...I was persuaded to try Slimming World.
I have to admit, I was very sceptical. It claimed all I had to do, was each morning decide what food groups I was going to stick to for that day, and then I could eat as much as I liked within that food group all day. Plus, with a few 'healthy extras' from other food groups so that I got all the nutrients I need. I decided to stick to the 'Red' or 'Original' menus, which was mainly based around lean meats, ... ...summarise, I have found at Slimming World you lose weight healthily and steadily. It's more of a healthier lifestyle than a diet, and as such, you learn how to eat better, but still treat yourself every now and again. The most important thing I learned was that feeling 'slimmer' was more important to me than a taste which only lasts a short time. Everyone is different, but if you want to lose weight, I highly recommend you try this. ...

...and decided to join a slimming club. This is no mean feat believe me, as it is a big step to take. Most people will say that they dont need any hep to lose weight, and that they will do it on their own, but as someone who has been overweight all my life, i knew i wasnt going to do anything about it on my own. if i could have i would have by now surely. So I decided to visit the website, I checked out a few first, Rosemary Connely and so on, but didnt ... ...the least embarassing option of Slimming World. You simply have to visit the web site and type in your postcode to find a club in your vacinity and the times etc it is open. i also noted the telephone number of the lady who ran the club and decided to give her a call to let her know i would be coming down. All went well and I arranged to go the next tuesday.
So that Tuesday at 6.00pm a very chubby and very nervous me went to this slimming world ...

Advantages: Great way to meet new people, great way to lose weight and not feel hungrey Disadvantages: can be a bit tricky to pick up to start with
...mind!) I even tried slimming tablets, and let me tell you, yes they may work while you are taking them but when you stop, you end up putting on twice as much and the side effects of taking them are horrible. I ended up having panic attacks, shortness of breath, palpatations and mood swings that would make Bin-Laden look friendly.
Then just over 2 years ago, as I said, I discovered Slimming World. A friend ask me to go with her as moral support, ... ...but I'll give it a go.' Well here I was weighing in at 13st and only being 5.2" and I thought I was going to be the fattest, shortest person in the club.
When I got there, I was totally different to how I thought it was going to be, not like Weight Watchers where they call your weight out so that everyone can here and basically embarrass you into lossing weight, they just take your registration card write down your weight and the amount you have ...

Not sure it would work, especially when I was told I could eat an entire roast chicken as long as I was taking the skin off, I thought I'll try my best (ie: following the plan but trying to eat as much as I could since they were saying it was ok!)...and surprise: it worked: I lost weight straight away and didn't feel I was losing out...

...have been a memeber of slimming world since september 2007 and i am still attending every wee which for me is an achievement in itself. Slimming world is a slimming club that you pay a weekely fee to attend this fee is £4.50 which can become quite expensive but they do offer count down packages where you pay for your weeks in advance and can get weeks for free. For me i joined slimming world after I gained lots of weight after having my son and also ... ...when you sign up for slimming world you pay a £10 joining fee which covers the cost of ur books, these books become your bibles! So the books are also in 2 sections red and green are you following so far??? Good il carry on! GREEN PLAN The green plan is all about your potato, rice and pasta so if you love these then green is a good choice. So on a green day you can eat as much of the above as you want there is no limit eat until you are full. RED ...

...now, I decided to try Slimming World to help. Being in my early 20's, I want to look and feel healthy! I'd tried other diets before, and the weight came off, but as soon as I stopped going to the meetings it all piled back on.
I decided to go to Slimming World as 2 other women where I work had started the week before. From what they said it sounded simple and so I went along.
The meetings are weekly, and living in Southampton, there were loads ... ...great at explaining exactly what Slimming World was about, and she went through everything in detail so we knew exactly what we had to do. We got a pack, with your book in, which has all the things you need to know about food in it. We got 4 weeks worth of food diarys, a body magic pack and 4 weeks of fitness diaries.
The slimming world 'bible' tells you all about the food plans. You can either choose to have a red day, or a green day. Red days ...

