    Advantages Advantages Plenty of Choice

Disadvantages Disadvantages £40 a month subscription

I’ve been procrastinating for quite some time about whether to take the plunge into the world of Sky digital, my freeview box was simply not up to the job as I live in an area with poor reception and so had to suffer constant stutters and picture freezes which were starting to drive me mad. Also, being a big football fan there is only one television company that shows decent matches week in week out as well as numerous film channels and a plethora of twenty-four hour news feeds, the fact was that if I was to move my telivisual habits into this century I was going to have to subscribe to Sky ... more

Advantages Advantages None whatsoever, unless you like hassle!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Diabolical customer relations, even worse field escalations department.

I'm not here to write about Sky products, I'm here to write about Sky TV themselves as a company. This is about their reluctance and inability to help a customer of over 18 years. It's about passing the blame, making sure THEY are all right. It's about dragging out a problem until you pass the contract grace period, then you are obligated for it's term. I've been with Sky Television for years now despite never being a fan of their customer service whether it's contact by phone, letter or email. Quite often there have been discrepancies in my bill over the years and it NEVER takes just one ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, menus load up quickly, interactive functions, ergonomic remote

Disadvantages Disadvantages many household arguments over the sky remote

We had the standard analogue cable television that came through NTL (our cable network round here) from about 1992 from when it first came out right up until 2002. When we first got the cable in 1992, we paid £16 for around 50 channels (which was good then), however by 2002 as cable suppliers were switching from analogue to digital, we were getting more and more channels chopped off each month, yet we were still paying £16. By the time we had only been left Cartoon Network, QVC, Sky News and UK Gold, we decided it was time to get digital. Now, I had never been impressed by NTL’s digital ... more

So we’re told, we will all need to get digital television sooner or later, the ordinary terrestrial tv transmissions will stop, so if you want to watch tv you’ll need digital. For me, I’ve chosen Sky. ~~Why I Chose Sky Digital~~ I used to watch a lot of tv, but since the arrival on my computer I, and we don’t watch a lot, mostly we watch videos, dvds, films and such, but actual TV, no not much. Of course there’s only so many videos and dvds we have to watch, and so we constantly find that we struggle to find something, and on a Saturday night (we’re not one’s for going out much), not being ... more

Now here's an experience that I will hold dear in memory and hope that you too can share sometime soon... Whilst looking at the latest Sky deals available over the internet (www.sky.com) I saw a little advertised offer - Sky will install Sky Digital, Minidish and Digibox for the princely sum of £1! Yep, you read it right and I didn't spell it wrong - £1!!!!!! The Catch? Pay the £1online immediately, and subscribe to Sky World Package (£34 a month - consists of all movie channels all sports channels, basically every channel Sky currently runs, except Film Four and MUTV). Not bad really ... more

Sky is a provider of Digital TV in the UK, and offers a wide range of channels, from entertainment, to movies,to music, to sport- you name it, there will be something on sky. MIXES AND PRICING The pricing on Sky is very easy. You can of course, decide to subscribe to the Sky Freesat service, which offers you channels on sky, which are free to view, through the use of a freesat viewing card. Purchasing FREESAT FROM SKY, is basically sky - with no monthly fee. However, there is a one off payment of £150 applicable. On Sky, there are 6 different mixes. Advantages Advantages More telly

Disadvantages Disadvantages More telly at the expense of no video

Two months ago, sick and tired of looking forward to a night in front of the telly and then finding nothing to watch, I finally succumbed and signed up to Sky Digital. I live in the country and have no access to cable or On Digital, so my choice was made for me. I chose the Sky Family Pack at £16 per month. I ordered my digibox online. I gave my credit card details and selected the date I would like them to come and fit it. A few days later I got a letter confirming the date. Then, the day before, a Sky representative called me and told me what time to expect the engineer. Great! The engineer ... more

Advantages Advantages Sometimes too much choice

Disadvantages Disadvantages Be nice if it was free

Hi, Most people know about the benefits and features of sky - well at home we don't have Sky it would cause too much trouble over who wants to watch what - so at my second home (my boyfriends parents house) its a novelty to have sky. It costs my boyfriends dad £41 a month which is quite costly but does have like every channel - well trying to watch what you want at weekends is like waiting in a queue but not getting anywhere - so when an advert popped up about sky multiroom i went online to see what it was about (as the number flashed on and off screen quicker than you can say sky!) So what it ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Occasional problems with Digi-box

I have had BSkyB for about four years in total, initially with the analogue system, before changing to Sky digital about seven months ago. Moving from analogue to Sky Digital was fairly painless, and the installation of the sky mini-dish went without problems. After a couple of weeks we started getting problems with the picture breaking up, so we tried to contact Sky. We ended up getting stuck in an endless loop on their automated answering service, but when the engineer turned up it was discovered that the problem was caused by a poorly fitted mini-dish. Since then we have had very few ... more

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN November 2000 Having been an analogue customer of Sky for 5 years I was interested in switching to Sky Digital when a media announcement was made around September 1998. I phoned for an application pack, received it, filled it in and sent it back to Sky. Then nothing happened. The company said that it was deluged with applicants and had a huge backlog of applications to process. I waited till March 1999 when a newspaper article said that Sky had thrown away bundles of applications in the bin, as it could not cope with the demand. So I phoned Sky which had no record of my ... more
