    Advantages Advantages Able to pause, record, stop and rewind.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Way too many problems

    How many times have you brought an electrical item on a whim and gone about a year later, why the hell did I buy that? Well you'll never will say that with Sky +. This is probably the best thing we as a family, have ever brought. We were always fans of watching TV, I adore American TV dramas, and really struggled on a Thursday to not miss my favourite TV shows, however as soon as we brought Sky +, this was never a problem. The Brand Sky + Sky + (Plus) is a PVR, which stands for a personal video recorder. I was actually shocked to find out, it was actually brought out in 2001, we didn't even ... more

    Advantages Advantages Some Great Interesting Programs...

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

    ------------ Sky TV ------------- I must say, Sky Television is one of the most successful company's in my eyes, and it's not hard to see why... I thought Television was a little boring when there were just five channels, but then out came the Digi boxes which i noticed before Sky. The Digi box came with more channels than the usual five on the normal Television, so then I thought that the digi box would be the king of Television, but then I was mistaken when I discovered Sky Plus Television.... I thought I would check out what Sky Plus was all about, so i logged on to the Sky Website and ... more

    Advantages Advantages No more damn adverts, very easy to use, can pause/rewind live TV

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some bugs and if a programme starts late, you might miss the end

    I love Sky+. If I thought I could safely get up onto my roof and shout it proudly to everyone down below without slipping and breaking my neck, then I would. It's fantastic and as much as I hate Sky for the frequent and shameless price hikes, for the constant bombardment of adverts and for having no real competition to keep Rupert Murdoch and the gang in check, I have to say that I am won-over by Sky+. I hardly ever used to watch TV before getting Sky+, because whenever I wanted to watch it, I could rarely find something worth watching. Now, I really am able to create my own channel and watch ... more

    When it comes to technology, it is generally accepted by my local community that I'm not very good. I do try, but if I'm using your computer I'll probably break it. If we're talking on the phone I'll probably cut you off and have to lie to you about going through fictional tunnels. Even when we both know I'm using the home phone, and if you ask me to use any of the functions on my mobile phone at any sort of pace, I'll get a bit cross with you. I'm alright with the television though. It's a box of fun with only a few numbers to press to make things happen in front of me. Nice and easy ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Cost, apparent software bugs

    The main advertising slogan for Sky+ is “create your own TV channel” – and it really does do what it says on the box! (MOST of the time… read on!). It really will change the way you watch television and, possibly, make you watch more television! Ok, so to start at the beginning… WHAT IS SKY + ? Put simply, it is a satellite receiver which also has a hard disk drive inside that can store up to 20 hours of television programs. You can pause and rewind live TV and set the box to record a whole series of a particular programme automatically. Interested? HOW DO I GET IT? There are two possible ... more

    Advantages Advantages We watch what we want when we want

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me

    SKY PLUS Move over sliced bread, there's a new kid on the block! From now on I will describe things that are good,as the best thing since Sky Plus! I'm of an age to have been around for the first of the Ferguson video players (as so wonderfully described by the brilliant Peter Kay). There was no remote control- you had to walk over to the machine to do all the recordings, and the amount of times we settled down to watch a film my better (?!?) half had recorded only to find a recording of something completely different. My goodness didn't we think we were something, with our mock leather video ... more

    ~~~Our History with Sky~~~ We have been customers of Sky now for over 6 years. We first became customers upon relocating from just outside London to southern Cheshire. Being that we moved into a cottage in a rural village up on a steep and very stony hill, we were unable to get cable, and the reception was terrible with an aerial, so we signed up. Having no major issues, when we moved from rented accommodation to our newly purchased home, we moved our Sky account as well. When we rang up to notify them of the impending move, they were extremely helpful. I vaguely mentioned we were moving on ... more
    Advantages Advantages Easy to use and plenty to do with it
    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can have a few annoying moments
    We've recently had Sky+ (well a few months now) and I've finally decided to write about it, feeling that I've used it enough to know enough about it to be able to comment. Sky+ was an extension on to the Sky service in which we were now able to digitally record programs and series. Long gone we're video tapes, DVD's life time as a recording medium was short lived and the advent of digital media recorders are on the rise. Sky jumped on to the concept swiftly following in the steps of TiVo who to the best of my knowledge originated the idea. Sky of course is the satellite TV system run by the ... more
    I have had my Sky+ HD box for the last twelve months. I am very pleased with the excellent features, and the HD picture quality is fabulous. However, the service is not flawless. I signed up for the service following a visit to a local electrical retailer looking for something entirely different. I do not consider myself to be a gullible consumer, but after seeing a Sony Bravia TV displaying a HD picture I was smitten and nagged my wife into accepting that we needed these things to replace our perfectly good CRT TV and standard Sky box. The Sky+ box cost £260 in July 2006, and there was a ... more
    It’s fair to say that I am a huge fan of Sky’s digital service and, more specifically, their Sky Plus package. Whilst recent reports show that Freeview has now become the digital reception service of choice in this country, with eight million set-top boxes installed on main televisions throughout the UK, just pipping Sky’s customer base by a few hundred thousand, it is hard to argue with the multitude of channels you get from Sky’s various television packages. And if you want an interactive hard-disk recording service, right now there is little out there to rival Sky’s Plus service. The ... more
