They make microwaves, don't they?

Advantages: 1MP camera, brilliant screen
Disadvantages: Some features "disabled"

...got myself a brand new Sharp GX30. I have only had Nokia's in the past, so I was a little wary about investing in a phone from a company that makes my microwave. After playing with my other half's GX20, I figured, "what the hey". I signed on the dotted line, paying absolutely zip for my phone. Since I have been with Vodafone for such a long time, and since my bills average about £110 a month, they were happy to offer me this deal. On average though, ...
...so it seems as though Sharp has learnt from its mistakes. It can last around 2 and a bit days on standby, and about 6 hours of constant use. Now that doesn't sound that great, but remember that screen sucks up a lotta juice. Obviously using the camera is a tremendous drain on the battery. Vodafone. Vodafone. Vodafone!!!! A major dislike I have on this phone is the Vodafone branding. There are Vodafone logo's on the outside and the inside, and the ...

...pleased I did! The Sharp GX30 is only available on the Vodafone network, and on average is quoted at costing in the region of £100, depending on what tariff you opt for on the Vodafone network. As my boyfriend and I went shopping for the same phone at the same phone we hoped to get a bit more of a bargain, and fortunately we did! £23.97 each on the Vodafone Anytime 200 tariff from Phones 4U after negotiating with a very helpful salesman! Wow - The Sharp GX30 - Best phone around!!!

Advantages: MP3 player, 1.1 mega Pixel camera, SD Memory.......
Disadvantages: Disadvantages??? What are they then???

I bought the Sharp GX30 about 2 months ago. I haven't put it down since... I used to own the Sharp gx10 which at the time, I thought was great, it had a camera, it could download ringtones and games, what more could I ask for from a phone? Well.... Then came the Sharp GX30! Wow! What a phone. Where do I start…? It has an MP3 player, so that you can download your favourite songs to take with you were ever you go. You have to save your songs to your ...

When you open your phone to answer it, if you have saved a photo to the contact who is calling you, you will see the photo on the internal screen, so you know who’s calling, if you have not done this, it will either tell you the name or the number if they are not in your phonebook. Why are there so few flip phones?

Advantages: Packed with features, clamshell design
Disadvantages: vodafone live! operating system

...the same phone was the sharp GX10, but looks a bit sleeker. So. Upgrade time. I wanted something similar to the panasonic, but with more games and features, and an even better camera if possible. And it had to have a flip front. Utterly vital to me that phones have a flip front, because I don't like locking keys. A scan of the wall showed me that the only competitor was the sharp gx30 - no other flip front phone had enough features, and the 1.3 ...
...the salemen bull of trying to sell me a samsung (never again) for half an hour, I was walking out of the shop with my new phone. First impressions were strong. The battery life was good, about 4 days to a charge with a moderate amount of calls. The camera worked well, and can take pictures in resolutions of up to 858*1144. After a lovely week of honeymoon period, the phone died on me. Total lock up, nothing would make it turn on. I took it back ...

Sharp Gx 30

Advantages: Overall high quality phone, large display, easy to use menu.
Disadvantages: Restricted on bluetooth.

I bought two sharp gx 30s approx 4 months ago now from the vodaphone store. I bought one for myself and one for my wife. We returned both of our nokia 6600 on a 14 day no quibble return policy and swaped them for the new sharp. I got both phones free on vodaphone anytime 200 tariff, and bear in mind this was four months ago. When I bought the phones I was sold on the camera alone, with the 1 mega pixel pictures which can be saved on the SD card (or ...

The phone itself is a clam shell design silver in colour. There are two colour screens, the main internal screen and the screen which is on the outside of the phone. The external screen is not as high quality as the larger internal screen but you can take photos and save them to ...

