Advantages: Great tracks Disadvantages: You are likely to swap it for one of the other Singstar CDs after a while
Fourth in the series, Singstar '80s for PS2 was released in the UK in November 2005 - making me 16 when it first came out. I've written about the first Singstar before, so as you're aware I was already a fan of the game and having Singstar Party and Singstar Popworld as well, it was only natural that I went on to buy this one!

I chose the solus edition because having previous Singstar games I already had the ... ...== Remembering Users ==
Singstar '80s stores up to 20 player names and photos on your memory card. This means that you can save nearly all of your friends and family on there, and each of you can have your scores written in your name, with your pictures by the side.
These users can also be assigned to teams in multi-player mode.
Once you have reached the 20, any new player added will replace the player who has played the game least recently. If ...

...into and release in the Singstar series. And they started with this one.
Singstar is basically home karaoke. You need two USB microphones which plug into the USB out of the playstation. The other USB port can be used for an Eye Toy so you can take pictures of yourself and your poor friends to put on your 'artiste' profiles. Watching the original music video, which since this is from the very early childhood of MTV and before is very amusing in itself, ... ...If this is your first Singstar buy and you aren't between 29 and 33 years of age, this might not appeal to you and you'd be better off with one of the more varied earlier editions. Because the tracks are picked to appleal to as broad an audience as possible, there is no hard rock. I miss Guns'n'Roses! They did some stuff as the 80s were drawing their last breaths. More inexplicably however there's no Michael Jackson. How you can have an 80s compilation ...

Advantages: Fun group game Disadvantages: Cheating is still possible.
I must admit I'm becoming a bit addicted to singing games and even though it was not really my era I do love going retro every now and again and this game has a great number of hits from the eighties that pretty much everyone will have heard of.
For those new to this format of game the objective is to sing along and match the tone and length of the notes being sung, the closer the match the higher the score you achieve. Within the game there is ... ...my preferred option as it involved getting a few friends over, opening the odd bottle or six of wine and having a fun time. Within party mode there are a few options such as Pass the Mic and also battle mode where two people go up against each other singing the same song, the only disappointing version in this is a sort of retro tennis game a bit like pong where you voice moves the paddle but I found this uninspiring and a bit boring.
It should ...

...you need to buy a Singstar game, which includes two microphones. The pack will included two microphones, a little black box with a little USB lead on it, and the game its about £30-40. They is a pong type game - where you control the paddles by the pitch of your voice - its quite fun for a few mins. Its not as good as the career mode as in the original Singstar Run DMC's It's Tricky and Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby use the Singstar rap meter - its quite difficult - but I can't rap and I am not a big fan of either of the tracks. Advantages: Great for parties, I'm getting better! Disadvantages: Might upset the neighbours!
I bought this game game (with the microphones) at Christmas last year and played it with my future Mother In Law (!) after a bottle of wine. Have since played it lots on my own (not as fun) and took it to my parents' house this Christmas. The microphones come with a USB adapter that you plug into the front of your PS2 and you navigate using the usual PS2 controller.
The game has several game modes; Solo where you can sing on your own or part of ... ...can sing together and try to rack up as many points as you can, you can compete against each other to see who gets the most points. There is also a Pass-The-Mic mode where there are 5 different types of game, you have to try and stay in the game.
The game works just like karaoke where the words are along the bottom of the screen and a bar shows you the notes you need to hit. You get bonuses for getting the whole line and "golden notes" which are ...

Advantages: Excellent for parties Disadvantages: Can just hum the tune and get top score
...thsif or the adults and Singstar Popworld for the kids. It was a great success. The songs are excellent and show the videos behind aswell. It is alot more easier to use than a karaoke machine as it does not take up as much room. Their is alos a very good selection of songs from fast paced to slow. The game modes are very good they range from party, duet, duel and free sing. It gives you scores after each song to see which microphone did the best ... ...at the end of the song you can play back what you have just sang and even change your voice into baby sounds or robot noises which is a great laugh.
The only downfall is that instead of actually singing the words you can hum them and still get a top score. But i must say this spoils the fun and is a waste of time because people won't think your trying anyway.
Overall i would say that this is a great party filler as it gets everyone having a laugh ...

...the latter.
I am a singstar fanatic, i own every version and have my preorder of Legends (expect review soon!).
The release of a new Singstar always gets my heart beating, but when i heard about 80's, it was oh so sweet. I have always loved music from this decade and consider it the finest era for music, ever!

It won't keep you entertained for long, but is definitely a good feature and is nice to see the developers thinking about new features.
The main selling point of this version has to be the amazing track listing. I don't think any person, young or old, could look at it and say they don't know any of the tracks. It truely does appeal to all ages. The forgiving difficulty settings allow ...

Advantages: 80's just had the best music Disadvantages: err Also had the WORST fashion
I was introduced to the Singstar game some time ago and I have to be honest was less that happy about standing up and singing even in front on my friends.
Wind forward a couple of drinks and that all changes, get a couple of people singing and even the most adamant non singer in the group will be up on their feet and sing their lungs out.
This is the fourth in the line of Singstar games and in my opinion, being as the 80's were my years, is the ... ...lucky enough to miss the 80's fashion will still know the songs.
This disc contains 30 songs and accompanying videos (where permitted) by artists including Alice Cooper, Belinda Carlisle, Blondie, Duran Duran, Kate Bush, Madness, Marillion.
Have no fear if you set the car alarm off when you sing and all the local pets try to hide, even being terrible at this game is fun.
If you enjoy having friends over for a few drinks and a really good laugh ...
