Advantages: Strength, more features than rival M3788e Disadvantages: poor reliability, looks,Voda network.
I bought my Ericsson A1018s only to use for a couple of months, as it’s vital I have a mobile phone as I commonly receive important calls. And plus I would be lost without one as I don’t have a landline phone. I bought mine for £29.99 after spending £40 at Safeway’s. First impressions of this phone were generally good, as it seemed generally tough and reliable. I was very happy with it until I upgraded about a month later to a Nokia ... ...2 stars. I used another Ericsson A1018s, which did not belong to me, the reception quality on that was good for the price but no rival for any Nokia.
Charge. ** 2 star.
When the phone was bought new a full 36-hour charge was recommended and done. In the phones early days (the first month!). I got about 2.5 days charge. A full charge would last about 3-3.5 hours. A belt catch is as standard on all A1018s’s. The clip is very strong and durable.

Advantages: Big, sturdy, dialable, functional, well made brick! Disadvantages: Hard to find accessories. Doesn't make a cup of tea.
I'm a no-nonsense kinda guy. I want a phone that works, rings people, texts, and won't get damaged in a Laserquest arena. 2 months and a few tokens later, and I've got meself an A1018S. No regrets.
The main reason I got the A1018S is because it is solid. Really rock solid. I've dropped it down two flights of stairs, stood on it, and had my cousin try ripping it to pieces. It isn't even scratched. Which fits my lifestyle as a teen perfectly. I run ... ...The second reason I got an A1018S is because of it's size. Now, most people nowdays are very vain. They want the small, fashionable one with the cool cover and the massive price tag. Not me. I've got big thumbs. Really big thumbs. Big hands, too. I like to be able to dial and walk without needing a dialing wand, so I got a phone big enough to cope with.
The last main reason I got an A1018S is becuase of it's functionality. It doesn't waste it's ...

Advantages: Should be pretty cheap by now. It does the basics. Disadvantages: Screen is susceptible to damage. Very chunky.
...Luckily we have an Ericsson registered phone shop near to us that is able to (in general) deal with anything that went wrong fairly quickly.
If you can still find this phone in the shops it will be pretty cheap now. If all you need to do with your phone is make and receive calls and send the odd text message then you could do worse. If you're looking for something that will make a statement to people, then I'd avoid this one. ...

Advantages: Cheap, quite small and light, good functions and layout. Disadvantages: No fascias, some problems, no games, putting money in is sometimes difficult.
Ok, this model is getting a bit old now and they,ve stopped selling the fascias for it, but if you're still considering buying this phone, I would chose another.
I got this phone first about 6 months ago and was happy to get it for £30 with hands-free kit and other stuff, but a couple of weeks of use and the phone's screen stops to work. The phone worked but I couldn't see anything. They happily sent me a replacement after a few free calls but a ...

Advantages: Cheap, good features, reliable, available on all networks Disadvantages: Not for those making a fashion statement
...an affordable price then the Ericsson A1018s is a great choice.
My wife has recently bought one on the Vodafone Pay as You Talk Network. She paid just £16.99 for it; currently it retails at most shops at £29.99. The deal she got was through the Index Catalogue Home Shopping Service. The phone came with £10 of calls so the actual cost of the phone was £ 6.99.

After all if you are not looking to make a fashion statement with this phone and want it solely for the purpose for which it was intended; making & receiving phone calls then you really could do a lot worse than this phone.
Battery life is excellent, charging time is short, and talk time and standby are comparible with most of todays phones. You should get about 2 - 2.5 days ...

Advantages: plays tunes, changeble face, small, easy to use, text name function Disadvantages: looks a bit outdated now, faces hard to come by, tone not very loud
I bought the a1018 as a pay as you go mobile, so i found that a few of the functions, such as network selection were unobtainable to me. Saying that, I've had no trouble with this nifty little phone. Ok- so it might not be microscopic, be able to surf the net, or play the latest dance tunes, but it's still a very functional little phone. ...would be a Mini. Obviously Ericsson felt their successful design need not be changed, and over the years has taken the original phone and just refined it and tuned it. (and perhaps costed it down in some departments).
This was the original 'Mars bar' phone setting the standard in size, of course these days it is considered a 'brick' but the hallmarks are still there. Regarding the quality of construction this phone is also solid like a brick. If ... ...budget phone. Older Ericsson models of this design were criticised for their tiny displays, the 1018s addresses this issue and gives the user a nice big display with big chunky graphics and nice big numbers - good if you have impaired eye sight. Not so good though are the letters (the numbers are OK) on the keys, they are tiny and impossible to read at night. A minor quibble is that the phone takes rather a long time to fire up when it has been powered ...

Advantages: Price, Tunes, Neat little phone, don't have to worry about vouchers all the time. Disadvantages: Can't think of any
My husband bought this phone because other ones that he has used just don't compare to this one.
The price of the phone was rather cheap also which made us think that the quality of the phone wasn't going to be as good. What we like about this phone is that its nice and compact and you don't have to worry about forgetting to get another voucher for it, you can buy just the one voucher in a year but you have to at least make one phone call on the ... ...think.
When someone phones you on it you can choose what tune you want your phone to make and last night (12th August) my husband found a site that is full of tunes for the phone and he chose Mission Impossible for his tune. Advantages: Everything, cheap and easy to use Disadvantages: None
I myself got the coke promotion phone with the ring pulls and I am very pleased with the phone. I espically like the composer on the phone which allows you to change your ring tone to a chart hit or just make one up yourself. There are plenty of phone web sites that list all the ring tones for all nokia and ecrisson phones. I would say that for value for money the A1018's are great fro the budget as it is also a pay as you go - not a stuck in for ...

Advantages: Customisable ringtones & fascia Disadvantages: Lack of features - especially external speaker
...becomes apparent. Most importantly, the Ericsson doesn't have the speakerphone capability and so you may want to invest in an additional hands free kit. There's no vibro-alert either and my impression is that the battery life is perhaps 25% lower. On the plus side, it's quite fun to be able to key in your own ring tones and the availability of clip on fascia will appeal to many users. Sound quality is reasonable, but it has to be said that some more ...
Advantages: cheap loads of add ons Disadvantages: chunky huge breakable ariels
I've had this phone for about 6 months now, its cheap and has a good range of accessories to go with it (keyboard, hands free etc) I've yet to see a new cover to go on it apart from a plain red one or the blue and purple that come with it.
The composer is pretty good but it lacks the ringtone features of the Nokias.

Advantages: face can be changed, composer function Disadvantages: size of phone and ariel
I got my A1018 mobile phone through the coke promotion. I collected tokens, 60 of them and sent a cheque for £30 to get hold of this phone but it wasn't as good as I hoped. The best thing was that it had a composer function which allowed me to personalise the ring. The worst thing was the massive ariel and the size. Advantages: cheap, light Disadvantages: structure of menue not ideal
The Ericsson A1018 is a nice phone to use...once you got used to it. When I first got it I was not too impressed. I thought the menue structure was not very logical. But after having used it for a bit it didn't bother me at all anymore.
The different songs you can choose from are all quite nice (unlike my past phone!). I especially like the feature that lets you compose your own melody. The Ericsson A1018 is very light and small. It has a nice design ...
Advantages: Cheap, and small enough Disadvantages: Few special features
I've used quite a number of mobiles, due to my friends owning an extensive range, but this is the one I own.
I got the phone for free on contract, and have to pay a relatively small fee per month. This phone is extremely common as it's so cheap, but don't expect too much of it. It doesn't have many special features, but what do you expect for such a small price. You can program in your own ringing tone, and change the cover, and that's about the ...
