For the first criteria the pram cost us £250 via an online website, which was cheaper than the high street store where we first saw the pram. ...pregnant I finally chose the Silver Cross 3d. This is a product is a pramette, that can be used as a travel system and converts into pushchair once the child is a bit older. The pushchair is the main set up and has a sturdy seat, the seat back reclines to 4 positions including flat but when upright it really is upright unlike some pushchairs where it is still partially reclinced. There is a removeable bumper bar and a 5 point harness. The footmuff ... ...adjustments means that with the Silver Cross ventura car seat, it can be used as a travel system. Other points
Shopping basket, the shopping basket is difficult to access and I would release one of the catches to give myself a bit more room to put things in then do it back up again. Though I rarely used the basket for more than a couple of items anyway. The handles are height adjustable but only to 2 levels and it is only about 1inch difference.

...we finally went for the Silver Cross 3D. As with many other reviewers primarily because of the practicality. The idea of a proper lie flat pram that converts into a pushchair for later use seemed entirely sensible. We also got the car seat that makes it into a travel system.
Looks:
Be very careful! Some of the colour schemes are awful, my wife and I didn't like the "pistachio" colour, too much like vomit green for our liking, but the Apollo which ... ...(as one would expect from Silver Cross). Very good proper padded mattress for the pram in lie flat mode.
Actual use:
Well the recommendation is that you don't leave them in the car seat for more than 2 hours at a time when under 6 months as it is bad for the breathing. This kind of negates the travel system idea as even the weekly trip to the supermarket can be nearly 2 hours, let alone if going for a trip out for the day. The car seat is easy ...

...the pushchair/pram part of the Silver Cross 3D system since my son was born at the end of September 2006. (I preferred a different car seat with Iso-fix.) Not having had any experience of pushchairs, I thought this would be a great investment as it seemed to tick all the boxes. It IS a good looking pushchair and pram. However, now that my son is over 6 months, I struggle to manouver it and have done so for a few months. On occasion, I have needed ... ...this impossible unless you are going in a straight line on a perfectly flat surface. I have since pushed other people's pushchairs/buggies and they out-manouver the 3D easily. I have a friend who can push and steer her pushchair up a hill with one hand and on her mobile. I'm definitely buying that one as there is no way the 3D can do this!!
The shopping basket is nearly impossible to get to in all configurations of the pushchair but I am not sure ...

I rushed in and bought the Silvercross 3D pram system as it was offered to me second hand but was basically brand new and I really wish now that I had done some research and shopped about first before jumping in for the bargain. PRAM MODE The pram part is an extra section that sits onto the pushchair section, it fits well and looked very comfy and cosy for my new baby. There is a pocket in the bottom of the pram part to hold small items (purse, mobile, ... ...I always did) then you cant access it without taking the entire apron off first. The pram section is also fairly small, I found that I had to move my baby into the pushchair by 5 months as she was too big for the pram, however she looked tiny and out of place in the pushchair. Advantages: Sturdy and good on all terrains, comfort. Disadvantages: Stiff, discolouration of the hood, pointless storage basket and heavy.
When you are pregnant you have a lot of hard choices to make, I found one of these was "which pram?". There are 100s out there, and its like looking for a needle in a haystack! I was looking for a pram which would fit into the boot of my Vauxhall Corsa, which this pram does, just. Its a pain to get in, you have to get the angle of the pram EXACTLY right and its fits in perfectly. This can be quite time consuming.
I also find the storage basket of ... ...an umberella and a picnic rug, anything else you can get in but not out again because of the structure of the pram blocking its exit. It lies to close to the floor. My son is 8 months old and have used the pram since birth, already the hood has ripped, just from making the hood rigid when it was windy and trying to block the wind. ...boot. I thought silver cross would be top quality being a well known brand having years of experience and knowledge of what works. It seems that this pram is just made to look good and hasn't had much practical testing done on it.
It looks really stylish but that doesn't actually count for much. At first it takes a bit of studying the instructions and fiddling about to work out how to transform it into the different positions. It folds up and down ... ...changing bag, why couldn't they sell these items seperately?
I just isn't as sturdy as I thought it would be. I would have expected a silver cross pram to be durable enough to last for a second or even third child but I'm not sure if this one will. ...

We purchased the silver cross pram just after Christmas & I had my little boy in March so we have used it for under 6 months. The pram was too small - he isn't a huge baby or particularly long in length but he was too small for the pram after 3 mths! Now I have to use it as a pushchair & it has broken. I was getting off a bus that doesnt provide a walk-on service & after struggling with my 6 mth baby & having to get my 6 year old son to hold him ... ...this pushchair over cheaper ones because I've had a silver cross before which lasted years but I have no intentions of buying another silver cross pushchair again, especially after investing £300.00 of my money!
On a plus note, it is a beautiful pushchair but I choose practicality over appearance anyday! ...

...need to buy the proper silver cross parasol for it as generic ones don't grip the funny shaped tubular frame properly.
Overall though, its a nice system once you get used to its quirks, but if I was buying another one, I'd be tempted to get a Britax vigour as my friend has one and its very well designed and of a better build quality with a more accessible shopping basket, forward/backwards pushchair seat, and you can push it with one hand. ...

...there is no way the silver cross (if it ever gets fixed) will last until my son is walking. We paid around £300 pounds and have not even had 6 months use out of it. Not what you would expect at all.
Also the shopping basket is near on impossible to use and quite small compared to other buggys ive seen.
My advice would be, DO NOT BUY unless you plan on purchasing a more robust buggy when your child gets bigger and you start getting about more. ...

The Silver Cross 3D pram system is a fantastic piece of baby transport. It's lovely to look at - very stylish, it's versatile transforming from pram to buggy in seconds, it's lightweight, folds compactly and it free stands when it's folded so easy to store in the hall or the understairs cupboard.
It weighs in at 10.3kg which for a nice solid feeling pram is pretty good, you certainly won't give yourself a hernia lifting this in and out of the car. ... ...can be used with the Silver Cross Venturer car seat (0+ up to 13kg) to make a travel system - ideal for Mum's on the run - altho' it is important that baby is not in the car seat for anything longer than 2 hours).
The folding mechanism is really easy to use and it folds telescopically, it has height adjustable handles which is great if one parent is small and the other tall - it should be comfy for both! It comes with a nice sized storage basket ...

I am very unhappy with this pram/pushchair. I purchased this product in February 2007. I decided to choose this model over a maclaren pram despite the extra cost as for the first few weeks I could have my new baby facing me. The product was very smooth and worked well for about 2.5 months. Then it started causing problems when folding and becoming stiff. At just over 1 year old (unfortunately too late to return I believe) it became very difficult ... ...not stay upright. I have done some diy repair on this pram but I now, after only 16 months of ownership will have tothrow it away unless I find a repair. I think that silvercross may now be trading on a past reputation. I would not recommend purchasing a £300 product that fails after just over 1 year especially as I have taken care of the pram and never overload or throw about. ...

I have used this in pram mode for 4 months. It has been a really lovely pram. Easy to push and manouvere . I use my pram several times a day on various terrains and have found it to be a smooth comfortable ride for my baby.
It has a lovely padded broderie anglais liner and my baby always fall asleep when pushing her!
I will soon be converting it to pushchair mode, so am looking forward to seeing how baby likes it! Its really easy to assemble puschair to sitting up mode but took me a while to fold it to put it in car!
I havent had any problems, the only down side is the footmuff thing that goes on pushchair its really hard to keep on as poppers come undone!