Still one of the best phones available

Advantages: Excellent camera, Incredible screen
Disadvantages: Poor battery life & disabled bluetooth

Being a good customer of Vodaphone, I was offered this as my free upgrade last April. I was warned by the customer services guy that the bluetooth was slightly restricted in that it can only be used for a voice headset but that didn't bother me. First glances at the phone reveal it to be quite big and bulky compared to my previous Nokia 6610, especially with that aerial sticking out about half an inch on the top. The bulkyness however is far outweighed ...
...has been thrown around, dropped, and also has bite marks across the top flip (long story) and still functions perfectly. If you need a phone that's going to last for some time this is it. The menu system is pure simplicity and extremely quick to navigate unlike Nokias and NEC. This being a flip phone, it has two screens - the outside one displays time and date, and also incoming call details (and messages). The main screen inside is superb. Still ...

FIRST MEGA PIXEL CAMERA PHONE

Advantages: GREAT CAMERA - LIGHTWEIGHT - ROBUST
Disadvantages: ON THE BIG SIZE - BLUETOOTH ISN'T FULLY FUNCTIONAL

...I decided to purchase a Sharp GX30. Wanting to stay ahead in the tech stakes and knowing it was the first megapixel camera phone out in the UK I was eager to get my hands on it quickly. Its also my first clamshell phone so I had this to contend with. The camera quality is excellent. I managed to unlock my phone for £12.50. It took 30minutes to get the code through via email and lo and behold it was unlocked. The overall feel of the phone is that ...
...I imagined as it is quite big in comparison to other clamshell phones on the market today. It doesn't have as many features as the Nokia 6600 which is really one of the only downsides apart from the main downside to me. Bluetooth. The phone can connect via Bluetooth to a headset but it can't connect to another Bluetooth phone or via a Bluetooth dongle to your computer. This is a real shame as of course I still have my dongle from my 6600. If you ...

Advantages: Superb camera, colour display

...days being miserable about the Sharp GX30 not being my 8310, I soon realised that despite a few flaws (in my opinion anyway), the GX30 is a superb phone. Amongst its many features are: a colour screen, a 1megapixel digital camera, GPRS, java, Tri-band, polyphonic ringtones, light & fairly compact (for a flip phone at any rate) - and it looks very very pretty!! For me, the major flaws are: 1) the battery life (which is significantly less than the ...
...seems a bit short-sighted of Sharp not to have built in an alarm that worked when the phone was off. 3) the keys are sometimes a little sticky to use (this could be me still adjusting to a new keypad though). What I really like about it is the fact it's a flip phone, which gives you a nice big colour display, without sacrificing the keypad for a tiny one that is impossible to operate! Also, the camera is superb quality (although I have yet to find ...

Best Phone I Have Ever Had!

Advantages: Camera Quality, Ease of Use, Screen, Exterior Display, Lots of cool extras
Disadvantages: Bluestooth, IR, Size, Weight, Battery Life

I've had this phone just over a year now, and despite it being dropped and banged, still works brilliantly. The phone features a 1.0 megapixel camera which in my opinion is just as good, if not better then the latest phones offering 2.0 megapixel cameras. The phone is straightforward to use, has a large 260k colour QVGA CGS LCD screen and space for a 512MB Removable SD Memory Card for storing videos, music and pictures. At first i found it was a ...
...when you get the hang of it, it's simple. Unfortunately despite the execellence of the camera and the ease of use, i was abit dissapointed with some of the connectivity features, such as Bluetooth and Infra Red. The bluetooth can only be used with a paired headset and searching for other devices, and not for connecting and sharing files with other bluetooth enabled phones. The same can be said for the Infra Red, which can only be used for connecting ...

