I know what you're thinking. Why in the name of all that's healthily nutritious would a hunky guy, who's obviously in the peak of physical condition, be writing a review about a slim fast bar? Well I'm afraid I can't answer that. But I can tell you why a fat git like me is writing a review about it. I scored one of these from a freebie site. Why would I do that? because it was free (duh). Yep, I like it when the price is right, and at zilcho spondulas, the price can't get any righter. But even so, was it worth it? Oh the excitement. Advantages quick and easy, tasty
Disadvantages jaw ache! ( see below), price, are you really saving on fat/calories??

I have never tried Slim-fast products before and saw this bar advertised on a freebie site and thought what a great way to try something! free!! see below for how to get one free.. Anyway, firstly in case you don't know Slim-fast is a company that specialises in diet food and do a wide range of meal replacements just 200 - 250 calories of which this meal bar for breakfast is one. They also do great snacks that are less than 100 calories each! This review is however specifically about the Fruits of the Forest meal bar - a substitute for 1 breakfast. Advantages Made me not want to eat...
Disadvantages Expensive!

I'm writing this op entirely on the SlimFast meal replacement bars - I'm found all the other things quite nice! I bought all the SLimFast bits and pieces - the shakes, the meal replacement bars, the snack bars, the pastas and the soups, and I set out to try them all. SlimFast sets everything out so that is very easy to follow: you need to use 500 calories a day more than you eat: a woman should be eating 1200-1400 cals, and a man should be eating 1400 cals minimum. A SlimFast meal replacement is around 200-250 calories, and has all the nutrients etc. that you need. You are supposed to swap two ... more

Advantages The 3 second sweetness of the creamy yoghurt
Disadvantages Tough, chewy, dry, bland and a stale after-taste are a few...

I’m going to be honest with you. This is a product I would never ever have tried in a million years. The only reason I ended up trying it was because it was sent to me free. On Sunday when I had nothing better to do I was indulging in my Ciao addiction (hurrah for the internet). The “free slim-fast bar” ad kept on coming up and I kept on clicking it shut. But then as it kept on coming I could only focus on two things: Number one: it was food. Number two: it was free. Who can turn down free food? Who? Not me. Disadvantages Made me hungry

When I arrived home from work this morning I noticed my mail box was bulging, Oh no not more bills I thought but it was a package that was taking up all the room. At fist I thought it was a free sample of some new fresh luxury washing powder and immediately started to dreft off, in to dream land and thought of washing my bedding in meadow fresh smells and how wonderful it would be to snuggle up in my luxury bed tonight. But much to my horror it was a free sample of a Slim Fast yogurt muesli meal bar, oh well never mind it's something to eat anyway should be tasty, how wrong was I !!! The bar ... more

Disadvantages expensive, false, doesn't really work, tastes horrible...need i go on?!?

hmmm...slim fast?? Sure, it works! Whatever you think, but my opinion is that it's a psychological thing. If you're living off these slim fast bars and products then you want to loose wieght. Therefore you're going to try everything to loose wight and it won't only be because of these products. It's all in your mind. If you want to lose weight and believe you can...you will! Slim fast still contains the same calories and fat as some of the normal brands, so why waste your money? Think again before you buy the expensive "fat free" products - they're not all they seem... ... more

I logged onto this (Ciao's) website a week or so ago and a banner advert at the top kept offering me the chance to try a 'low cal low carb' Slim Fast snack bar for free. Bargain thought I, that will fill a hole when I get peckish at work, and will be healthier than a chocolate bar. So I clicked through and selected the 'Scrummy Chocolate & Hazlenut' variety. Today I decied to try it as I was hungry and had nothing else to hand in my desk. On reflection, I think the desk may have been a better option. What a great idea - chocolate without hundreds of calories! Ok, so I admit the bars themselves are snacksize (which probably helps with the calorie content) but I love the fact that I'm on a diet and I'm being good by actually eating chocolate! They taste great - thats both the meal replacement bars and the snack bars, and new flavours keep appearing in the local store where I buy mine so theres variety out there if you can find it. It makes a refreshing change not to have to eat fruit all day everyday (boring!) and just knowing I've got a treat mid-afternoon really helps to keep me going when ... more

Advantages Low calories, great texture.
Disadvantages Slightly bland.

After putting on half a stone over the summer thought it was best to go on a diet. After having tried several disgusting cabbage diets and cereal diets, I decided perhaps it was better just to cut out high caloried/high fat foods instead. I am very fond of sweet stuff and therefore find it impossible to totally cut out sweet stuff altogether. Slim fast bars are the answer! They have a fantastic texture, appear in different varieties and basically tase loveky. I was suprised at the very reasonable price too. The fact that they are so low in calories is an added bonus! I would recommend this bar ... more
