Advantages Advantages Very good time-keeper. Classic Good Looks. Not Expensive for Technology Offered.

Disadvantages Disadvantages In Five and a Half Years I Have Found None!

Here comes an odd one for you! As, during all of my months spent on review sites, I have yet to read a watch review, I thought that I would set myself the challenge of writing one. In truth it probably will not be the longest or most interesting review RICHADA has penned….. ….but bear with me for a few minutes if you will. Firstly, for those who do not know me that well, a little bit about me. I am no fan of jewellery, fashion or otherwise - at least not on my own person. As, hopefully, a relatively respectable company director, I do however have need of a passably accurate and presentable ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality, strong, Value for money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Nothing at all.

I have owned a Seiko Kinetic watch for about 5 years now. The model is a 5m42 OE30. There are other models available like the 5M42-0h09 which has the same face but a complete blue plastic strap, quality of the watch is not as good though. I believe that Seiko don't make this one any more and for the life of me I don't know why. I have however seen them in a few jewellers shops around the country and in Germany. I bought it for £220 which was in a sale reduced from £400. Bargain. The watch is silver in colour with a black face and white night illuminated numbers. There are the standard analogue ... more

Advantages Advantages Good looking and great technology

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None so far

I've had my Seiko Kinetic SQ50 watch for around six years now. That was around the time that they were released. I bought it while I was on holiday and remember seeing it as just another nice looking watch. I hadn't seen adverts explaining what the 'Kinetic' in the name meant. As I was trying it on, the shopkeeper explained to me what 'Kinetic' meant; Basically, the watch uses no batteries! It works on movement made as you wear it. As you go about your normal routine, a tiny mechanism inside the watch moves around creating 'Kinetic' energy which is stored by the watch and used to power it ... more

Advantages Advantages Requires no battery, titanium versions available, glowing points and hands

Disadvantages Disadvantages Losing the pins can be an issue

I have wanted a Seiko watch for a long time. The brand and designs just ooze quality and stature. It's no wonder I won't wear anything else these days. It's important for my job that every second is accounted for, and with the Seiko kinetic titanium watch I have is perfect, drifting only a second over a period of months. Fantastic, from a watch with no battery! The 'kinetic' mechanism I thought would be a gimmick, a back-up with no actual use. This is completely false. The watch does 'recharge' itself with the use of natural movement. The simple swing of your arms as you walk will be enough to ... more

Advantages Advantages No fiddly batteries to change etc

Disadvantages Disadvantages makes a very quiet noise while charging, sounds strange for a watch that looks so sturdy

Seiko Kinetic is an absolutely revolutionary concept in watch design. My one, the 5M43 is a absolute design classic. Black face, with 'Seiko' and 'Kinetic' on it in stainless steel. A very handy and talked about feature is the energy reserve indicator on the right above the hand dial which when pressed will rotate a certain amount of time e.g 5 mins = i day 10 mins = 3 days and a full 30 mins, half rotation means it has 6 months reserve left!! It is charged by simple motion such as walking etc. Stainless steel all over which is good for me as i am allergic to nickel. RRP is £160, i managed to ... more
