...was convinced, and bought the Sebo vac.
Loaded it into my (French!) car and was eager to see it eat the carpet mine-field.
In usual male style, I cast aside the instructions, and used macho instinct to get it set up and going. Bit of a mistake maybe, but it is quite straightforward to follow the guide. The bag can be a bit tricky, so do scan the booklet.
So, a bit about the machine, it boasts 1300 watts; a good standard, and is a quite comfortable ... ...often.
The capacity of a Sebo bag is over 5 litres, compared to the 3 litre Dyson cylinder. Not being the chancellor of the exchequer, I cannot forecast a long-term saving/investment return on this! I've only had this machine for 4 months.
I had to change the bag after three weeks, quite satisfying really to know that the £200 was giving me such good suction. On that note, the Sebo has a warning light to tell you that the bag is full, and another ...

Quick review of Sebo X4EXTRA
This Sebo vacuum is the best I have ever had. We are a big family 6 of us plus 2 dogs and a cat, our house is very large and doing the vacuuming has always been such a chore.
No longer though, this vacuum sucks up everything with ease, the carpets look new once I have fininshed the hoovering, and as it automaticaly adjusts to hard flooring, I can wizz through the house. I love the way it moves along, I don't have to push it, it kind of moves on it's own!
I will never be guided by marketing again, I fell for the Dyson hype and was very dissapointed. The Sebo is far better. ...

Advantages: Robust, powerful, does the job, high quality Disadvantages: heavier than others
...you've probably noticed that the Sebo is the choice of housekeepers around the world. Why? because it does the job better than any other vacuum cleaner. These machines are powerful and get the job done. We used to have a Dyson, which bit the dust (pardon the pun), and this is when I chose the Sebo as a replacement. In my household its been determined that along with putting out the rubbish, vacuuming is a man's job?! Hence, I chose the vacuum cleaner ... ...The cable on a Sebo is longer than most others in my experience which means you haven't got to keep stopping and starting, saving you precious Match-of-the-day time. The machine automatically adjusts its height to the type of flooring, moving effortlessly between wood laminate, carpet and rugs. Dust bags for these machines are available everywhere and clip in really easy, although go for the Sebo brand unless you want them splitting all over you. ...

Advantages: Excellent suction power Disadvantages: Price but cheaper bought off the internet
This vacuum cleaner lives up to its reviews. Lightish (lighter than my old sanyo and my kirby), excellent suction for cleaning as good as a kirby as I have to deal with dog and cat hairs as well as family. Easy to put together. Throw away your bagless cleaners and get one of these. No more dust flying into your face and if like me you empty contents into a bag before disposing it in the bin then what's the point of bagless? Automatic shut down if ... ...from nowhere! A 5 year parts and labour guarantee if still unsure but from all the reviews I've read you won't need to use it.. I also visited stores to have a closer inspection and one of them actually used this model in the store what more of a recommendation can you get than that. ...

Advantages: Good suction Disadvantages: Heavy, bulky, can't reach edges or corners, terrible cable
Technically i don't own this, i clean an office part time and recently the old hoover broke so the company decided to invest in this model. It cost £249 from John Lewis and came with a handy 5 year guarantee. The hoover uses hoover bags, which is definitely a down side. It was easy enough to assemble. The on/off switch is easy to reach on the front of the handle. It has an extra extendable hoose part to get at corners and skirting boards etc but ... ...reach edges of places itself and that i constantly have to get the hoose part out. It is really very bulky and difficult to manouver. Another negative is the cable! its ridiculous, you can't unwind just a small amount, if you try to you have to sort of 'hold' the rest of the cable in place with your fingers with the hand u are trying to hoover with/hold the handle. It is honestly a nightmare. On the plus side the strength of the 'sucking' action ...

I went to John Lewis to buy a Dyson hoover, but the knowledgeable shop assistant recommended that I bought this one instead, so I did.
I have not regretted my purchase--it is user-friendly and efficient, even though it is not flashy like the Dyson hoovers. ...

Quick review of Sebo X4EXTRA
Great vacuum cleaner, would never buy anything else, especially with animals and children around. Had my last sebo for 13 years, never a problem with it until the motor gave up, then cheaper to replace with a new one. Glides around with very little effort, and carpets look like new after being vacuumed. ...

...hear my little story
The Sebo hoover worked wonders in my little flat I had, at the time I only had a dustpan and brush and been living there for some time on my own
It picks up every thing and the attachments are great for all your soft furnishings
Well any way the reason i decided to write this review today is that my neighbour borrowed it today as her old hoover has broken, she said she loved it and going shopping to buy one and off she went ...

...Lewis but the salesperson recommended Sebo - doesn't look as modern and uses a bag so we were sceptical but she convinced us - and it's still going strong ~7 years later! Very good suction, very easy to manoeuvre, good tools and good filtering. Bags are not particularly cheap but are very durable and are available on discount websites; the mechanism for the attachment of the bags is very easy. It tends to 'walk' if it is left switched on when in ...
