Advantages: Picture quality, price, upscaling, many features, slimline, plays everything Disadvantages: Won't play divx in 16:9
...smoother image.
This is Sony so the picture quality and compatibility are excellent. I've tried over 100 discs and all have played perfectly. The player also remembers and resumes from the last place on the disc you were watching. You can even remove the dvd and watch another one. When you put the first one back it will still remember and resume from that point.
The player I got was not multi-region out of the box but was easily made so using a ... ...my experience.
Via HDMI the player also exhibits much less overscan than what you would be used to with SCART. So this means the black bars that accompany a 2.35:1 dvd are slightly thicker. But this is good because it means you are getting more of the picture that was being originally cropped via SCART.
The NS76h can also play everything. From MP3 cds, audio cds, VCDs, SVCD, DIVX, it can handle everything. One can come across some occasional compatibility ...

Quick review of Sony DVP-NS 76
This DVD player is one of the best I have ever had, really good quality playback, lots of supported features. I recommend it totally! ...
Advantages: NICE PICTURE PLAYS MOST OF DVD AND GREAT FEATURES. Disadvantages: CAN'T EVEN SAY OF ANY.
...in the case of this Sony DVD player, it is not like that.
The picture quality is very fantastic in the sense that it almost gives you the real life image pictures. One amazing feature with the player is that it has the capabilities of remembering the last place that you stopped, that is very fantastic. The first time that I saw this DVD player probably I knew that I would buy it and on the other hand, the price is affordable for me to buy. Just ... ...the HD TVs.
The player also exhibits much less over scam through the HDMI and the black bars appears thicker
The audio cds , the mp3 cds, the vcds, and the DIVX all plays very well with the help of the NS76H that really handles every thing .
In my own case, using the 1 in 4 remote makes it feasible for it to play NTSC in particular.
Was not much happy with it when I found out that it does not play divx. This problem leads to the divx being stretched ...

Advantages: Upscales exisiting movies, Much cheaper than a BluRay player Disadvantages: Doesn't come with HDMI cable
...what you need.
The Sony DVPNS76HS, looks very much like just another DVD player. However it is capable of upscaling your existing DVDS to a level thats close to High Definition. Connecting this DVD through an HDMI connection will give you a much sharper image, remember however these are not true HD so dont try and compare the two.
It is a region 2 DVD player which means you can only play discs that are from UK and Europe. It comes as standard with ... ...you have any downloaded movies.
The price of these units are around £69, however you will also need to buy a HDMI cable which runs at about £20. There are other upscaling DVDs on the market, however the sony seems to give you a much sharper and smoother image. ...

Advantages: image quality, price, HDMI connection, menu Disadvantages: the remote a bit bulky, with not enough tv controls
I own a Bravia 40" V series and an upgrade in the area was necessary. as HD DVD and blue ray are toddlers, I needed an affordable solution before I go for a HD player in about a year.
so I went for this player - having thoroughly compared it to denon 1730 and pioneer 696AV for about two hours at the dealer, much to their despair. to my surprise, it surpassed the denon in image quality and sounded a bit under but comparable to it. the pioneer was ... ...home, plugged it and played it. my SD dvds looked like never before. I played batman begins, minority report and madagascar. I was speechless. incredible scaling, sharp crisp image (especially the 3D animation feature), great sound, easy intuitive menu, lots of other features for the price. also played an xvid file from our wedding - worked flawlessly. MP3s and jpegs too. the HDMI connection is a dream AND a must. mind you the cable quality is key ...

Advantages: great value for money, fantastic upscaler Disadvantages: needs to have firmware upgraded to play DIVX in 16:9
from my extensive knowledge of these modern dvd players i have to say this is one of the better HDMI upscalers for under £200 and despite its out of box inability to play DIVX in 16:9 i can be upgraded to do so and this is very easy and does nothing but improve the quality of the player. a good quality HDMI cable is essential better the cable the better the picture its that simple. depending on the resolution of your HD TV i would recommend using ...
