Advantages: state-of-the-art optics, big tilting screen, optical stabilizer, face&smile detection
Disadvantages: awkward jog dial, lens hood ridiculously big

Great Camera if you can't make the leap to a DSLR

Advantages: Picture Quality
Disadvantages: Shutterspeed for active shots

In my opinion It's lightweight and easy to use. I think that the pictures come out fantastic!! Battery life is decent. I recommend as with any camera to have a charged back-up battery with you at all times. It's not the best if you need to capture pictures quickly...shutterspeed is lacking.
