Advantages Advantages Simple, Small and easy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Buttons are a bit small

I bought this phone in january this year (2003) it cost me £59.99, i brought it from the carphone warehouse and here is my opinion of it... The Look The siemens A50 is a small and good looking phone, the standard cover is blue and silver, the base of the phone is blue with silver buttons. Weight/Size this phone is very light and a good pocket size Using the phone The phone is really easy to learn and pick up the menu is very self explanatory although the buttons can be a bit small and when i'm browsing around on the phone the two quick touch buttons can hurt my thumbs sometimes, because ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small and stylish

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quality of games

I had my Siemens A50 given to me at Christmas and I am still now trying to figure out how to use some of the functions on it such as the melody manager. The handset itself is light (96g), stylish, appealing to look at with a good button layout and fits nice and comfortably in your hand or pocket. It has a good battery life both on standby and talktime use (I do not know exact figures at the moment but will add them as soon as I find them out). The screen is a nice large visable size, which lights up a nice orange colour when you touch the buttons or have and incoming call. The ringtones I ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small, compact, wap

Disadvantages Disadvantages poor games, orange screen

In 2002, my £150 phone was stolen and it wasnt insured. after going for several months without a phone, i decided i needed a new one. due to my earlier loss, i wanted a cheap phone and the seimens a50 was the cheapest availible at £49. Value because the seimens a50 is so cheap, you are not going to get the lastest features such as cameras and colour screens but personally, who needs them. the seimens is exxcellent value for money, incorperating wap, 2 games and the other general mobile phone features. Size Again, the seimens isnt the smallest phone on the market, but it is still very small ... more

Advantages Advantages bargain price, light and compact

Disadvantages Disadvantages bad choice of logos, clicky buttons

This is a bargain price phone, which I got as a part exchange at a cost of less than £40 and with around £20 calling credit. I bought it because it was the cheapest in the vodafone shop. I mainly use it for texting. I've had no problems topping it up and it has been reliable for over a year. It is a sturdy item, as it's been dropped a couple of times but has survived. However, the buttons feel a bit rickety and clicky. It is lightweight and conveniently small, but no so tiny you lose it all the time. When I got it I was impressed by the ringtone selection and screensavers, but that was perhaps ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap and cheerful

Disadvantages Disadvantages slightly cumbersome, lacks many additional features

Purchased around a year ago, the siemens A50 has served its time well, but now seems rather out of date. Whilst it looks good, is thoroughly reliable and is perfect for a beginner or someone requiring just basic functions, the A50 has now become quite dated. Of course it was always aimed at the budget end of the market, but today phones with many more features that this lacks (polyphonics, colour screen, better games, improved navigation) can be picked up for the same price. And although it does look good, it is quite bulky compared to newer phones, and key pressing and navigation is fairly ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, light, cheap, looks

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Rubber buttons

I bought this phone about 9 months ago and it was cheap then so it must be dirt cheap now. It is a decent enough phone if you don't want to do too much with is beyond call, sms and the occasional flick round the net. However despite its advantages (see above) it does have a few problems. The rubber buttons stick up a touch too far from the phone making speed texting a lot harder than from a nokia phone (though without the annoying clicking sound). Not a big gripe though just an adjustment needed. The games are also really boring and uninteresting so if thats what you want buy a nokia ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, light, big screen, great value for money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some complicated menus

After 3 years I thought it was about time I changed my old, big & heavy mobile phone. However, after 6 months of looking it was becoming clear that I had a choice between buying another brick or, spending over £100 on a phone that I only really use in emergencies. That was until I saw the Siemens A50. At just £40 + my old handset (£60 otherwise) on O2 talkalot pay & go, I had finally found a phone that was cheap, small & incredibly light. It also has all the features that one would expect of a modern mobile – WAP, downloadable ringtones, pictures & a couple of games, aswell as a stylish ... more

    Advantages Advantages cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages bulky

So I needed a cheap phone and quickly, I went into my local carphone warehouse. and saw this siemens a50 for £60. It'll do for now I thought, I had used the Siemens c35 before and this wasn't much different in its style. At first it was dificult to readjust to its keys and texting system, as I only really used the phone to text with. It has little novelties on it like walking ducks and things when pages are loading up, but compared to other phones I found that this was really slow, the software often crashed and even more strangely it would sometimes make these strange noises then turn itself ... more

Advantages Advantages small, robust, looks good, vibrate alert is handy

Disadvantages Disadvantages 'double-sided' buttons at top- you know, 1 button, 2 functions

I currently have the A50, and have had it almost a year now. After the initial getting to grips with it stage I find it very simple to work. When I first got it however, I couldn't work out how to turn it on. After a couple of attempts I was told the confirm button has to be pressed at the left hand side. If you press the right or centre, it doesn't switch on which seemed a bit weird to begin with. It comes with 20 ringtones. All of them are a bit rubbish though- you would need to down load some if you want anything decent. It does have the silent alert funtion though which I find very handy ... more
