Advantages Advantages Compact, easy and fun to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Memory stick provided is not sufficient - Further sticks can be expensive

Being a dedicated manual user for many years I felt I had to catch up. After many months of complete bafflement, Itried to find out from numerous magazines and web sites what would be the easiest and best camera to use. I decided to take the leap on a trip to Canada last year, and put myself in the capable hands of an assistant at Dixon's at Heathrow airport. After demonstrations of several different makes I plumped for this camera , mainly due to its ease of use and nice looks. I have tried to make this review as user friendly as I can for the technophobes, with whom I sympathize as I am one ... more

5 Stars Point & Click with a Memory Stick Review with images 12/12/2003
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Great photos, easy to use, PAL cable

Disadvantages Disadvantages No carry case, need to buy extra memory

Myself and hubby bought this camera at the airport on our way out on honeymoon. I've got a nice little Kodak APS camera, but we felt that for this one occasion we would treat ourselves with some of the wedding present money we had been given to a good digital camera. Upon check-in we made a beeline to the duty-free shops (well tax free or whatever it is now). We wanted something that was good value and that was easy enough so we could learn to use it on the 8 hour flight. So the nice man in Dixons recommended the Sony DSC-P10 camera (possibly because they were on special offer and the shop was ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality pictures/mpeg footage

Disadvantages Disadvantages Small amount of memory included

I bought the Sony DSC-P10 digital camera after plenty of research, which is a minefield! So many to choose from. Went for this one, because of the quality, 5 Megapixels, and from past experience Sony seem to be a reliable brand. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that it didn't have a case included, (and my mum has since bought one that did!) and that the memory stick included was only 32Mb, but nevertheless I am really pleased with it's performance. Mpeg video is of good quality, and you have two image quality options to choose from. By shooting footage at 640 (VGA) mode, on a 32Mb memory ... more

5 Stars Well defined photos, without problems Review with images 15/04/2004
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages easy to use, excellent quality photos

Disadvantages Disadvantages not cheap, no webcam function.

I have recently been on the look for a new camera (as my old one's don't work anymore). The sony p10 was always recommended to me by friends and professionals as a good camera, so I went for it and bought it. It is not cheap per se but for the quality photos you get it is well priced. It's a digital camera with 5 megapixels and 3x optical zoom. I have to admit, i haven't yet learned all that the camera has to offer, but only because it is so much. I have been taking photos for one month now and it is very easy to learn how to and to take them. With this camera you don't have to stand around ... more

Advantages Advantages Lightweight, Compact, Stylish, 5Megapixel

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not many!

This camera has every feature you could need as an individual looking to buy an easy to use, robust digital camera. I wanted to get rid of the need for carrying films around with me - I travel quite a bit and my photographic demands are very diverse: from taking pictures of leopards hidden in trees on safari to images of dolphins interracting with fellow divers 20m underwater. I am not a professional photographer - I merely wanted to obtain good quality holiday snaps! This camera allows me to do all I could wish for (and more!). Through a combination of optical and digital zoom, you can get an ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, clear display, responsive, quality product

Disadvantages Disadvantages Standard memory stick is not big enough

I really love my P10 - having used other people's makes and models it makes you appreciate the quality of the camera. It's easy to use in fully automatic 'Point-and-click' mode, but gives you control over focussing (focussing distance), image brightness, etc. if you want it. It is always responsive - none of that waiting around for a picture to appear when you want to flick through your snaps. The display screen is bright and clear, and the rechargable battery last for ages... ok, up to 90 minutes when taking pictures, or more if you're just displaying them. The battery is quick to recharge ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, sure shot, amazing pictures everytime and for those who want to be David Baily, this has a range of special little features that will enhance your pictures.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Memory sticks are costly

I've had my Sony for nearly a year and wonder now how I ever lived without a digital camera. i have tried others and seen the quality of the pictures and I can honestly say that this little camera is truely marvellous! A simple point a click and hey presto you have a cracking picture which any professional could've taken. this camera is good for all as it can be as simple or as intricate as you choose. From a simple staight up aim and shoot to a menu that will have the techies heads spinning...the menu include options such as B&W shots, Sepia, sharpness ranges, timer, macro, 3x opitcal zoom ... more

    Advantages Advantages Excellent quality images

Disadvantages Disadvantages Shakes/Size can make it difficult to capture good shots

I've had this camera for just under a year. I purchased it when it came on to the market for a high price. It's a beautiful camera, the look and feel of it is great. It's light for a 5mpx camera, compact and easy to operate. However it takes a bit of skill to get this camera working for you - once you've mastered it however, it can't be beaten. Everyone is different when it comes to buying digital cameras, I would urge anyone about to make a purchase to get down to Curry's and Comet and try them out before buying/deciding. My camera takes a great quality photograph. However, on first use it is ... more

Advantages Advantages Very easy to use. Good quality. Impresses your friends!!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Accessories are expensive - leather case not included (£50+) and you WILL need a 128 meg memory stick.

I purchased this camera after my Minolta APS was stolen in April this year. I have found it easy to use, and the included memory stick made it very simple to get started. Depending on the size of memory card used, and the picture definition that you select, you can determine the number of pictures that you can take. I use a 128 meg card and find that at 3.1 definition I can fit around 50 still photos and a few minutes of MPEG movie onto the card. Picture resolution is good and Sony include their own photo software CD for you to download your pictures, although we tend to plug the camera ... more
