    Advantages Advantages Small and portable

Disadvantages Disadvantages No LCD and difficult to find a permant home for

The Sony 'PICOT' as it's is called is a small stylish DVD player. It is very small in size as you can see from the picture which allows you to pick it up and plug it into any TV in the house or somebody elses. It's silver in colour and for those who like nokia phones you can change the front facia insert. ( 3 supplied and you can D/L from the net) The unit can play back DVD, CD, VCD, SVCD and MP3 (Menu scroll function on telly). It supports disks DVD-R, DVD-RW DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-R, CDRW, CDA and DVD. It also supports NTSC disks although it's not multi region player (unless you use a hack code ... more

    Advantages Advantages small, light

    Disadvantages Disadvantages wires

Having owned a standard 'box shape' design of DVD player for a little over a year and a half now, I purchased Sony's newest model of Picot, the DVPPQ2. This was a buy made mainly because of the players rather fancy and compact style, most notably the sleek, rounded flip-top design, and the customisable lid design inserts, which immediately set it apart from most other players on the market. Though this is a unique idea at present, changing of the customisable front lid inserts is a little fiddly, using a catch release system inside the lid that can put you off changing the covers on a regular ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small and compact

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as stylish as most DVD players

This is what to expect from such a well know company, with such a good reputation. I bought this a few months ago to use as a DVD player in my room, so that i didnt have to keep transporting the one from downstairs all the time. If you're like me and dont have the space to keep a big box next to the TV then this is great instead of a standard size one. The size is the main reason i bought it, because my room is cluttered and if I had anything else in their I would scream! The player itself, is wondeful. I have taken it round a few friends houses that don't have a DVD player so that we could ... more

Advantages Advantages small easy to use can be moved around easy

Disadvantages Disadvantages doesnt really fit any where not good as a permanent dvd player

i got one of these for christmas and i loved it when it came out of the box because its not the norm but when i tryed to fit it in my room it wouldnt go any where unlike normal dvd players that just slot in this one doesnt really fit but appart from that it's great it is so easy to set up and you can move it around as much as you want. i would say its more for kids because i have dropped mine lots of times and it works a treat so if you want a sturdy dvd played with out oll the confusing options that is portable then this is the one for you also if you dont want a hefty bill on your credit ... more

Advantages Advantages small, compact and very portable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages reduced funtionality

I am absolutely happy with the picture and sound quality, shame though its not multi-region, by the way ist also plays Music CDs. And it plays films and pictures recorded on a Sony camcorder. Though on a few occasion it stopped working after extensive use. Leaving it to cool down for a while seems to fix the problem. On the installation side, I did not bother reading the instruction the remote is self-explanatory and simple to use. The machine is what could be discribed as plug'n'play. I recomend it for people not keen on overly complicated technology. It is nicely designed and I had visitors ... more
