The Sony DAV-DZ260 is a brilliant piece of kit.
I have had this sound system for over 6 months now and my main uses for it vary. I use it to:
- Play and Upscale my DVD's to near high definition to play on my 32 inch LCD tv.
- Use the optical input on it to play my xbox 360 with 5.1 surround sound.
- Use the audio in/3.5mm jack to play music, play games and watch movies on my computer
All of these tasks are executed with the precision and level ... ...sound system, being TrueHD ready on 0.1% of each channel this is moving towards being ready for blu-ray.
The sound is crisp and clear as well as being really rather loud and undistorted at a higher range of volume. The volume only goes up to 35, and its hard to hear anything after 30.
And even then it is bearable.
I have never been tempted to use the USB connection on the front of the sony, as it does not appeal to me as i already play the music ...

Advantages: Best quality sound! Disadvantages: room shakes (not good for the neighnours!)
...can get, Its made by Sony who have a brillant reputation, You also have a usb cable at the back so you can plug in your iPod so you have AMAZING sound, trust me it is! (you can also play photo slide shows on it!)
The price is VERY good for the quality of the product, I would pay alot more if i knew how good it was when i shopping and saw it! Its is easy to install (even for someone who isnt used to setting up dvd players!)

I have two of these, one in the lounge and one in my sons bedroom. I paid £134 each from Empire Direct, there is a store near me so no shipping costs.
I would agree with the other reviews that its good value for money, and that its a great DVD player with nice sound quality, however when I plug my ipod in, the sound quality is not great. The speakers dont cope that well with constant heavy base so if you are getting one for home cinema then its ... ...and like your sound to be 'crisp' then you are probably going to be dissapointed. It gets worse as you turn up the volume and while its more than loud enough for a movie its would be embarassingly poor if you were having a party!
Its nice looking, easy to operate and very user friendly but its no replacement for a decent stereo. However I have been told that if I just replaced the speakers with some better quality ones from Richer Sounds or a good ...

Look. If you want a surround sound system just buy this one. It's loud, sounds great if you have a console plugged into it through the optical input and for the price (got mine at Comet for £130) you can't beat it.
You could spend a few hundred pounds more but what for? I would take the Pepsi challenge with most other 5.1's. The USB input for ipod's and such is brilliant. You get full control over the ipod using the remote control for the dvd player. ... ...to run a games console and sky + as there's only one audio input but so what. I agree with the other reviews, if you have nice neighbours you may fall out with them as the sound can get very loud.
Glad I got one. Highly recommend it. ...

advantage: Good sound quality disadvantage: None This is the best one i have ever seen . The sound clarity is awesome it has many options ,,you can even plug in your ipod ,,it has a usb port in which you can plug in your ipod .Definitly you would like this if you are a music lover .