A good phone for technophiles on a small budget

Advantages: Many features, not too big, great screen
Disadvantages: Can crash occasionally, aerial sticking out

I got a Sharp GX30 in April last year, and since I have had to change it once (I'm on contract so it's not a problem), but otherwise it has proved to be very useful. The clamshell design of the phone means that you don't need to lock it all the time, which while not proprietary to this phone, is a useful feature. The other advantage of the clamshell design is that it enables manufacturers to have larger screens on their phones. The screen is probably ...
...is large and clear, and has a high resolution. The screen lets you display images taken with the 1-megapixel integrated camera, and while those photos don't look good on a PC, they do look good when viewed on the phone. The GX30 has integrated Bluetooth, and is tri-band, so it is relatively well specced out. It does not have 802.11x Wi-Fi or 3G capabilities, but I do not find these features necessary on a phone. The GX30 also has a SD-memory card ...

Advantages: Exceptional camera quality, useful torch light
Disadvantages: Bulky, appears to cutout to person on other en

I can't stress how good the camera is on this phone, so clear, much better than my former GX20. The video also lasts longer (a couple of minutes rather than 15 secs. Again, as per the GX20 it has a funky torch facility (you can even change the light colour). I quite like the fact that I can also assign different light colours to different people or groups in my phone book, so even when my phone is on silent I can screen calls from a distance! Lots ...
...tooth, although I have had problems trying to bluetooth with other appliances and mobiles. Don't buy specifically for the blue tooth function! Another let down is the sound quality to the person on the other end of the phone - to me the sound is fine but I get many complaints that I keep going silent and only half the conversation is heard which is terribly irritating. Could just be my hand set but I've heard this from other users. Incidently nothing ...

The minute i realised sharp had a new phone on the way, my mind was set my 02 contract was comming to its end, new phone time, i had a choice, stay with o2 and get what would be quite frankly a shabby new phone in the Nokia 6230. Or jump ship to Vodafone and be the proud owner of currently the best phone on the market, My mind was made in 34 seconds i went to the shop found a deal. £30 for a Gx30 on a 200 minute 200 txt contract bout £35 pound a ...

The Sharp GX30 camera phone really is the best thing sinced sliced bread! ....before i got this phone i had an older style Nokia one & was on pay as you go & spending far too much on top-ups!! Im personally paying £15 a month & on a 12 month contract & getting 100 free minutes & 50 free texts in with that deal! The GX30 includes the following features.... 1. 1.0 mega pixel digital camera with flash for Colour picture messaging & Video messaging 3. Colour screen ...

Upgraded Sharp Mobile

Advantages: Quality Pictures, MP3 Player, Vodafone Live
Disadvantages: Size is thick & big compared to some phones

This is my newest Sharp Mobile, I upgraded from the popular GX10. I have noticed a great improvement in the picture quality. It is now 1 mega pixels and it shows in the clarity and sharpness. The screen is large enough to show an entire text message and there's also a smaller front display, which can display a small picture, time and date. It has an extension slot for SD Card (512mb) & MMC (256mb), which comes very handy for the MP3 player function. ...
...is very good, although it only has one earpiece. I currently have a 256mb Sandisk memory card in and it holds 4 full CD's :-) T9 is enhanced and you can choose from 12 different languages, so I can now text my family without having to do each letter (I use the Swedish language for Danish - you can update with any new words easily). I enhance the battery standby time by setting the backlight time to 2 seconds, which means the battery last about ...

A sharp point on the gx30

Advantages: 1 megapixel camera, robust, easy to use
Disadvantages: flashing, size, mp3 support, sound, game, media player

Ive had this phone 6 months and decided to get rid of it recently so I thought a review of it would be on the cards. I remember the GX10i (david beckham phone)was impressive when I received that with new innovations and radical styling. This phone was supposed to take these features to another level but in my opinion the improvements are minimal compared to the competition. The signal is good and the phone is easy to use. The camera was well ahead ...
...the music player came just prior to the mp3/radio phenomenon on phones and isnt fully featured on this phone. Also the phone is bulkier than the GX10i, fair enough it has a better camera graphics sounds but the improvements are like a half way between the newer phones and the older ones where new features were coming in. I think that is my gripe it just isnt as impressive as maybe it could have been. The phone does have a memory card which I did ...
