I have owned a DSC-73 for about 8 months, having seen it advertised as a bundle with batteries for a very good price on a popular internet site. I have found that the camera is very good at taking still photo's and using PC manipulation software ie. cropping or zooming will not generally ruin the quality. I particularly wanted a reliable camera and having read on the net that some other makes (not Sony) have mechanical shutter failure problems ...
...The fact is I have not had any cause for concern, enjoying a trouble free time. The DSC-73 does have some down sides to its use. Shutter lag, which is non existent in 35m cameras gets in the way a little, which is ok when you are taking still shots. Action shots are so much harder to get right, relying heavily on the use of the lcd screen to preview snaps. The video function is best described as a fun facilty rather than a serious tool. I have owned this camera for just over a year now and I have found it to be very useful (especially once I had upgraded my memory stick to 512MB). I have taken over 1000 photos so far of everything from family get-togethers to holiday scenes. The pictures are great quality, particularly when set to 4 mega-pixels, however the lower settings are perfectly acceptable for everyday use. It also has the option to record video. Although not great quality ...
...great feature to have as there are some moments in life that cannot be captured in just one photo. With a 512MB memory card on the standard quality setting you can record up to 11 minutes, and on the lowest quality setting you can record around 3 hours worth! My only problem is that the batteries run down quite quickly (although I think that this is due to the fact that I take so many videos) and I would recommend that you invest in a spare pair ...
