...to starting the next book, Shopaholic Ties the Knot.
The retail price on the back cover of the paperback book which I have is £7.99. I did not pay this price and managed to pick this and 2 others in the series up for just 34 from my sons pre-school. I have also seen this book slightly cheaper on both Amazon and EBay. The book was written by Sophie Kinsella and published by Black Swan. It has 351 gripping and funny pages. I do recommend this book ...

Advantages: Easy read Disadvantages: Can be predictable in places
I bought Shopaholic Abroad by Sophie Kinsella for a 6 hour flight to New York (which is very fitting for the book) and I could not put it down. This book is very funny, cleverly written and easy to read (which is what I like on any journey).
I feel the character Rebecca Bloomwood is very realistic and believable, as I know someone who is very like her. Sophie Kinsella describes in detail the feelings Rebecca has when she goes shopping and I can ... ...those feeling myself when I go shopping. I think we all have a little bit of the Rebecca Bloomwood inside us all especially when we have bought something on impulse and when we have got home we don't know why on earth we have bought it. We all have our little moments when it comes to shopping, that feeling when we walk into a department store and think this store will meet all our needs and wants, or simply justifying to ourselves that buying a new ...

...a big fan of the Shopaholic Series and Sophie Kinsella books in general.
The shopaholic series comes under the chick lit category as it is not deep and meaningful but rather a book to keep you entertained. The books are about a girl called Becky who as you can guess from the title is a shopaholic. Shopaholic abroad is the second in the series following from The Secret Dreamworld Of A Shopaholic. The first book had seen Becky, a financial advisor, ... ...boyfriend later on. Shopaholic Abroad is the story of how Becky ends up going to the US. Her relationship with Luke is going great, she has a fab job as a financial advisor on TV and everything seems to be going well for Becky. Luke is offered an opportunity he can't resist to go and work in the New York. He decides to go and visit to test the waters and takes Becky with him in the hope that she can share his new life over there. Becky is obviously ...

Advantages: Very funny, well written Disadvantages: More for women than men I think
Background:
Shopaholic Abroad is the second of a trilogy written by author Sophie Kinsella. In the first book (Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic) we are introduced to the main character, Rebecca Bloomwood which is a financial journalist by day and a Shopaholic at all other times. We follow her hilarious exploits as she balances credit cards and comes up with lots of harebrained schemes to reduce her credit card debts and increase her income: none ... ...we are introduced to Luke Brandon of Brandon Communications who becomes a key player in Rebecca’s life
Plot:
In the second book Rebecca Bloomwood has just about paid of all her credit card debts and is working as a financial specialist of the Richard and Judy type tv programme Morning Coffee. Advantages: a great read Disadvantages: i'm getting way too involved in the characters lives,
After reading the first novel in the shopoholic series, I felt compelled to read the next after realising it was part of a serial.
I found I had gotten into Rebecca’s life so much I wanted to know more and more about her, and whether she was going to manage to stay out of debt after struggling with it for so many months.
Shopoholic abroad shows Becky travelling to New York with her beloved Luke. She’s now a star on daytime television giving financial ... ...I wont give away the storyline, but the book wouldn’t be brilliant if it didn’t have some if not a lot of tragedy, and unfortunately for Becky this involves being in debt.
I truly believe she doesn’t know how to curb her spending, and this novel carries on to show how brilliantly Becky can get into debt, how she hides it from everyone, and how she somehow manages to get through life pretending everything is normal.
We still see all the original ...

Shopaholic Abroad' written by Sophie Kinsella is the second instalment of the delusional world of Becky Bloomwood. The tagline of this book, published by Black Swan in 2001, states "…because there aren't enough shops at home." So Becky still hasn't got the control she needs over her irrational spending habits, and un-surprisingly I don't think New York City is the best place for her to curb her spending.
In this edition of the popular series, we ... ...by Sophie Kinsella in the Shopaholic series, as I have said before in previous reviews of the Shopaholic series, I think the best books were the first '…secret dreamworld…' and the last 'Shopaholic and sister', purely because of the humour, plot and the were nice introductions and conclusions to the story (although a fifth book is planned). Overall for a second book this is more than adequate and it didn't put me off the series at all.
This book ...

To make matters worse Rebecca moves to New York to follow her boyfriend Lukes career. This opens up a new world of retail possobilities which only contributes to her ...

...Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic first, or you might be a bit lost.
PLOT: **I would like to apologise for the comment below suggesting I copied this from amazon. It is in fact the blurb of the book, with my input too. Please refrain from writing nasty comments like that, before actually checking. Thanks to everyone else!**
The book is about a girl called Rebecca Bloomwood. She used to be a financial journalist, have a loveless life, and no money ... ...She has a job on morning TV, her bank manager is actually being nice to her, and when it comes to spending money, her new motto is Buy Only What You Need - and she's really (sort of) sticking to it. The icing on the brioche is that she's been offered a chance to work in New York.
New York! The Museum of Modern Art! The Guggenheim! The Metropolitan Opera House! And Becky does mean to go to them all. Honestly. It's just that it seems silly not to ...

Advantages: Hilarious Disadvantages: more of a female read, so not a good book for a man
This is the second instalment of the super-funny 'Shopaholic' series by Sophie Kinsella, out of which I have read all the books more than once.
I got so into it that I was actually sad when I finished the last book, as the main character (Becky) gets under your skin and you do feel like she's a close friend by the end of the book.
This book, the same as all the other ones in the series, can be read and enjoyed by someone who has not read the previous ... ...a Shopaholic' first and then move onto 'Shopaholic Abroad'.
I think that, even though all the books are very funny and readable in their own right, it always makes a nicer read when you put it in context and you already know the characters and what happened before.
This book is extremely funny-I found myself laughing out loud countless times and wanting to read bits out to share with other people.
The writing style is witty, funny, carefree and ...

Advantages: Great follow up to 'The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopoholic.' Disadvantages: None!
This book is a fantastic follow up to 'The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopoholic,' although could be read alone as you dont really need to have read the first book as this book covers the history of Rebecca Bloomwood and her 'spending'.
The book carries on the story of Becky who has the perfect boyfriend and perfect job, and who has got her debts in order, but then gets offered teh chance to go and live in New York.
Of course over in New York Becky ... ...begin to rise, until her world is tipped upside down one morning and Becky's life changes forever.
I found this book really enjoyable and struggled to put it down, (I dont know if thats cos I like spending money too!) The story is humourous yet Kinsella writes it so that you do feel sorry for Becky with her self inflicted problems.
I would wholeheartedly recomend this book. ...

If your looking for a fun light hearted read this is it. Its a girly story that many females could easily relate to at some point. Or even males!
The characters adventures abroad are truly brilliant and so funny, all of course are to do with shopping in some shape or form, or also maybe on a serious level depending on which point in the story you are.

Advantages: Excellent Disadvantages: Sophie sold out and made a film !
This is my favourite book ever. This book is a great 'chick flick,' Pretty much everyone who reads it thinks they are Becky Bloomwood. Becky is 25 and a financial journalist who loves shopping ( don't we all ?) She gets into all kinds of problems and tries to think of ways to change her habit. Its not the storyline that is so fantastic it's the way it's written and the fantastic character development. There a 5 books so far in the series but this ... ...film of it but don't be fooled the storyline and characters are not the same the only similarity is the names! Becky is supposed to be from London but in the film she is American and played by an Australian actress ! I would give this 10/10 ! A great read ! ...
