How I fell in love with a Skoda

Advantages: Large car feel, small car economy, great quality for the money
Disadvantages: None really!

...to my review for the Skoda Felicia 1.3. I actually own one of these. If you're wondering why i am able to write reviews on so many different cars, its simple...... I've worked in the Car auction and Car hire business, so have driven too many cars to mention. Ciao suggests being factual, so i'll use headings, and be as easy to understand as possible. Reliability This Felicia is greatly improved from the skoda's of old, and is a completely different ...
...Personally, i cannot comment on Skoda customer sevice, as i've never had to use them! I can only hope they hav'nt followed in the footsteps of their brethern at VW and SEAT. Security/Looks My Felicia is an eye catching shade of purply blue:-).Its a pleasant car to look at, as opposed to stunning, but it does have those cool wee hubcaps. The Felicia has decent security features e.g immobiliser and although i would suggest with any car that you ...

Yes, my hands are warm!

Advantages: Cheap, reliable
Disadvantages: Stigma

I can hear the snickering at the back! Yes i own one, and it does come with rear heated windscreen, but as mine has been breakdown free i have had no reason to get out and push. This is the third car that I've owned since passing my test a little over a year ago, and it has yet to let me down. Although of course it is due for it's MoT next month. Having read another review and it's only failing was an adjustment to the headlamps, i live and hope. ...
...say that it is not the nicest of cars to look at, I've seen worse and having grown up hearing all the jokes about the brand i was sceptical about being seen driving one. Not the type of car to be seen in when cruising for the ladies! Yet i can say that sitting inside it looks OK, although the inside is basic with no mod cons, and has the grey plastic interior, it suits my needs. The inside is spacious enough for 4 adults to sit comfortably, and ...

...double the value of a Skoda ?. Answer: "You fill the petrol tank up "! In those days cars produced by companies behind the then "Iron Curtain" were something of a joke and owners of such cheapies went through agonies from their mates. However, as we all know the Czechs peacefully overthrew the yokes of Communism and the old Skoda company was taken over by the German giant Volkswagen. Result a vast improvement in the quality of the cars produced ...
...The Skoda Felicia is now a highly competitive car with a surprising number of virtues. OK its never going to win the competition for the best designed family car, neither is as sleek and trendy as some of the Italian jobs. What it is though is a comfortable family car with a reasonable fuel economy and a growing reputation for reliability. If you opt for convenience and reasonable comfort over a sporty look and at a price of just below 7,000 pounds ...

This may not be what you think!!

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Lack of power at times

...is, wait for it…………… The Skoda Felicia. Our car, a 1.3 International Group “N” car is the best Rally car that we have owned in 7 years of the sport. At a cost of £3600 (including a small package of spares) it has been well spent. In the three events that we have done this year, it has let us down once! The problem: Third gear wanted to be part of the stage rather than part of the car!! Total cost to rectify: £75.00. Two years ago we ran a 4x4 ...
...this was in excess of £1000. The car has already paid for itself. The performance has never been earth shattering, but the handling is second to none. This has been proved on all the events we have taken part in, putting in top times on quite a few stages, often giving the “Big Boys” something to think about. Reliable car for first time buyers

Advantages: All-round economic car, strong body, very safe for passengers
Disadvantages: Interior a bit flimsy, seats not very comfortable, rear seat a bit cramped, expensive parts

...is what will make the Skoda a particularly attractive purchase. We bought in 1993 the estate version of this car, and have just now decided to change it. Let me tell you the good and bad points. The Skoda has a good strong body and in the few small accidents we were in, it stood up very well with less damage than the other cars involved. This is a major consideration if you have children, as we do. So, the car is very safe for its passengers. However, ...
...good gas mileage on our Skoda and combined with the initial price of the car, we found it to be all-round economical. However, if you need repairs remember you'll be paying VW prices since Skoda's engines are made by them. These repairs can be pricy, so keep this in mind. All in all, as our first car, we were very satisfied. ...

Disadvantages: poor finish, poor quality expensive parts, heavy steering, poor turning circle

...that was purchased purely because Skoda at that time were offering immediate availability, the Estelle was a basic but reliable car, it served the family well for many years before being passed on to a friend who drove it to Germany and back without a hitch. ...Skoda Customer services, and the (former) franchise holder in this area, ther will not be a Third new Skoda entering service here. The vehicle was sold as a new car, in fact they had to wait for a white one, which the dealer said he had collected from "up country" and driven back (hence the 250 miles on the clock of this new car...) but only when I was sorting out paperwork for my parents (having moved back to the area) I found that the V5 showed ...

Yes, I drive a Skoda - don't laugh!

Advantages: Easy to drive, unlikely to get nicked!
Disadvantages: Heavy steering, comfort pretty basic

...did, however, find a "one-owner" Skoda Felicia for £850. Despite the relatively high price tag (it's certainly the most I've ever paid for a car) I was willing to be persuaded. I laughed when it was suggested that a Skoda might be worthwhile - yes, I've heard all the jokes (and made a few) - but I thought what the heck, let's give it a shot. When I bought the car it had recently been MOT'd, and my previous experience had taught me to expect something ...
...it's my family's policy to buy bangers and keep fixing them up; who am I to argue with tradition? I was pleasantly surprised, then, to find that it lasted seven months without even a twinge. No oil leaks. No water leaks. No petrol leaks. Of course, no great thing can last forever, and in December the clutch decided to go on me. Even so, I managed to find a handy little garage which changed the clutch THE SAME DAY - so much for foreign cars being ...

