...change. I looked up the Siemens S55 along with its rivals, the Nokia 6610(i) and the Ericsson T68. And upon deciding on this one I searched on the internet. To my surprise there was a hefty £150 price tag on this phone. Upon realising the fact that my wallet was going to be empty if I bought it, I looked on eBay and found several S55s for around £50.

Advantages: Bluetooth, Camera, MIDI Ringtones, Dictaphone Disadvantages: MMS doesn't work, attachable camera keeps falling off, buttons fall off!
...phone, but not with my Siemens S55! No, of course it has to be different. Dropped the phone one day, expecting maybe the battery cover to pop off - but nope! That thing is practically welded shut. What happened? The silver-effect display surround fell off leaving an ugly grey (but obviously ineffective) glue instead of the shiny surround. Since then, I've been losing around one button per week (BPW). It started with the power/call end button. Then ... ...dial key is going to be next. This morning, number 3 fell off. So I find myself managing to type whole text messages without the letters D, E and F!
There are some things about this phone which I haven't been able to fault yet! A reasonable quality dictophone, calculator, WAP, etc. One thing I particularly like is that you can use MIDI ringtones. That means I can write my own on my keyboard as well as download some from the internet. And there's ...

So far I have had no problems with this phone, it seems to be quite robust too, the build quality seems better than a Nokia and it even withstood a pint of larger being spilt over it, whoops!!
All in all this is a good phone, the functions are more business suited ... ...function, you will find this excellent, especially if you travel a lot.
The only let downs with this phone is the low res screen, the buttons seem a little fiddly at first and it’s a wee bit complicated to configure properly.
I'm not finished yet, I'm gonna do some more work with the phone and see what happens, update soon.
UPDATE: 27/08/03

Advantages: looks cool Disadvantages: not very hi-tech
THE LOOK This phone is, I think very attractive, its mainly grey but the buttons and the battery cover are silver. On the left side of the phone is a chrome button for call volume, on the right hand side is a voice memo button (also chrome) and the charger point is on the bottom. This phone is also very strong I have dropped it several times on nights out and it still works perfectly and has no visible damage.

the s55 is a perfect size for those of you who wish to have a phone that can hide away in a trouser pocket or handbag, but yet retain a good size to get the mic near your mouth. the problem with small handsets is that they dont get close to your mouth, so in noisy places you end up cupping the ... ...Both are again of excellent siemens quality. ...from getting my Siemens S55, I still speak very highly of it and would recommend it to anyone,
I recieved it as a contract phone from O2 online which is different for me because My last 2 phones were pay+go, I picked it out of a selected bunch because of 2 reasons, The First being its good looks, and Second, the reliability of my previous siemens phones (C35 A55)

An with the Siemens S55 I got it all - and quite a lot of other stuff thrown in.
It's small - not something I'd always thought of as an advantage - and packed full of goodies.

...I was torn between the Siemens S55 and the Sony Ericcson T610. At the last minute, despite having wanted the SE one, I decided on the Siemens. I had had a beautiful SL42 that served me well. And the cute add on camera swayed it for me.

Advantages: Easy To Use, Polyphonic Ringtones, Colour Screen Disadvantages: Keyboard
The Siemens S55, is quite a versatile little phone, it's capable of a lot of things and is fairly easy to use.
I've had my siemens for nearly a year now, since then my keyboard has dropped off twice, the first time the keys just didn't work and they wouldn't give the feedback that they should. But when you do hear it, it sounds brilliant, because when I have the oppotunity I personalise my phone so it has all the new songs out on it. Can ...

Advantages: Easy to use menu, design of phone Disadvantages: Low colour resolution
I brought this phone on contract purely because the tarrif appealed to me and the phone was free. But I looked at the phone and saw that it was quite cute. Anyways the phone comes with a colour screen, shame that it is low resolution. ...looks nicely designed, and the Siemens menu's are easy to use and all similar from phone to phone so should you upgrade you won't feel lost.
The phone itself is very nice, sound quality is great, reception is fine, battery life is better than average, but the keys! The screen is pretty poor too - it's 256 colour so there is some really horrible dithering on photo's and other images which makes it look even worse - there is a technique to stop the dithering (I think you only use bmp files) but they still don't look as good as a decent full colour display. Advantages: Compact with good looks , Decent Camera, Bluetooth, irda and much more Disadvantages: Clip on camera, Poor screen
The Siemens S55 is a phone to make people sit up and take notice. From the moment I saw one i had to have it and waited eagerly for them to be released. I paid £120 for it in Feb 03 and received the phone along with software, data cable and clip on camera which is a really good bundle, there's nothing worse than having to purchase some key components separately at a later date

Advantages: Looks good, lots of functions, easy computer link up, good ringtone quality, camera add-on Disadvantages: Poor picture quality, fiddly buttons, poor battery
I have had the phone for just over 6 months now and in general am quite satisfied with it, the sound quality of ringtones is second to none and the range of Backrounds, Screensavers and Java games seems to be endless.

The infrared and blue tooth functionality is spot on and PC linkup is so easy ... ...The phone also comes with an add on camera, once the pictures are downloaded to the computer they are brilliant but as the phone only has a 256 colour screen they are really hard to view on the phone.
