasure to drive. The fuel acconomy was fantastic - on £37 I did a trip of 496 miles! I would recomend this car completly. The only down side is the outside really. Although it's very nice it just dosn't have that ...

Advantages: Good engine Disadvantages: All the rest
Problems:Leaking doors, leaking headlights, leaking rear lights, leaking fog lights, dust in paint, dashboardlights failed, clutch pedal mad scraping sounds, rattling in the rear, rattling from the dashboard, booth lock broke, all kind off electrical faults and to make things worse, a dealer who is to stupid to service a push bike.
The build quality of the Leon is a shame, customer support is a dissaster and the dealer is plane stupid. In 10 months ... ...I had to drive there 11 times (60 miles return trip). When you need parts for this car (and you will) it takes months for them to arrive and when they are finaly there, they are often broken in transport or by the dealer himself. Do yourself a favour and never ever buy a Leon. ...