Excellent little car

Advantages: Free servicing and AA cover
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable on long journeys

What a wonderful little car this is. We bought it on a special deal, 20% deposit, paid for on 3 years interest free credit. Also in the deal was 3 years free AA cover, 3 years free servicing, and with mores extras on top of that, Power steering, central locking, drivers air bag, to name a few. A racing car it is not, around town it is cool enough, on motorways the national speed limit can easily be maintained, with hardly any engine noise. It is ...

Czech Mate

Advantages: Well priced and comfortable
Disadvantages: The name still puts people off

...next car would be a Skoda Felicia, my heart sank. The name Skoda normally brings out all the tired old jokes and smart remarks, so I was dreading it. When VW took over Skoda, things began to improve due to the experience of VW, and the Felicia was the first model produced after the takeover. Even the most diehard car snob had to admit that Volkswagen had come up trumps. The Felicia has a satisfactory 1300cc engine, and while it was not as nippy ...

I love my Skoda!

Advantages: Fuel economy, space, price
Disadvantages: Heavy on the steering, Brand image

My Skoda Felicia Estate (N reg) is reliable and hasn't let me down in 4 years. Other than putting up with the jokes it has been the best car I have ever owned. My local dealer also does the repairs and servicing. Parts seem easy to get and are fitted swiftly and efficiently, not that we've needed many. Fuel consumption is excellent. I do a mixture of low mileage town driving and moderately longer distance for business. My Felicia was bought second ...
...I would recommend a Skoda if you are looking for a new car. The Felicia is an older model and the newer models certainly look mor attractive but in my view this makes my car less attractive to car thieves! The insurance premium seems to reflect this too - which is a bonus. My aim is to now upgrade to a Skoda Octavia, which I think looks better. More like a Bank Manager's car! ...

SKODA FELICIA 1.3

Advantages: Very very cheap.
Disadvantages: Too small and slow

This car doesn't really fit very well in the modern world, in many aspects it seems to be too 90's. Even with just one or two people in the car, its acceleration and general speediness is very bad, its far too slow, and you certainly wouldn't want to try and join a road with many cars going high speeds from standing. The space in the car almost verges on impractical. For example you would definalty have great difficulty fitting a weekly food shop ...
...that there is a slight squeeze not only in the back but at the front too, and thats even when the seats are in a normal sort of position. Over all this car is cheap and chearful, its very basic, very bland and basically you get what you pay for, and its hardly going to break the bank. In my opinion the exterior is stuck in the 90's, and for general purposes such as shopping or carrying stuff about in it, its quite impractical. Trying to get some ...

Skoda felicia is low cost & reliable, great for first car

Advantages: Spacious, reliable, cheap to run, low insurance
Disadvantages: Parts tend to rust

I have owned my Skoda Felicia 1.3 LXi Plus since I was 18 and I am now nearly 23. I love my car, it has been very reliable and very easy to work on as well. The only downside is rust, but then again I had a few bumps in it, so that didn't help. It is a little noisy but with my music on, it fades away into the background. It is quite nippy to say thats its only a 1.3. It is in a low insurance band (Group 5 I think), which makes it perfect for a first ...
...most I think I have got from it is around 38 mpg. Parts are relatively cheap to buy and can be easily fitted yourself with a Haynes manual. For a small car, the interior is quite spacious and as I am at uni, it is perfect for transporting my things from home. One of the main problems that is a common fault with most felicias is that the suspension cups tend to rust, so they require checking but I have only had to change mine once, as it was the originals ...

Good allround car

Advantages: Decent size boot, cheap to run and insure
Disadvantages: Not the best looking, large turning circle.

I love this car- I bought it for long trips where I needed more space, and it works wonderfully! The boot is roomy, the seats comfortable. It handles very well, and is nice to drive. I should really add that I have the estate version. Mine is a V reg, with power steering. I find it cheap to run. Within the first few weeks of having it, someone went into the back of me at traffic lights. My car came away with a dented bumped. His needed quite a bit ...

A good 1st family car

Advantages: Good fuel economy, reliability, and service package
Disadvantages: Not very quick or nippy, and noisey at motorway speeds, Low trade in value

Having bought this car as a 1st car, with two children to cope with, it has performed its role superbly. Originally purchased in 1999 it has covered 45,000 miles to and from work, on holidays and days out with few problems. The only time it has been in the garage has been for its services and to cure a minor rear wiper problem. Fuel econaomy has been good averaging well over 300miles between fill ups, working out at an approximate average of over ...

We have only used this service to get the keys out when locked inside and to change a flat tyre because I dont like getting my hands dirty. On the down side, it is not quick with a top speed of 94mph and a very umimpressive acceleration, but then I did'nt ...
