Advantages Compact with an excellent battery life and great sound quality, audio cd, mp3 and atrac compatible, the atrac cd creation software is very user friendly
Disadvantages Atrac software only works on windows pcs, not macs, included headphones feel cheap, doesn’t feel particularly robust

In the beginning there was the audio tape. Actually that’s a lie but for the purpose of this op I’m going to ignore vinyl and the older tape formats because, to the best of my knowledge, nobody designed any personal battery-powered gadgets to play them on the move. (Presumably, in the case of vinyl, because the stylus jumped too much when you walked) Anyway. In the beginning (of this op) there was the audio tape. Advantages Beautiful, well designed, excellent remote, battery life, features, outputs
Disadvantages Horrid software, "spin up" time in atrac/mp3 playback could have been better avoided

You rightly expect something special from Sony's "flagship" CD player, after all they more or less invented the whole portable audio player market single-handedly. The D-NE1 certainly looks the part, consisting of brushed aluminium top panels with transparent plastic surround so you can see your cd spinning merrily, and all the various sockets and buttons discreetly placed round the outer edge of the unit. Advantages No skipping, batteries last long, good sound system with good headphones
Disadvantages Little pricey, Buttons layed out funny, No fast foward for MP3 tracks

Sony has done a bang up job on their latest and greatest MP3/CD player. The retail was at $119.99 (for all Brits out there, this is about £75). The package comes with headphones, a strap so you can prevent it from slipping from your hands, and of course the player itself. The player is small, lightweight, and efficient. I came across this product whilst bored after doing my homework, fantasising about an ipod so I could store all my music. Whilst searching around the Internet I stumbled over many CD Mp3 players. I'd never heard of them before so I was intrigued to find out more. I had owned a Sony Minidisc player for about 2 years, and had become fed up with having to change the Minidisc every so often (yes I'm very lazy!) and it had become broken and did not want to send it of to the manufacturers to mend it which would have been very costly. Advantages Quite cheap, yet good sound quality and range of features.
Disadvantages Volume doens't go high enough!

When you buy a CD player there are a few main criteria that need to be met and this CD player meets most of them. Unlike a normal MP3 player it can also play ATRAC3plus files. This is a compressed file type which gives similar sound quality to MP3, but about half the size. Put simply, you get more tracks on your CD! Like all MP3 players it can handle both recordable and re-writable CDs, as well as standard audio ones. One feature which is very useful is the ID3 tag facility. Advantages Atrac capability, battery life
Disadvantages poor software and value for money

I got my D-NE715 about a year ago and since then it has served me ok but is nothing special. There are a few nagging issues I shall address later. Sound Lets face it it’s a Sony, the sound quality is very good, with Mega Base to get you jumping and AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System) which protects your lugs. Another feature is the G-shock, I know most players now have a very good anti skip system but the one on this player is great, I have never had it skip on me, even when I take is snowboarding! Advantages Can play mp3 cds cd-r and cd-rw, has auto volume control, virtually shock proof,
Disadvantages Only that i personally think its a bit pricey.

I was quite upset when i knew it was going to be last time i saw my younger brother for at least six months (no he is not goin to prison he is going abroad with his job), but when he gave me his brand new personal cd-player i thought well six months isnt that long. I greatfully accepted it and have tried it out so i am now going to share my thoughts with you. This NE511 portable MP3 player from Sony is really great. However there is software that comes with it and won't play your MP3's, that's right. Sony has brought out some software to make sure that you don't copy other peoples music. Which is great because, at the end of the day, not that many people do. However to play music you must copy your music from a CD or download it from SOME websites (I say some because you must FOR REAL OWN THE SONG). This is not good if you have a whole bunch of sony already on your hard drive and want to use. They will not be able to be played on this device. Also ... more
