Advantages: Great value, easy to use DVD Disadvantages: Not multi-region
...you would expect from a Sony DVD player. It happily plays DVD-R, VCD, DVD-RW, DVD (although only region 2). It only has play / stop controls on the machine itself but the remote control has the standard play, pause, fwd etc. and is easy to use with nice-sized buttons (again a bonus if you don't have the nimblest of fingers).
To access the player setup and other features such as zoom, smoothscan and subtitles the player has a (fairly) intuitive on-screen ... ...this a little bit confusing but with a bit of tuition from my 19 year old brother they soon learnt the basics. Strange how it's always the youngest member of the household who picks up the electrical items first! The player comes with a years manufacturers guarantee.

Advantages: small, different Disadvantages: not multi region
The sony picot is completley different to most of the dull boxed shape dvd players on the market, you can even change its looks. Its much nicer to look at then the normal players and sits very happily on my bookcase.
This is not really a main dvd player but is a stunning second dvd player for the bedroom etc... the picture quality is excellent and the sound quality is very good, its very easy to use from the loading of the discs to the remote. The ...

Advantages: Looks different to most DVD players and is great VFM Disadvantages: is not multi regional
i first bought the Sony Picot DVD player before i left for my first year at university... i wanted a dvd player that was stylish and affordable as well as doing what it says on the package. the dvd player is as good as any other and the remote is easy to use. another good advantage is that it is light weight and can easily be moved around, this is good at university as you can watch dvds in communal areas, your own room, someone elses room... anywhere! ...
