Advantages: Atrac capability, battery life Disadvantages: poor software and value for money
...the player are fairly standard Sony ones and unfortunately my ears seem to be a funny shape, which just doesn’t agree with them, so I had to get new ones. I’m sure they work for most people though

I don’t know what Sony was thinking here but SonicStage SIMPLE!! Burner, the software you use to make your ATRAC CD’s, is one of the worst programmes I’ve used. It really has given me endless problems so….
Is it worth it? Killing two birds with one stone is often a good thing to do, playing your audio CD’s and having mp3 and large storage capabilities is a great idea but especially with the price, I don’t think Sony have pulled it off ...

Advantages: Battery life. Sound quality. OK as basic CD player - no more! Disadvantages: Poor software for making compressed CD's.
...but I've been unable to write one to find out! There is no software to produce MP3 CD's unless you happen to have it pre-installed on a SONY laptop - they don't tell you that as you buy- try iTunes, free from Apple!
Earphones are prone to drop out! ...

SOUND
First of all, the sound is excellent, particularly with the Mega Bass turned on (this is always good on Sonys). This is partly due to the excellent headphones, which are really comfotable and ergonomically shaped. MP3 playback is at high kbps, ensuring great sound if your MP3 encoding is OK. The player is packaged with some simple burning software, so this should not be a problem for ripping new CDs.
EASE OF USE
Not as great- the player ... ...a bit useless- who really wants to program 64 songs?? The shape of the unit is also a bit of a pain, for some reason i find it really easy to drop, mainly due to it's circular form. The LCD display is useful and displays all the relevant info you want, including text from the CD-R. Another good point is the stick remote, which is well designed and miniscule.
DURABILITY
For jogging, this is excellent, the G-shock system really stops skipping, and ...
