The tale of 6

Advantages: look below
Disadvantages: look below

Sonic Adventure is like no other Sonic game – Sega should be proud of themselves with a game of this calibre on a machine such as the Dreamcast. SA does not just follow Sonic, but five other characters as well, each with their own storylines, stages and ultimately, bosses. Sonic was relaxing in a hotel in Station Square. It was a quiet day – the sun was shining and the beach sand was a brilliant white. Yet out of nowhere, a plane appears! ...
...a nosedive! CRASH! Sonic ventures off to find his friend… After participating through the first level, Sonic eventually reaches Tails and the crashed wreckage of the plane – Tails now becomes a playable character. Each of the other characters – Amy, Knuckles, E-102 Gamma and Big the Cat – are unlocked like this, creating multiple angles to look at the storylines. Sonic inevitably has the most stages and probably the best ...

sonic is back

Advantages: play as six different charecters
Disadvantages: egg man is back

This game is fast. Sonic games have always been about speed and in Sonic Adventure the blue hedgehog is faster than ever. If you have already played the previous Sonic titles on the Megadrive then the gameplay will be instantaneously recognisable except that the action now takes place in a wonderfully detailed 3D world. The twists and loop-the-loops are still here and sonic goes even faster around and through them. Sonic’s new world is lavish, ...
...in the future. Sonic is not alone, he now has a whole host of friends to help in his quest and each one of these is playable. Tails and Knuckles return from previous games and there are also new characters in the form of Amy (the love interest), Big the Cat and E-102. Having multiple characters to control at different parts of the game adds greatly to the variety of gameplay, especially as they are each so different. There are also sub-games dotted ...

A recommended adventure even if your not a fan

Advantages: Everythin, its amazing!
Disadvantages: There is a sequel on the way, so get the first soon!

...a game. It received Sonic Adventure from creator Yuji Naka. This was one of the most anticipated games of all time. The only time the multi-million selling hero, Sonic, had ever received a 3D treatment was in the Saturn games `Sonic R` and `Sonic Jam` but neither of these games were proper plat-formers and on a 32 bit system, although still better than the aging playstation, Sonic's speed could not be justified. When the Dreamcast was announced, ...
...a fully 3D sonic world in which our hero, sonic, could travel around many places, desserts, snow, mountains and even over oceans of some sort. Nobody was prepared for the video that leaked out of Sega’s offices months later. It showed Sonic flying around at incredible speeds through a city landscape. The detail was amazing and the speed was breath taking. Everyone wanted to know about this game and it sold dreamcasts quickly upon the release ...

This is why Sonic's been missed

Advantages: Good graphics, Plot and lifespan
Disadvantages: some glitches

sonic has been missed and why not the games that appeared on the master system, mastersystem2 and megadrive where no less than outstanding, only now do we get a chance to seen what all the fuss was about. Sonic is now in 3D and for the first time it is a full game. The graphics shine in 3D and the first thing that really hits you about the game is that the speed is unbelievable and it takes quite a while to get used to. The game is enormous and has ...

...be said about us loyal Sonic Team fans. We're obsessed. Yuji and the boys could publish a blank disc and we would flock to buy it. Basically, they've never put a foot wrong. From 1991 with the advent of Sonic the Hedgehog to the wonders of NiGHTS, there's something that Sonic Team does that makes their games special. When 1998 arrived, along with the announcement of Dremacast, Sonic Team announced that their mascot would also return. Now Sonic Team ...
...little bit special. Of course, Sonic was taken back to the drawing board and renovated, to try and shift off the 'culldy' status he seemed to be gaining recently. I mean we have all seen the scary eyes poster, heven't we? Scared me witless. Anyway, Sonic was back, looking more fresh, and a little older, and ready to kick butt in all-new 128-bit glory. So, onto the game. I remember October 14th so well, when i plugged in my DC, inserted the disc ...

