    Got a Smeg A2 just after they came out. My wife did a long and exhausting comparison with just about every other range cooker available before settling on the Smeg. Our runs on LPG. This was a simple conversion, all the bits were included and detailed instructions given. It has been heavily used, my wife cooks for an old folks club in the village. The only problem in the 6+ years was the thermocouples were flakey. The gas would sometimes be hard to light and would occasionally go out.     My cooker is about three years old. In that time I have suffered from the following problems: two fan motors have burnt out, the ignition system failed after a terminal block caught fire, five out of six gas burners are extremely difficult to keep alight once lit and are prone to cut out without warning, and the ignition system has developed an ability to turn itself on at random. I have paid for a Smeg authorised engineer to fix the problems, unfortunately he did not sort the problem with the gas burners, I was told to push harder on the ignition knobs.     Where do I start. 1 year on from buying this range cooker, I am on my second unit. Love the way it looks and (when it works ) cooks, but not the fact that the first oven had a nasty habit of going into pyrolytic mode on it's own - not good when it locks your Snday roast in the oven and goes up to 470c !!! In all fairness after I had 7 engineer visits, SMEG did replace it with the same model, but as I write this I am currently on hold (21 mins so far) for the SMEG service centre. What's the problem this time........this oven will not go into Pyrolytic mode at all ! So, if you want something ... more
