Just Brilliant

Advantages: small, light, battery life, speed, ease of use,
Disadvantages: the 8-step zoom...maybe?

I bought the Black limited edition version. Although the designs are essentially identical, the contrast of the controls on the back make them MUCH clearer. The shiny black finish is also "V" cool! Firstly the Battery life - 3hr 20mins for a Completely Dead to Full charge. Then theres a battery moniter on the LCD that tells you exactly how many minutes of use are left! Apparently a full charge gives ~200mins of usage - thats 1 min for every 1 min ...
...good! Second - Ease of use. Theres what can only be described as a "simple mode" - depicted by a green camera on the mode dial. Basically it defaults to full quality, and makes everything fully automatic. So simply, a well trained chimp with an attitude problem could use the camera in this mode ;-) Then in "P" (for program), "M" (Manual) and "SCN" (Scene) you get given the more advanced options such as exposure correction, Colour/B&W/Sepia, Quality, ...

Sony Cyber-shot was good idea

Advantages: ease of use, size and picture quality
Disadvantages: you need a really steady hand

...Digital camera would be the Sony cyber shot DSC P200 and let me explain why. Firstly the 7.2 megapixel quality was very appealing especially for a camera made by sony and at a good price tag. Having taken many videos and pictures with my camera i can say the 7.2 megapixel was a great investment as it really produces clear vibrant pictures. However the only down side is that you really have to hold the camera verryyyyyy still when taking pictures ...
...only down part is that sony along with just about every other camera dealer supplies a really poor 32mb memory card but that wasnt too much of an issue as a larger 512mb card is only £15 off the net. The camera has a whole host of features including red eye removal and close up shot and all the usual cool picture things which for ppl like me you'l never use but nice to know you have it. A very interesting feature is the fact you can change the ...

Survives an Apocalypse, but dust will kill it!

Advantages: Good lens, stunning pictures, brilliant battery life
Disadvantages: Poor worksmanship, cheap materials

It's a sad experience when a product that you have grown to love develops a fault, but this was precisely what happened. The camera was a dinky little unit, constructed of hard wearing metal, that simply oozed class and gave the impression it could survive an apocalypse. This was not to be, when a tiny piece of dust conquered the lens frame and made a home for itself on every one of my holiday shots. Convinced that a cheap little repair would get ...
...when the repair estimate was £45 +, a quarter of the price of the camera, which was only 11 months old. All it needed was a little spring cleaning inside the lens, but alas, only a complete mook would pay this much for the service. A quick trip to Jessops the camera specialist's reveal that the model P200 has a 'higher than usual' failure rate, with the on site specialist claiming that the lens was 'very' susceptible to dust primarily because of ...

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P200/B

Advantages: Compact and lightweight, excellent battery life
Disadvantages: fairly basic range of features

...kodak and opted for the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P200. This model comes in a black version which is priced higher than the silver version but comes with an additional battery, sony case and memory stick case. The camera has all the features of the normal P200 and the overiding factor which made me chose this model was the battery life. Having had a digital camera now for over 5 years I have found that their biggest downfall is the battery life. My KODAK ...
...shots before the battery warning light would come on. This would necessitate carrying copious amounts of spare batteries along and would often need changing at that crucial moment that you really wanted to capture. So far, using this camera I have shot well over 100 pictures with the battery still saying over an hour left to use (the battery meter actually gives you time left which is handy). The camera is fairly limited if you want to be a David ...

...a 512MB seperate memory card- Sony only supplies a 32MB one which is grossely insufficient. A 512MB card costs about £50 but at the moment you can buy up to 2GB for around £130 if you search online. In the UK i have seen the camera itself in Dixons for around £230 or so. I bought it having decided I needed something better than point and click for my holiday. From the beginning I have found this a fantastic camera. Having taken it back to the hotel ...
...late afternoon and found it intuitive to use. The picture quality is as expected by a 7.2MP camera. On my PC I can zoom in and make out the smallest of features and a slideshow on screen is flawless. I took my holiday photos to my local photoshop and they extracted them from the supplied 512MB Memory Stick Pro Duo. Printed on 4"x6" paper I found them perfect- far superior to my girlfriend's prints on regular film. Noting the Memory Stick I felt ...

AMAZING

Advantages: fantastic detail excellent colour saturation
Disadvantages: price

bought one of these on its release day after a long time studying the reveiws on the web for the p150 and the only difference between the two is a 2 inch lcd . i,ve been into digi photography for some time now and i have been using a Kyocera S5R with some good results but every photo i took with it needed some editing eg: contrast / saturation etc so i decided to get myself a new toy the P200. so far ive taken 160 photos with it on a weekend away ...
...and some close up stuff . took the card into boots directly from the camera and had them printed . all i can say is very impressed indeed fantastic detail excellent colour saturation and superb sharpness and the close up stuff is superb . Revamped, but not much has changed

Advantages: 7.2 mega pixel!
Disadvantages: Not the smallest of cameras

The sony p200 is the replacement for the p150, and not a great deal has changed. The main improvement is that the size of the LCD screen has increased to 2". This makes it much easier to compose and review your shots. Although the spec hasn't changed a great deal, this is still a fantastic camera. The p200 has 7.2 effective mega pixel which is the biggest resolution to date in a compact digital camera. With this size resolution you would easily be ...
...also has sound. Like most sony models it has a robust metallic casing, which means this camera can take a knock or two. The rechargeable lithium battery also gives excellent results and is unlikely to run out on you during the day. The new model is slightly curvier than the older one, making it look slightly more appealing, but ultimately, not a great deal has changed. At this price (approx £250) you may be slightly more tempted by the much smaller ...

