Advantages Advantages Great curl, easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No spares, cost

I've used eyelash curlers for years - mostly the traditional metal ones from the High Street chemists. Although the look and shape is the same as it's always been, they don't seem to me to work as well as they did years ago. Of course, now they don't have the same tendency to pull your eyelashes out and you can even risk using them after mascara but for all that they're probably kinder to the eyelashes, a bit more oomph and staying power would be good. After realising that my last pair weren't doing their job any longer, I decided to invest in a more expensive curl. Heated curlers were out as ... more

Advantages Advantages perfect shape, perfect curl, long lasting, sturdy, spare pad included

    Disadvantages Disadvantages price maybe? Availability

I've been using eyelash curlers ever since i was in school, I used the cheap ones you could buy anywhere and i thought it was normal when they pulled out a couple lashes with them sometimes and the curl only lasted about 5 minutes. I soon got fed up of using them and only started again about 4 years ago. So after buying another cheap pair one morning getting ready for work i used them - squeeze squeeze - to my horror my eyelashes floated down out of the eyelash curler and onto the table!! I'd cut them off! I then realized the metal bit of the curler which is under the pad was jutting out and ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

    Advantages Advantages it curls lashes

Disadvantages Disadvantages It pulls out lashes and takes off mascara, costly

I first discovered the eyelash curling tool when I asked a family member how she got her eyelashes so spread out and curled upwards thinking that she'd just recommend a mascara but instead she showed me a silver painful looking contraption, she showed me how to use it at the same time so I thought I'd try it myself as I did envy her lashes! I spotted the Shy Uemura Eyelash curler in Selfridges and despite the cost, £20, I went ahead with the purchase. I used the eyelash curler for 12 months, it was very sturdy and didn't break in the 12 months I had it. It had a white sponge type material ... more

Advantages Advantages excellent curl, good quality eyelash curlers

    Disadvantages Disadvantages cost

Being Chinese I have straight eyelashes which need curling before I put on mascara. I had read in the Times that Shu Uemura eyelash curlers were the best for curling eyelashes but was rather put off by the price - £18.00 for eyelash curlers which I thought was just too much! Whilst in duty free returning from a holiday in Hong Kong I found a pair of these eyelash curlers being sold for HK$100 (approximately £8.00) and as I had some spare currency left I bought a pair. They appear to look like eyelash curlers you can get in Boots but when you hold them you notice the difference immediately. The ... more

1 Star Quick review of Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler by Tamarushka 11/10/2008
I had heard so much about this eyelash curler, but this eyelash curler is for people with Western eyes. It was too wide and therefore failed to curl all my eyelashes. Koji has been making eyelash curlers for years, and they are made for people with Asian eyes. I am not sure whether they are available in the UK though. I have also heard that Shiseido's eyelash curlers are fantastic for Asian eyes. I understand Preo eyelash curlers are good for curling sections of your lashes.

Advantages Advantages easy to use, efficient, fantastic results

Disadvantages Disadvantages little pricey ($19 or 11-12 pounds) compared to other brands.

This product is hands down the best that I have ever used in my life and probably in most people's. This curler curls quickly and makes a dramatic curve in your eyelashes, making them look absolutely fabulous. You can apply many coats of mascara afterwards and it won't lose its curl. Though it is a little expensive, it lasts a long time and is very sturdy. It's also good for the innermost lashes. This product is great for people who have trouble with eyelashes that can't hold a curl, flat eyelids (asians in most cases), and want dramatic results. It does not crimp your lashes nor pinch you at ... more