Supersonic

Advantages: Great gameplay, fast, fun.
Disadvantages: Difficult

...2' game, I found other Sonic games rather disappointing, as they weren't fast enough. The awful Sonic 3D was useless. I think that Sonic Adventure comes the closest of all the Sonic sequels to recapturing the camaraderie of Sonic 2. This is for a number of reasons. For a start, the game has superb 3D graphics and images, and the game moves along very quickly - Sonic runs faster, and there are the old familiar Sonic looping special effects, albeit ...
...making it unique in the Sonic range, as it requires you to think rather than just run as fast as Sonic will go. This fortunately does not interrupt the fluidity of the gameplay. Perhaps the game's biggest flaw is its difficulty. Sonic was basically a run jump and win game; it was never designed to be compatible with the role playing or puzzle scenario. The game is considerably more difficult than other Sonic games in that it is more difficult to ...

Sonic makes a strong return

Advantages: good concept, great graphics + sense of speed
Disadvantages: No 2 player option

...the same thing with the Sonic Adventure series as Nintendo did with Mario 64. Sega have pulled the feat of bringing sonic into a free roaming 3D environment brilliantly. I am not a great fan of the previous Sonic games, with the exception of the first, which was a landmark classic in its day. This game is huge and really does go quite some way to illustrate the power of Sega's new entertainment system. The game is split into several chunks (1 for ...
...a choice of characters each with their own set of individual action areas. The storyline to the game is very strong, with clever junctions between each of the characters, which really add to the immersive feel of the game. Another nice touch is the "choa" mini game which allows you to breed "Tamogatchi" type animals in the 3D game environment and transfer them to the memory card in order to take them for walks. Although it may not take too long ...

Sonic is back, and now he can TALK

Advantages: Fairly well animated
Disadvantages: The occurance of glitches within the game, and the sequences

Some of you may remember Sonic The Hedgehog from the old master system, then the mega-drive, now he's back on the Dreamcast looking better than ever before, and now makes use of the dreamcast's power by allowing him to talk for the first time, SEGA brings you SONIC ADVENTURE!!! The reason that I bought this game was because of the huge amount of hype that its been given before its release, and it doesn’t disappoint. Sonic once again returns ...
...much to worry about. Sonic Adventure contains scenes of pad pumping action, as the gameplay is so fast, and gives you a sense of thrill throughout the game, this is one of the games best qualities, and is surprisingly easy to control. There are however moments in the game where you start to get tired of doing the same thing, however there are many sub-games for you to enjoy. As you progress through this game, you gain more characters to play with, ...

...to swallow is that Sonic fans have had to wait an entire generation of hardware before seeing an adequate answer to the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Mario 64 from their beloved Blue Bomber, so of course, the hardcore have rested a great deal of their gaming hopes and dreams on the prickly back of our speedy friend, making Sonic Adventure one of the most anticipated titles to hit the states since Nintendo's masterful Zelda 64 late last year. But what would all this beauty be if we didn't zip past it with all the urgency and excitement that has typified the series to date? Why, none of ...

Advantages: Best platformer out there
Disadvantages: None

Sonic adventure has to be one of the best, if not the greatest, platformer ever. The sheer length and playability not to mention graphics are superb. The game combines all aspects of everyones favourite game in one brilliant game. Seven characters, over thirty levels,10+ mini games and a virtual pet (chao). This game had enough to keep me going for months. Each of the characters is unique (Sonic is fast, Tails can fly, Knuckles can glide, punch, ...

Advantages: Graphics are great
Disadvantages: difficult

Sonic Adventure is still in the Dreamcast top 20, and rightly so. It is a top quality game which has clearly set the benchmark for future adventure games in terms of Graphics, playability and shear fun. Sonic is joined by 5 friends new and old and has to, again defeat his ongoing arch rival - Dr Robotnik. The game has literally hundreds of brilliantly designed levels and some breath taking graphics and special effects. Sonic is easy to play and, ...

Not what it should have been

Advantages: Some classic Sonic elements are still present.
Disadvantages: Unfortunately not many of them.

...one level to the next, Sonic must travel around a 'real' world (complete with humans!?!?) and enter levels through doorways and caves etc... It works in the way Mario games are done but, for some reason, it feels out of place here. If there game had kept the old Sonic style and transferred it into 3D worlds, as Nintendo did with Mario 64, this would have been a much bigger success. I did buy a Dreamcast in the end and I'm glad I did. There are much ...
