Advantages: simple, small and free Disadvantages: gets a little bit frustrating later in the game
To say that tetris is a game in which blocks fall from the top of the screen to the bottom and using these bricks you have to form lines really doesn't show how frustratingly addictive and challenging the simple little game is. This is also true of Sim-tower.
This is one of those management type games like Sim-city and Theme Park.
This was released in 1994 by Maxis games (SimCity, SimAnt, SimFarm etc etc).
The Game is quite simple to play. You ... ...the object of the game is to reach "TOWER" status from the one star you start with.
At first your options are limited, you can build a lobby and stairs, lifts, offices, condos and fast food eateries.
With offices and condos you increase your population until you reach 300 and you become a two star tower.
As you progress through the stars to TOWER status, you are able to build more things. Hotel micro-management is fun, balancing single rooms, ...

Advantages: easy to learn, challenging to play Disadvantages: old-fashioned, highly addictive!
Sim Tower was the first 'Sim' game that my sons persuaded me to play. Unlike the various City games, this one focuses on a single tower block, where apartments, hotels, shops etc must be created. There are simple menus which enable the choice, and despite my reservations I quickly understood how to get started!
It took a few false starts as I tried to create too ambitious a project immediately and ran out of money, or did not build enough stairways ... ...I would probably still be playing now :-)
Other family members, and visitors in our home have also enjoyed Sim Tower. The sounnd and graphics may be fairly basic, but that is not necessarily a disadvantage for those of us who struggle to understand fast-moving three dimensional games. ...

Advantages: Simple and easy to play Disadvantages: n/a
Sim Tower is one of the classic 'Sim' titles that was released around 5 years ago. Basically you have to build a tower and successfully run it with the sole intention of keeping your tenents happy.
*The Game*
Ok, when the game starts you are presented with a blank skyline running along a stretch of earth, this stretch of earth is where you have to build. The object is to build the biggest tower possible and gain the highest population you can. ... ...star is given to you when you start, the second when you reach a certain number of tenents and so on.
*In Game features*
As you rise through the star system, you will be given more options of property's that you can build. To start with you are given, offices, condo's, restaurants, stairs, elevators, shops and lobbies. Eventually you will be given better variations to that above along with a number of amenties such as trash disposel, security and ...

Advantages: Fun for a while. Disadvantages: Poor sound, poor graphics, limited choice, will not sustain interest longterm.
...(as with most of the sim games) is good, you are charged with constructing a skyscraper. You do this story by story and the better the rating your tower has, the more buildings become available. This culminates in the cathedral which sits atop your tower. You can build hotel rooms, houses or offices as well as shops and services but that is pretty much it. There are nowhere near enough options to build to sustain your interest.
The main problem ... ...of utter boredom inside a short space of time (I would say 2 weeks maximum). It is a small simple game with few redeeming features. Other problems with the game include the lifts (you can only have a limited number) which creates movement problems for your tenants. This could have been an interesting challenge but is in fact just annoying (why would a building have a limit to the number of lifts or stairs it has?). The sound is repetitive and irritating ...

Advantages: Challenging, and will provide hours of fun Disadvantages: A bit repetetive, and can be annoying
This was the second game I ever bought, and it has given me many hours of enjoyment, as well as much frustration. I have no problems building lovely towers filled with offices, hotel rooms, condos, shops, retaurants, etc, but I can never get the elevators in the right places. A large tower can have as many as 100,000 occupants, and be 100 floors high, but you are allowed just 24 elevators, which can cover only 30 floors each. As the Sims much prefer ... ...who complains that the nearest elevator is still too far away. This game is fun - lots of fun. It's also extremely annoying at times. Trying to please several thousand occupants in one tower block is almost impossible! The sound effects are fairly good, although they can be a bit repetetive, and the graphics are good. It's a good game, and will give many hours of enjoyment to those who like to be in control. ...

Advantages: Sustainability, Strategy, Fun graphics Disadvantages: Angry residents, Money issues
Sim Tower is one of the famous "Sim" games, but this time you have to build and maintain a tower block. You must build condos, offices, fast food joints and hotel rooms. It may sound dull and boring, but theres a lot of depth in this game.
At the start of the game you have limited building options, but you'll love the fact your whole tower fits on one screen. As you develop your tower, people will move in, they'll get angry at slow lifts, angry ... ...in turn leads to stress for you! *lol*
If the people aren't happy with the tower they're living/working in, they will leave and get a refund. If all of a sudden many people dislike your tower, you could end up with a negative bank balance and many vacant properties. This I found out the first couple of towers I made.
The only hints I can give you are devote floors to certain types of building (eg floor 2 = condo floor, floor 3 = office floor etc) ...

Advantages: simple game, does not require a disc to play once installed Disadvantages: old fashioned graphics, has a habit of suddenly shutting down midplay
SimTower is one of the older titles produced by Maxis. The idea is to take your initial budget, and start building a skyscraper. You have to build wisely so that your units will sell or rent out, depending on type, in order to generate more income for you to build more onto the tower. You can have offices, shops, restaurants, cinemas, hotels, and even flats in your mix. Fires break out, you get bomb threats, and if you are not careful you can become ... ...game.
That said, I need to point out that as this is an older title, the graphics are rather old fashioned. The elevators zip up and down too fast, people move jerkily and in a repetitive manner. I also recommend saving very often as the game has a tendency to shut down quite suddenly and unexpectedly just as you really get going. I would love to see Maxis update this game just as they have SimCity. It is a good game with great potential let down ...

Advantages: It's a classic Disadvantages: It's old
Yes this game is very old and therefore, the graphics are quite poor as are the sound effect. It is 2D and there is little variety of sounds ie a bell ringing or a cough. Also, the people don't move about. You don't see people walking, instead, you see silloettes that flash up in different places to make it look as though they're moving. So, the graphics side isn't brilliant but I think the gameplay makes up for this.
There are so many things you ... ...you don't get bored easily or quickly, you have to reach a caertain "build level" before you can build certain things. However, I find it really hard to do this. You can build elavators and choose what floors they stop at and how many elevators you want. Your main income is from offices, appartments, restaurants and hotel rooms. The good thing is setting prices for each appartment or office. People won't come if you charge too much but you will make ...

...do it yourself in the Sim Tower environment.
Your task is to build as good a tower as you can, finally topping it off with a chapel and marrying a couple. You start from the ground up. First you have a small selection of rooms but as you progress you can add other, different rooms and make your tower even more appealing.
The game is basically a side view of the tower, unfortunately you can only build on a 2d plane but otherwise it would get very ... ...drag it where you want it.
You know how good you are doing by your 'star rating' which is basically 0-5 stars, like you get at hotels. And the ultimate "thing" is to get a chapel and have someone want to get married there. It really is a heart-breaking moment...
It really is a good PC game and I think you can download it for free on the internet, if anyone knows please email me ferrousf@hotmail.com .

...of the "Sim" range-okay, only Sim City, SimCity 2000, and Simtower-but I still think that SimTower could well be the best. You start off with a set amount of money, and have to built a tower with elevators, shops, offices, residences-and more. Keep the residents happy with a good elevator system and make sure they've got placees to eat for lunch and dinner to make more money. The "Condominions" are almost like banks-they pay you when you build it, ... ...them back-a mass moveout can leave you badly in the red. Alternatively, they're cheap for you, and expensive, yet popular for the consumers, thus being a great way to make money at the start to buy more offices-a good way of securing long term income, and a large population base. As you get more things (People, security offices, etc) you move up the "Star" rating system, and at each "star" you can buy more things.
A fun game, with no obvious flaws. ...
