Hiss!

Advantages: Educational for children and can pass boredom
Disadvantages: Doesn't keep entertaining for long periods of time

...am sure everybody knows what snakes and ladders is but, I shall explain just in case! The game can be played by as many players as you want really but, you tend to find most of the bought games have pieces for 4 players at a time. The game board consists of a square board which has 100 small squares printed on it. The squares tend to be different colours and more often than not they consist of red, blue, yellow and green. The board also then has ...
...when the continually land on snakes and end up back down at the bottom of the board! Of course there is only so much of snakes and ladders that you can play as it is geared more towards children to help them with numbers, colours and to also help them to learn how to play as a group and to interact with others. I think it is a classic game but, played too much in one go soon gets boring. Price: The board game is pretty inexpensive - I bought mine ...

Advantages: Educational, fun

Snakes and ladders, Played this game at school today so though I would write an opp. I seem to remember my grandmother having a set for us children to play when we visited Snakes and ladders. The game of snakes and ladders is a simple board game with counters and a dice. The board has numbered squares ladders are drawn on leading from a numbered square to a square of a higher number. It also has snakes leading from a high numbered square down ...

How Snakes and ladders was invented perhaps

Advantages: Helps children to learn to count
Disadvantages: No skill involved so lacks long lasting appeal

...……..that’s my version of how Snakes and Ladders was invented. Here’s a brief synopsis of how the game is played today! On a 10x10 board divided into equal squares, players start off in square one. By rolling a dice they progress up the board by moving the number of spaces indicated by the dice. Initially moving left to right, and then moving up one level and moving right to left, the object is to get to square 100 before ...
...roll the exact number to get on the final square). Easy peasy or wot? Well there are a few complications – if you land at the bottom of a ladder (after using all of your dice roll) you can climb the ladder. If you land at the top of a snake, alas, you must slide down to the end of its tale. There isn’t any skill involved in the game, just pure luck. It is a colourful board to play on, and perhaps is suitable for young children to help ...

