4 Stars DON'T GET YOUR SNICKERS IN A TWIST! Review with images 06/09/2008

Advantages Advantages Delicious, usually cheap, widely available, lots of different tastes

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be sold more expensive, nutrition information, not suitable for nut allergies

DON'T GET YOUR SNICKERS IN A TWIST! HISTORY Mars Mars is a well known company around the world, and I'm pretty sure almost everybody you ask in the UK will have heard of at least five Mars Products. The Mars Headquarters remain in Virginia USA, however the products are sold world wide. The most famous Mars product, is namely the Mars Bar, however there are many other delicious and well known confectionary items produced by Mars, such as Twix, Malteasers, Skittles and the classic Topic bar. Recently, in April 2008, Mars inc. bought the worlds largest chewing gum company, Wm. Wrigley Junior, and ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice nutty taste, good value

Disadvantages Disadvantages Perhaps a bit too sweet for some

Preamble/ramble Having not embarked upon a snack related review for a while, I believe now may be a good time to address this particular deficiency! I’ve decided to choose the Snickers Bar as the subject for my review as it is a snack that I enjoy on a regular basis. Probably too regular a basis if I admit it, but there we go! That Name Snickers. That’s the name of this particular chocolate treat. Now call me old fashioned but I feel that there is something not quite right about this name… I suppose it comes down to the fact that I remember many moons ago when these bars were called Marathon ... more

Well I finished mine in about a minute, not bad going that! Apparently in the 90’s Snickers was one of the most popular chocolate bars around, today it finds itself competing with a much wider market. But still the Snickers is holding on strong. And my late afternoon sugar cravings are what’s keeping it going. I’m calorie counting at the minute (yeah right), and this little beautie weighs in with over 300 calories and nearly 18g of fat, so my guess is the Weight Watchers and Slim Fasters amongst us, cant have any of this delicious bar. So a definite no, no for the calorie counters amongst us ... more

Oh shit! why, what makes you think that? I’ve just come down to make breakfast and there’s a package in the icebox. It wasn’t there last night and it’s not anything I’ve seen before. OK Jack, first things first, where are Teri and Kim? In bed Good, go tell them to stay there, I’ll get the people together here. Well, along with Mars, Snickers in the 90s was a very popular chocolate, if not the most popular. But, with age, and many new chocolates out on the market, is Snickers still the best? Well, with its caramel and nuts, it does make you go weak at the knees, but if you went into a shop, would you buy Snickers? Or would it still even be there? Snickers is an all time favourite and throughout the 90s there were different adverts for it every 6 months it help sell it. Mars and Snickers were one of the first chocolate bars to be sold, and if you didn’t want a box of chocs, these were brill ... more

Advantages Advantages Better value than Mars

Disadvantages Disadvantages Nuts don't like me ... Awwwwwww !!

For my fifth in my choccy op series I was tempted by the Snickers that resided in my fridge freezer which I have removed from it’s icy depths and have placed it on the table in front of me proving that I do indeed have self control as I have not yet eaten it. =[ Goes and toddles off to make himself a coffee for writing the op and for eating the Snickers bar !! ]= I’ll explain in a minute about the coffee !! Anyone old enough will recall that the Snickers bar wasn’t always thus and was once your much loved Marathon bar. I say “ your “ because I never cared for them much until a couple of years ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Calories

When it comes to chocolate, I am really fussy. I can't stand the cheapo, fatty kind of chocolate, but I don't like the dark chocolate either. I love white chocolate and milk chocolate although for obvious reasons (i'm very weight concious and like to eat as healthy as possible), I very rarely actually indulge. My friend had a multipack of snickers in her bag earlier today, and offered them around. I had totally forgotten about Snickers bars - i've not had one in ages although I am familiar with the brand due to the advertisements (with Mr T!) and because Snickers have been around since I was ... more

Whatever happened to the King Size Marathon? I hear you ask. Well, when I recently went out with a real hunger in my stomach, I came across the Snickers “Big One” – and big, it is. Weighing in at a hefty 100g, in the brown corner… is the Snickers, with that distinctive brown wrapper so instantly recognisable to many. Of course, this Snickers is just a newer name for the peanut-filled chocolate bar as a result of Masterfoods’ desire to have a homogenous product. Homogenous it is, and Snickers are widely available worldwide: a real example of a super-brand. The ... more

In all honesty...I don't like Snickers. Well, I don't think I do. I am writing this review with the chocolate bar sat untouched in front of me, waiting for me to try it. I haven't had one of these for agesssssss and when I say ages, I don't mean as in a few days; I mean as in many years. Mind you, I last tried these at a time when I didn't like nuts though in recent years I have found a liking for fruit and nut chocolate, honey roasted peanuts and honey coated peanuts so maybe the tasteuds will turn! Read on to find out! The snickers packaging has changed since I last remember it but only with ... more

Back in the good old days, before we were online and no-one could even spell emoticons, never mind know how to use them, and revenge raters were still to take that first tentative slither from the primeval slime, there was a chocolate bar called Marathon. I expect the name was conjured up to convey images of a chocolate bar packed with energy of Olympian proportions. Personally, I think it was because eating one of these bars demanded a marathon effort of chewing. To solve this mystery the manufacturers - Masterfoods - with consumer welfare being of the utmost priority, had the foresight to ... more