Well, like many slimming clubs, add-ons make extra profit and Slimming World is no different, of course they are optional but the sins directory is £5.95 and there are various little books for £1.50 each. I personally bought 'In the Can' and 'Free Branded Foods Directory' both of which were £1.50, and found them well worth the money, especially free branded foods. ...Stepping into Slimming World was strange. The chairs were arranged in a circle and some people were sitting down, others being weighed. One thing I did notice thought was the buzz - there was people everywhere giving each other support and smiling. My consultant, Paula has been in the slimming world magazine many times for her great weight loss and I had chose her because she is a vegetarian and I’m not too keen on meat.

POrobably the easiest way of doing it is to go only to a local class. Its 10 pounds to join and 3.75 a week after that. Does seem rather steep to get weighed but I find it a great incentive to stick to the ... ...again soon as. The don't embrass you or anything but shouting out your weight, or by the scales saying 'one at a time please' but make you fell proud that you've lost weight, even if in my case it was only half a pound some weeks. The diet can be split into 2 distinct eating plans.
The first is a meat day. Basically you can eat as much meat, that is any meat, including bacon, steak, fish, chicken etc. Certain types of processed meats are allowed ...

...already written a review of Slimming World, but I am going to add my tuppence to the pot, and perhaps will encourage someone else out there to become a little healthier in the meantime.
I love slimming world. I've been a member for several years now, I'm not at goal yet, but in that time I've gone abroad for a year and a half to study (only put on 4 lbs in that time), got married and had a baby. My weight loss is currently at around 2 stones, and ... ...To put it simply, Slimming World is not a diet. It is a way of teaching yourself how to eat properly, and as a result of that, if you are not already a healthy weight, you will lose weight until you are. It teaches you to fill yourself up on normal healthy foods, such as pasta, potatoes, meat, poultry, fruit and veg, diary products, nuts, cereals, bread, to name a few. ...came across an advert for Slimming World in the local paper I decided to give it a go and join. It was £6.95 to become a member and then, at the time, was £2.95 a week, (I think it is £3.25 a week now). When you first join, they take a few details from you and then you receive a couple of books. The first keeps a record of your weight, and hopefully your weight loss, and the other has details of the slimming plan and what you can eat. You can also ... ...towards.
At Slimming World, there are two slimming plans to choose from the Red/Original plan and/or the Green plan; used together you are able to ascertain maximum weight loss.
The principal behind losing weight at Slimming World is that, first of all, the more food that you eat, then the more weight you are supposed to lose.

When joining Slimming World there is a £10 joining fee, with the 1st class free. Normal weekly charges is £3.75. On your 1st class you will be weighed, as you will be every week. You will also be given 2 booklets. 1 small purple one where the lady in charge keeps a diary of your weight etc. Then a yellow book called 'food optimising' where it tells you all about the foods you can/can't have. Well, there's none you 'can't have'. It's just ... ...types of diet plans you can choose from. There's the 'original' diet where you can eat more meat and less pasta, lentils, pulses, grains etc. Or there's the 'green' diet where you can eat more pasta, lentils etc and less meat. You can do one diet one day, and the other the next. Or do 4 days or 1 diet, and 3 days of the other. It's totally up to you! It's so simple really.
On either diet you can have between 5 - 15 'sins' a day. These, I suppose, ...

I joined Slimming World earlier this year after recommendations from friends. I will admit right here my willpower is very poor, and I love food, so the normal calorie counting diets that have forbidden foods never work for me as I can never eat enough of the foods that I like.
It is 6.95 to join, and then 3.25 each week after that. Unless you make prior arrangements with the class leader, any weeks that you do not attend still have to be paid for ... ...for newbies and explained how Slimming World worked. The diet works around a system called Food Optimising. It has been planned by trained nutritionalists, and you choose each day to be either green or original. The whole eating plan is based around the idea of healthy eating that can become part of your lifestyle rather than a diet which is restrictive.
