    Advantages Advantages Refreshing.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

Normally being a drinker of something slightly stronger in the past, I came across Shandy Bass recently which according to the outside of the can is no than 0.5% volume in terms of alcohol content – which means that you can safely drink it in front of your tea total grandparents! I must state what would appear to be a contradiction in terms however as on the side of the can, it does also state that it is a lemon flavour soft drink with 8% beer with sugar and sweetener – I am confused now, so won’t go there. But even though it has this supposed low content of alcohol in it, one assumes that it ... more

    Advantages Advantages contains real beer

    Disadvantages Disadvantages nothing

Often as a child my grandparents would take me and my mum on a drive to walk the dogs along the river and we would stop at a nice country pub for a drink. Now this was when kids were not allowed in pubs so I either got to sit in the car or would sit outside if the weather was nice. My mum would always buy me a drink and a packet of crisp and my favourite drink by far was a can of Shandy Bass. You can still purchase it now from selected shops and every now and again I purchase a can as I still love the taste. It is not the easiest drink to find nowadays but the odd larger supermarket does still ... more

Advantages Advantages Remember when you were young, taste, contains beeeeeeeeeeer

Disadvantages Disadvantages Prize, age , we can compare now with proper beer

This shandy bass drink reminds me of being younger, times when you couldn’t have a “proper drink" at the pub with your parents and the only near alcoholic drink you could get your hands on before you were 18. Astoundingly this drink has never gone away it has always been around and the other day and on various occasions in the pas 12 years I have had a can with its distinctive taste to reminisce. 'Shandy Bass, Made With Real Beer' was the selling point when I was young wow made with real beer, now with years of drinking the real stuff you can tell its watered down, but hey its ... more

Advantages Advantages You don't get drunk

Disadvantages Disadvantages You don't get drunk

Did you ever go down the pub with your parents and try to get a shandy out of them to make yourself feel older? If you did and actually managed to get one the chances are you were given a Shandy Bass. Those were the good old days. Recently on visiting my local shop, I was looking in the chiller cabinet for a nice refreshing drink to enjoy while sitting in the sunshine. As I slowly browsed the shelves I noticed a 330ml navy blue can with gold and white writing saying 'Shandy Bass, Made With Real Beer'. The packaging had caught my eye, so I took the can and proceeded to the till where I paid 60p ... more

    Advantages Advantages none

Disadvantages Disadvantages very sweet; nothing like a pub shandy

I'm sure Top Deck tasted much better than this (also Hunt's Shandy) but may be it all the unadulterated beer that has fuddled my brain! As I enjoy a shandy in the summer months, I was eager to try - but I found this just like lemonade with an slight beer aftertaste, adn just too sweet for my tastes - thusdidn't hit the refreshing button that other reviewers found On hte plus side it is widely available, but there appears to be no others (other than supermarket brands) to chose from which probably tells its own story At least Shandy Bass has Bass beer in it, but surely a shandy has to have more ... more
