Advantages Advantages Recahrgeable so save on battery power

Disadvantages Disadvantages Almost fifty quid for just a tape player

Good things come in small packages, what more is there to say (think what you will of this, just remember in the words of Napoleon 'it isn't the size of your ship that matters, its the amount of seamen you have that counts'). Anyhow, as I was saying, this Sony cassette player is tiny, 11cm long, 8cm wide and 2cm thick. For something of such a small size, it delivers superb quality. What does it do you may ask... Have you asked it yet? Why not? Ask it... Good. Unlike other Walkmans, this one only plays cassettes, it does not have an in built radio or GPS or MP3 or coffee maker with milk frother ... more

Advantages Advantages Build quality, size and features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

The Sony WM-EX 605 is purely a personal cassette player. I bought one last week for my six year old daughter, as she likes to listen to books on tape. The unit features are: Feather touch controls, auto reverse, remote control, and up to 35 hour battery life. Feather touch controls basically just a gentle touch of the button will activate that function. Auto reverse well this turns the tape over without removing the tape from the unit but this is an intelligent auto reverse it can be programmed to play both sides of the tape once or continuous play (where the tape will continue to play until ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Available in grey and blue, listen to radio and tape, good quality sound

Disadvantages Disadvantages The price in the online shops

I bought this in 2001 for £19.99. You can still buy this walkman on various places online like http://www.electronics-online.co.uk for £24.99 or on www.amazon.co.uk for £39.99. Also you will find it on online auction sites like www.ebay.co.uk and www.ebuyer.com. I can't believe that the price is that high for a product that has been on the market for 5 years already. This walkman is available in two different colours. Blue, which the code for is WM-FX193L and Grey, WM-FX193H. I don't think the colour makes a different to the walkman itself to be honest but it's nice to have the choice. I have ... more

If you are reading this because you like me and what to show me your support, thank you and read on. If you are reading this because you are interested in getting one of these tape players, go and get your head looked at. I won this in a raffle about two weeks ago. Freshly wrapped straight off the shelf from Tesco (they left the price on). When my ticket was drawn out the winner, I went up to claim my prize. My mate said not to be tight and donate it to the charity that the raffle was for, but me being me said no. And don't I regret it. Yes I got home and opened it, thinking because it looked ... more

    Advantages Advantages Simple to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Old

This was my first ever walkman, which I bought about five years ago. At the time it was considered to be the latest technology. This is a tape and radio walkman. The tape player has all of the normal functions (play, stop, reverse and fast forward). It has an auto stop function, so that when the tape gets to the end, it will automatically stop, meaning you avoid damaging the tape. It however does not have an auto reverse function, so you do actually need to open the tape door, take the tape out and put it back in the correct way. The buttons are the old fashioned style, where you can actually ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Built-in radio, comes with good headphones

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No mains facility

I bought this Walkman awhile ago for an around-the-world trip and have been impressed. I use it most days even now. I paid £19.99 from my local independent electrical retailer. Argos sell it for the same price, I think. The unit measures approx 9cm by 4cm by 12cm and weighs in at approx 250g. The contrast of blue and metallic silver makes this personal stereo look the part and is unlikely to look dated quickly. I was quite impressed with the headphones supplied. They were the foam-backed ones that don't jam in your ear! Far more comfortable, in my opinion! The player takes two AA sized ... more

    Advantages Advantages good sound

    Disadvantages Disadvantages a bit big

I won this about a year ago and i am glad i did . This plays both tap and radio . The sound quality is supperb , however to the best sound quality i advise you to spend about another 20 pounds on a desent set of headphones .The headphones that you get in the box are only basic and so lack on qualiy . The tape player has got basic controls ( play, rewid, fast forward and stop). It has got a atuio revers funtion so that when the tape reaches the end it will autiomaticly start playing the other side. This saves a lot of time, as you don't have to turn the tape over all the time. However, you need ... more

    Advantages Advantages cheap, goodlooking

Disadvantages Disadvantages not very good quality of sound

Now this is a great looking walkman, it is a great design and fairly slim. It is quite cheap, only £30. you get up to 24 hours play with two aa sized batteries, it has feather touch operation of its buttons this i like because some walkmans you have to press and they can be difficult and do make noise. It has auto reverse, mega bass, dolby b and and a belt clip. This is a grat walkman design alone but it does not give you great quality of sound but it is decent. ... more

    Advantages Advantages great design

    Disadvantages Disadvantages useless

ok, so on first sight this is a great looking piece of equipment. the design is silver, sleek and sexy, and is sure to catch your eye. its not bulky and is relatively light, so it won't stand out that much if your carrying it in your pocket (why did i write that?) the fact of the matter is, nobody uses cassette players anymore. they don't even sell music cassettes anymore! i got this quite a while ago so its use has been outdated, however, for the £55 i paid for it, it was pretty good, and if any of you have a burning desire to buy a cassette player, let it be this one. the sound quality is ... more

    Advantages Advantages cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages out dated design

in this day and age many people dont bother with personal stereos anymore its more ipods personal cd players and mp3 players however if your looking for a cheap and reliable cassette player this one is perfect for you apart from the mega bass there are no other fancy extras with this model but what do you expect for only ten pounds It has to be said that the looks are a little out dated but the sound is fairly good and thats all you want really the only problemive found so far is that for some reason every now and again it stops working for half a second with a comfortable pair of headphones ... more
