A55? more like A*!

Advantagessmall, smooth, sexy

Disadvantageseasily unlocked!

"...about the purchase of my siemens A55 mobile phone. But at the cheapest on the market (correct 29.03.04) at £49.99 I thought it was a bit of a bargain! ~~~Aesthetics~~~ Lets forget about the unimportant packaging and go straight on to the little red phone inside the box. When I first saw it in O2, I must admit it was the price my eyes were drawn too but on closer inspection the phone seemed pretty small and smooth i.e. no abrasive edges so comfortable ..." A Nice Little Phone with Lots of Features

AdvantagesSmall, Lightweight, easy to use

DisadvantagesNo Ringtone editor

"...Nokia, so I chose the Siemens A55 and boy it was worth it. To start the A55 looks similar to the A50 with the exception of a new type of connector in the 55 series, it supports 16 polyphonic ringtones and has a handsfree speaker system built in to the phone. The A55 is really simple to use all the phones navigation is done via three buttons just below the screen, the middle one for up, down and the phone book and the outer buttons for selecting ..." The Best Value For Money Phone - EVER

Advantagesvalue for money, easy to use, good range of feautures

Disadvantagesnone

"The Siemen’s A55... I first got this phone on a contract through Orange. I was a little gutted really because I wanted the Nokia 3510 but they wouldn’t allow me to have it for some reason. However, when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! It is a small, light phone – like most mobiles nowadays. It is simple and very easy to navigate your way around the menus. I found it extremly simple being an avid Nokia lover – so ..." Read review

Fifty At Last!

AdvantagesSmall size, easy to use

DisadvantagesFew features for the technological whizz kids

"...end I settled on the Siemens A55. It's quite an old phone, which explains how I got it for £30 in Dixons. You can pick it up for about £20 these days, but to be honest there aren't many left. However, it does everything one would want it to. A quick list of features should give you a good idea: ~Sends/receives text messages, has T9 dictionary, preset messages and so on. ~Records received/missed/dialled calls ~Alarm Clock ~Surf & fun - this ..." Siemens A55

Advantagessmall, light, cheap, easy to use

DisadvantagesNone that I know of yet!!!

"...local orange shop. The Siemens A55 was on offer there for £39.99 - a bargain I am sure you will agree but thats not all. There are currently doing a deal where they give you £10.00 free air time credit and they give this to existing Orange customers to thank you for staying loyal to them and also to new orange customers to thank you for joining with them. This then in theory put the price the phone down to £29.99 as I would have needed to get credit ..." Read review

My new phone!

AdvantagesEasy to use

DisadvantagesButtons are a bit fiddly

"I actually got this phone free through an offer with Avon, but normally it costs £39.99 on Orange (which is the network that I got it from) and is the same on most networks (though I think that it might be cheaper on T mobile) (as of may 2004). I was in desperate need of a phone as my last one had broken, and, not being very technically minded, was relieved to find out how easy this phone was to use. The menus are fairly self explanatory. Now for ..." Read review

Good cheap basic phone

AdvantagesBright Light, Easy button, Understandable menu

DisadvantagesNoisy clicky buttons

"I was always a rather big Nokia phone, but everyone i seemed to have was cursed and all my nokia's i have ever had had drowned. So when my 8310 packed in, my dad gave me an MT50 which lasted ages, but then my brother now has that one and i've now got the A55 which my mother received free from an avon promotion. I just thought it would be cheap phone that didnt last long than 5 minutes, but here i am after 6 months and still no problems. Charge ..." Read review

SMALL BUT LETHAL!

AdvantagesSmall and lightweight

DisadvantagesNot colour

"...understand. You can register at the Siemens site www.my-siemens.com and they credit you automatically with £2.00 on which you can use to download ringtones and logos etc. The Siemens A55 also has interchangable covers, CLIPit covers, at the moment they can be very hard to come by. I know that Carphone Warehouse doesn't stock them, but Ebay does and has hundreds at low prices from as little as £3.99. I've found this phone has lots of character. ..." Read review

Siemens A55 - A very functional mobile phone

AdvantagesEasy to use; Light; Small; Quick loading times; Performs the basic well and efficiently; Durable

Mum's the word.

AdvantagesFunctional, easy to use, cheap

DisadvantagesFewer features than some of the more gimmicky phones

"We better not let the word out or all our mothers will be wanting one..... We wanted a phone simple enough for my mum (rather technologically inept) to use. The task was daunting. However, the A55 is really simple to use. Anyone would be able to master it. Not only that, but it is a very good, solid phone, with some great features. The phone was purchased for about £39.99 on orange. It is one of the cheapest on the market at the moment but also ..." Read review

My A55, the Slender Brick

AdvantagesCan be bumped, dropped, scratched, chipped, moaned at and run non-stop...

DisadvantagesA little boring perhaps with its dreary display, but who needs colour really?

"...early mobile phone era, the siemens A55 is sleak, pretty stylish, small, and only brick-like in its incredible durable-ness..if that isn't a word, then the A55 has made it one. As far as cheap-end phones go i would say this is undoubtably the best. Its rivals, mostly Nokia mobiles lack any interest and are a hark back to the days of heavy, square gadgetry. It's a phone for those people who are not bothered by gimicks such as a camera, video ..." Read review

Siemens A55 - a good bog-standard PAYG

AdvantagesSmall, nice and cheap, easy to use.

DisadvantagesJust a basic phone.

"The Siemens A55 is small, reliable, sturdy and cheap. It's easy to use and cheap to run, with good battery life of approx 60 hours continuous. If you're just looking for a bog-standard, no frills PAYG phone then this could be the one for you. It has space for 40 text messages, 100 phone numbers, and all the usual stuff, calculator, alarm clock, call records (including missed call feature and free missed call alert) games, voicemail, and a good ..." Siemens A55~ UPDATE 15/02/2005

AdvantagesSize, price

DisadvantagesNot user friendly

"...that I hadn't bought this Siemens A55 phone, especially after hearing that people could get them free for buying some anti-wrinkle cream from Avon! I have the red model. I bought mine from the Orange shop on the Orange website. It cost me £29.99 with £10 of credit. At that price, as long as it could ring and I could speak to people with it, I wasn't really that bothered about any features. The phone is a nice size and is very nice to hold. The ..." Read review

SIEMENS A55

AdvantagesSmall, light and cheap

DisadvantagesNo ringtone editor

"...money I decided on a siemens and I found the A55. I found from all my other previous phones that this had to be 1 of the best I had. I am not saying it is better or worse than other phones but for me it was better. When the new ones came out I got them. Wap, colour, ringtone editors and camera. But I decided that they could get expensive and very distractive, wap cost, sending pictures taken on the camera wasnt cheap and I started thinking why ..." Read review

Cheap and Cheerful

AdvantagesSmall, easy to use

DisadvantagesNot for the more technological person

"Siemens A55 on Orange Pay as You Go I bought this phone a couple of years ago. All I wanted was a cheap handset on Pay as You Go for "emergency use" and this was the cheapest one that I could find. At £29.99 (plus a £10 trade in for my old phone and a £10 credit voucher) it actually only worked out at £10 for the handset - what a bargain. I have to say it's the best phone I have ever had and I doubt that I will change it until it breaks. My ..." Read review
