Making Money the EASY way

Advantages: Great Service. Easy to trade. Great Special Offers.
Disadvantages: Same legal restrictions as premises based stockbrokers/None!!

I have had experience of sharepeople for just under a year now and would like to "share" (Pardon the pun) with you some of its finer points. I have done this by including ALL the information you need under easy to locate headings. So less waffle and onto the info! What is Sharepeople.com? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Basically Sharepeople.com is a great online stockbroker, owned by american express. What can you do? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Basically you ...
...or visit a premises based stockbroker. Plus being online iot is far more efficient and costs less to run. This means that sharepeople.com can pass the savings directly onto you! You can now also look at Free advise on Funds PLUS you can open an ISA online (See drawbacks - 2) So how much does it cost then? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Trading fees vary depending on what exactly you are trying to trade, but for most transactions it is around £13.50 ...

Good but could be improved

Advantages: Very easy to register and use - current information
Disadvantages: No facility for placing stop loss sell orderss

I am a moderate investor (£3-5k) and enjoy playing the market. I joined Sharepeople.com mid 2000 and have had no real problems with the account. As I put aside a set amount each month to invest I have set up a direct transfer to the Sharepeople.com bank account. This is by far the easiest way of doing it as they bank through Royal Bank of Scotland and finding a branch is about comparable with finding hen's teeth! Registration is simple and very ...
...trading is easy. The ability to set up a range of "virtual" accounts to either learn on or to monitor shares that you are interested in is very benificial. The ablility to be notified when your shares hit triggers that you have established can save you a fortune if any of your investments go into freefall. The fees are reasonable; for new comers there are special deals so the trades can be as low as a flat £5. One improvement that I would love to ...

Share dealing made easy

Advantages: Easy to use, informative, easy trading
Disadvantages: None

...around and decided to try Sharepeople out. Setting up my account with them was easy and took only a few days (it is not all done online). Once my account was opened and money paid into the bank account which is set up for you I was free to start trading. Once you have joined you are sent a very helpful brochure as a guide to their services, everything is carefully explained and laid out in an easy to follow way. I have bought 2 different lots of ...
...I signed up with Sharepeople in time to benefit from their offer of No Transaction Fee, all I pay per trade is a £ 5 commission, VAT & Stamp Duty. A very good deal and most cost effective as it does not take long to make back the costs. ...

Quality service

Advantages: Perfect for the novice trader. Great value and service.
Disadvantages: Slow website.

I joined Sharepeople after seeing various adverts and I am very impressed with their service. I used to trade using my bank who would charge either £20 or 2% whichever is higher. Well Sharepeople charged £17.50 for a trade (no matter the value of shares bought). What's more this charge has been reduced to £14.50 for trades under £1000 and £17.50 thereafter - pretty good value. Whats more they have waived the annual £50 fee. The service is very efficient ...
...been transferred to the nominee account within 3 days. The website is pretty basic. You can create the usual "virtual" portfolio and also keep track of your shares on the main portfolio. There is a link for free shares news. You can also trade on the American market too. There is a service to send share prices to your email address which is free or to your mobile as an SMS message at a charge of 20p per message. Although the features are simple ...

A slightly basic, but good quality service

Advantages: Instant trading, cheap to use, reliable
Disadvantages: Slightly clunky website

I've been trading with sharepeople.com for several months now and I can recommend their service. However, users should be aware that virginmoney.com actually links to sharepeople.com but only charges £14.95 per trade, as opposed to £17.95 a trade by sharepeople.com. Trading is executed immediately and a contract note is sent to you by post and also via email. The site is easy to navigate and dealing can be done without certification (ie you can ...
...is not presented to you in the nicest way, it is still usable. The site doesn't contain much information on stocks or companies, it is purely a facilitator of trades. When you register you are given a royal bank of scotland account, which you pay your initial money into. All trades then access this account and any profit is placed here too. You can transfer money directly in via smile.co.uk so all of your trading can be done online, without have ...

Basic and easy to use

Advantages: nominee service cost efficiency
Disadvantages: Lack of services clumsy looking website

Sharepeople is the third online broker I've used and at present seems to be very efficient and cost effective. I first used barclays stockbrokers which has to be one of the cheapest but also probably the worst with certificates going astray and T10 settlement being too long. Their price improver is the highlight of their service. Sharepeople provides a cheap nominee account service. Mine's free but I signed up early. The 17.50 trade cost does make ...
...as most Private investors do. Dealing in NASDAQ stocks can be expensive roughly £50 on a £1000 invested but the system is efficient and most stocks are covered if not ask them directly and they may start dealing in them. OTBB (sim to aim / ofex) is unavailable. Company reports and letters are forwarded onto you asap and generally an alround good service. The only drawback is the lack of information / news available on the site and the relatively ...

Quite Good - But

Advantages: Quite good prices
Disadvantages: CAN BE HARD TO PAY MONEY INTO YOUR ACCOUNT

I have been with sharepeople.com for 4 months now and I find them very good. There charges are low and they pay a good rate of interest on there Bank account. The only problem I have found with them is that to deposit money into your account can be a bit difficult has there bank account is run by The Bank of Scotland and they do not have many branches in England. But I have found it is easier to transfer the money in from another account from another ...
...them quite good sometimes however they do not sell your shares fast enough and you get a worse price. Once they did not sell some shares that I put a minimum price on saying the price could not be met. But the price traded above my limit all that day. But overall I would say they are the best I have tried. Just recently they seem to be taking quite a time to buy & sell shares in the US. But when you are selling and the price is rising they seem to ...

Selling can be awkward

Advantages: Flat rate fees
Disadvantages: Need money in account to sell

I signed up with Sharepeople in May. When I signed, there was an offer of not having to pay £50 admin per quarter/year. I have bought some shares a couple of times and there has not been any problems. Recently I tried to sell a stock, and to my surprise I was unable to. Reason - quite simple, I had to have 20% of my total sales value in their account, which I found difficult to understand. No other brokers, I have used in the past require money to ...

nice one

Advantages: good service
Disadvantages: non really

This company which is contactable on 0870 737 8000 or at www.sharepeople.com runs a really good share dealing service (on-line & telephone) Advantages are: It runs justlike a bank account and pays large amounts (5% +) interest You use this account to trade you can get them to phone you (free) when a particular share reaches a particular value for buying/selling - you then go on-line and trade if you register before 31/8 running the a/c is free ...

Getting better

Advantages: Recently added electronic transfer of funds in and out of account.
Disadvantages: Had problems selling shares on NYSE, eventually resolved, but email messages from staff showed confusion.

Since being taken over by American Express they have allowed you to transfer money electronically (via direct debit). This has reduced the time taken to get funds into the account, though it is still a manual transact, you need to move the money over 3 working days before. It would be better if they would allow future payment via automated direct debit, as many traditional brokers do (t+5). Had a few problems when trading stocks (in certificate form) ...