Snakes and Ladders

Advantages: educational, fun for children, available at reasonable prices, easy to play
Disadvantages: not so fun for adults!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Snakes and Ladders ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Snakes and ladders is a very simple board game that has been around for years. The aim of the game is to get to the 'end' first. The game is based on the roll of a dice and therefore is purely down to luck. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How To Play ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The board consists of rows of 10X10 numbered squares. There are pictures of snakes and pictures of ladders ...
...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Variations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Snakes and ladders is a very popular childrens game and so there are many variation of boards, some are very basic, made from card with simple pictures and cheap plastic counters and dice. Some are more attractive boards which have more detailed pictures. Travel versions of the game have been made and these are basically magetic boards the counters stay attached until moved by the child. ...
The Slippery Slope
Advantages: So very easy to learn, effectively there are only three rules.
Disadvantages: No depth, won't last beyond childhood.
Snakes and Ladders, wow, there's a name that brings back a memory or two. People that have read my Opinions will find that there's a lot of board games in there, and most of the one's I rate highly are the ones that avoid the 'roll a dice and move some spaces' style of play. In that, I'll admit that amongst my sizable games collection a copy of snakes and ladders is not to be found. It's a simple game, the board is divided into squares in a 10x10 ...
...down the board to the snakes tail. So the race has become complicated, short cuts can be used or slip-ups can be made which set the players back. The problem is of course, that it's entirely random, there is no skill involved, no strategies which can give a player an inside line to winning and in that the game will have no lasting appeal for adults, but the point is it's a game for children, and in that it should function well. Older kids will ...
Play Wabbits & Windows? Nah! Snakes & Ladders!..
Advantages: A good kids game.
Disadvantages: None at all.
Snakes and Ladders! An old game played by kids, A good classic game. You all know the rules, you have all played the game, so why are you even reading this review? Good question, yes, but the other question is, Why am I writing it? The answer is this:-. I start with the fact that the game is easy, so easy in fact that you don't even need instructions, you could get people who have never seen a board game before, to play around and have a good time. ...
...a game console or a computer that can do this like good old Snakes and Ladders. Here lies my case. Sorry if the review is a short one. The game is a Good Classic Family game. Better than obscure games like Wabbits & Windows, or even Razors & Runways??? ...
Down the snakes, up the ladders.
Advantages: Fun to kill some time.
Disadvantages: See review
Snakes & Ladders is a simple game which children enjoy to play anywhere, anytime. HOW TO PLAY You begin at the "Start" square, and roll the dice and move your counter that many spaces. The first one to get to the "End" sqaure, is the winner. It's not all simple, because if you land on a snake, you have to go down to the square where the snake trail ends. But, if you're lucky, and land on the bottom of a ladder, you go up to the square where the ...
...VALUE FOR MONEY I brought my Snakes & Ladders game for £3.99. This is still about the average price and I think it's good value for money. OVERALL The game does get boring after a bit, but if you have no other games to play, it's fun! ...
Uppers and Downers
Advantages: .
Disadvantages: .
...has heard of or played snakes and ladders(known as 'chutes and ladders' to any readers from across the pond) at least once in their life? Oh well for those who haven't here are the basics. You have a board with a hundred squares on it, a counter for each player and a pair of dice. At various places throughout the board there are ladders, which lead up to a square higher up the board and chutes, which lead down to a square lower down the board. Players ...
...squares they indicate. If they land on a ladder, they can go up it to the higher level and therefore gain an advantage over their counterparts, but if they hit a chute, they must slide down to a worse position. The winner of the game is the player to reach the very last square on the board. As you can see this is a very simple game to play and as such can be enjoyed by all members of the family. It is especially suited to younger players as it is ...
The Fun Wears Away As You Get Older
Advantages: Kids Love It
Disadvantages: Adults Find It Boring
Snakes and Ladders is an old fashioned favourite. It can be boring for adults but kids love it. I had the normal version and the giant version which was a big plastic mat with giant pieces and dice. SETTING UP Basically unfold the board and choose your favourite coloured piece. Put your piece next to the first square and not on it. This rule was argued against sometimes but I stick with it. AIM OF THE GAME To get to the 100th square first. RULES ...
...If you land on a snakes mouth you go down it. 5) If you land on the same square as somebody else then THAT person has to go back to the start. 6) You have to roll the exact number to get onto the 100th square. If you roll a number too high then you have to come back the excess number. OVERALL Kids seem to love this game but when you get older it becomes boring. The rules are often argued over too. When we got bored of this game we played ladders ...
A classic children's board game
Advantages: Quick and easy to learn for the young
Disadvantages: not very thought provoking
...many squares. There are also Snakes which if you are unfortunate enough to land on a head, you are compelled to move you counter to the bottom of the tail, which is lower down the board. This is particularly annoying when you are getting close to the end of the game, as the snakes tend to put you almost back to the start! Players roll the die and move the counter the number of squares indicated. The winner of the game is the player to reach the ...
...can see this is a very simple game to play and as such can be enjoyed by all members of the family, particularly the younger ones as it is easy to learn/play and they can get very excited about it (especially when they are winning!). I cannot recommend this as an adults game, as there is no element of skill and it is not thought provoking. Younger children make this is a great game. ...
A Waste Of Time
Advantages: Can help children learn to count
Disadvantages: Its all luck, no skill, repetitive
...often wonder why people play Snakes and Ladders. Adults certainly must have a pretty drab life if they find they have nothing better to do other than to play Snakes and Ladders. What does play this game actually achieve. Trying to find something positive to say, well, I suppose it helps younger children with their numbers. As the board has 100 squares all numbered it helps them count in units of ten. The game is played by throwing a dice and you ...
Snakes and Ladders is fun
Advantages: Cheap to buy
Disadvantages: None
...to ask constantly to play Snakes and Ladders. Before we had actually purchased it for her, she used to ask us to try and draw a Snakes and Ladders board on a piece of paper so that we could play. I decided therefore to buy it for her at Christmas time, and out of all the expensive gifts that she received this has been one of her favourites. My younger daughter loves it as well and I think that overall it is a good game that all the family can join ...