Good Quality Point-and-Shoot Digital Camera

Advantages: Small, Easy to Use, Good Quality Pictures
Disadvantages: Needs large Memory at 7.2 MP

When upgrading from our 2MP Sony DSC camera the obvious choice was to upgrade to the latest version to avoid buying memory cards. After reviewing this camera alongside a Kodak and Nikon the Sony won. The reason that we chose the Sony was for the pixels, easy setup features for exposure settings (snow, low light etc) and size despite the Sony being slightly more expensive. The theory about not buying memory didn't work out due the size of the photographs ...
...card which gave me 9 pictures. Therefore there was a requirement for more memory. Despite the extra outlay the picture quality is superb. The difference is very noticable with our old camera and my parents 4MP HP. For a keen amature photgrapher who wants to try different things without going to the expense and learning how to use a Digital SLR this is a good compromise. The dials and controls are easy to use and with a Large LCD it makes the taking ...

Love at first click - but be sure to shop around

Advantages: Small, light, great battery life, excellent pictures
Disadvantages: So small I keep worrying I've lost it

I took a long time over buying my DSC 200. I'd met someone on holiday who had one - he was a very teckie German computer nerd who rated it highly. I then took nearly a year trying it out in shops and shop-botting it regularly before finally succumbing to a good deal at Dixons Duty Free. Tragedy - within a month of buying it , I lost it at the company Christmas party. Desperate disappointment - memory stick, case, camera - £275 down the drain. So ...
...and the prices were excellent. My recommendation is to really shop around - you can save a lot. There has been an offer running in a lot of the weekend papers for case, camera and 512 mb all for £199 Just took the camera on a week's walking trip in Turkey. Fantastic. After a week and several hundred shots, the battery was still half full. I use 3mb for most of my holiday snaps and got them printed at a booth in the local Morrisons. I'll be honest, ...

Well worth your money!

Advantages: High pixel quantity and very easy to work!
Disadvantages: Focusing light can be annoying.

Although it is the first digital camera I have owned I found it a doodle to get used to. The controls are simple, as soon as you pick it up u will be well away. The high 7.2 mega pixel quantity makes the photo look very well detailed. The best mega pixel quantity around for your money. If i was to buy a camera again this would be the one. The only thing that I have found that could slightly dented its glory is the bright orange focusing light, that ...
...(especially in the dark), they wont stop seeing an orange do for quite some time. Apart from that small flaw the camera is brilliant. I paid £320 for mine a while ago with a 128mb card (stores approx, 45 pics) but if you search around you can get them for alto cheaper now. So if you haven't got one, get one! ...

Fantastic camera for quality and use

Advantages: Easy to use, excellent screen
Disadvantages: Need a case to avoid cosmentic damage

This is my second digital camera, and after having an excellent experience using a Minolta previously, I was reluctant to move away from that make. However, the price of a 7.2 megapixel camera from a tried and trusted name (Sony) was too much of an offer to resist. And what a camera they have brought out. First of all, use of the camera is very easy. Importing the pictures, which can be a hassle, is dead easy, simply by removing the memory stick ...
...your photo software do the rest. Then sit back and admire the quality of the pictures taken by the camera. From previous experience, the colour, brightness and contrast of a photo has needed quite a bit of touching up with the relevant photo suite I am using. Not with this little marvel. The flash on red-eye removal mode works a treat - you only seem to be plaugued by red eye when someone is very close and looking directly into the camera. Aside ...

Advantages: picture quality, ease of use, carl zeiss lense

...years and to my mind Sony have never bettered this camera in this type of camera (ie. compact digital) The picture quality is fantastic. The macro works well on close ups and the variety of settings is enough to keep most people happy though to be honest I rare move past the automatic setting and then only to the various scene settings. ie. beach, snow, action etc. The video is good and I have even shown it through my Panny DMREX75 which is great ...

...spends around £200 on this Sony will feel cheated. It's build quality is superb, and it has a proper optical lens made by experts. I've owned mine for around 2 months, and it's never let me down. Battery life is outstanding - around 3 hours - and rechargeable in around 2 hours from flat. It's been used inside and out, and in temperatures down to -20C. It seems to offer 3 different modes: 1) Idiot mode - just point and shoot 2) With a little ...
