Advantages: good cheap family car Disadvantages: slow on hills
...I bought my first ever Skoda brand new. It was an R-reg, my first ever brand new car, because for a family car it was exceptional value. I paid £10,000 for it, and that was the on the road price, now I call that VERY reasonable. It is a very practical car and very reliable.
The Skoda dealer offers a very good after sales service and nothing is too much trouble. There is a Three year Manufacturers Unlimited Mileage Warranty, plus Three years Full ... ...I found that the Skoda was the butt of everybodies jokes, but I now feel that they have almost certainly lost that joke appeal! With the car being stylish I find that a lot of people now look and say "thats never a Skoda!"
Anyway, back to the car itself. It is a very nippy car around town and drives very well on a long distance journey, you can fill the tank quite cheaply and it does around 50-52mphg. It corners very well even in a high gear. One ...

Advantages: mainly reliability, cost of ownership, practicality Disadvantages: Comfort and looks
...My father originally purchased the Skoda Felicia in Oxford back in September 1997. My fathers main priorities with a new car were practicality and reliability as he commuted 140 miles a day into Heathrow plus the extra miles he would do when he arrived home. The cost ... ...My father used the Skoda for about 14 months, doing about 35,000 miles in that time. The mileage from the diesel was excellent (about 50mpg) and the cost of ownership was fairly cheap. The car was (very) regulary serviced due to the high mileage my father clocked up and we got to know the staff quite well. Soon after passing my driving test in 1998 my dad got a job working abroad for 6 months so I began to drive the Skoda. Being 17, the Felicia wasn't ...

Advantages: Cost (both purchase and running), reliability Disadvantages: Comfort
I bought my R Reg Skoda Felicia 1.9D in March of 2002, so far I have had absolutely no problems with it, it is very cheap to run as it does 50+ mpg. I learnt to drive partly in this car so it has taken a fair bit of less than perfect driving, without any complaints. I absolutely love this car, there are not too many of them about so I feel as if I am lucky to be driving one.
It is an ideal first car, insurance costs are very low (group 3 I believe), ... ...per year). It is not the most desirable car in the world, but if you are looking for a cheap, practical hatchback that will last you for miles and miles of problem free motoring, then this car is ideal. I really cannot praise it enough.
However the seats are rather uncomfortable, and I would not recommend this car for someone who would be commuting for several hours each day, journeys over two hours or so begin to get a bit uncomfortable, but considering ...
