4 Stars Sonic Generations - The Best of 20 Years Review with images 13/05/2013

Advantages Advantages The best of Sonic's 20 years

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not great longevity and not very difficult

I've always loved Sonic the Hedgehog - you can probably tell if you've read my previous reviews - and so I was ecstatic when Sega brought out a game featuring the best stages from 20 years of Sonic games. There are 9 stages from 9 of Sonic's main series games - Green Hill from Sonic the Hedgehog, Chemical Plant from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sky Sanctuary from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Speed Highway from Sonic Adventure, City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2, Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes, Crisis City from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Rooftop Run from Sonic Unleashed and Planet Wisp from Sonic Colours. Advantages Advantages Old school sonic, Music

Disadvantages Disadvantages Short and 2D sonic is creepy, Silly story.

I will start by saying I only rented this game and played to the end over a week, because after seeing others finishing it in a weekend, I didn't feel it would be worth the £40 price tag it had. The story The story is really silly and non-logical. However, You play as a talking hedgehog. What can I say? Your sonic, it's your birthday and you get sucked into a back hole type thing, taking you to a colourless dimension with no exit in site. Meanwhile, another sonic from 10 years ago also ends up in the same dimension, and you have to work together to restore colour and peace to the strange place ... more

    Advantages Advantages Very playable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too short on gameplay

Sonic generations is an excellent platformer. This game involves two sonics, the very first sonic who was played on the mega drive. There are nine levels. The very first one is Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant, Seaside Hill, Crisis City, and it goes up to his latest incarnation in Sonic Colours. Each level has two sections, one which has to be played as original sonic, and the other as modern sonic. The main downfall with the game is the ease of it. Each level has five bonus sections, where sonic may have to use his friends to get to the end of a level. The graphics are great. The main boss at ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of special stages to complete

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite brief

Sonic generations is much better than I had expected. Every stage comes from sonic's past including Green hill zone, emerald coast etc. There's even a sonic colours stage that lets you use the wisp's powers. Every Stage has a modern sonic, Older sonic and special versions of stages. The old sonic gets rid of his enemies by spinning on them and are 2D side-scrolling stages. The modern sonic stages include the ability to boost, homing attack, wall jump, grind rails and more. Theres many special stages which most of time include sonic's friends and enemies, With his freinds sonic uses thier ... more
