Advantages: Cheap, quite small and light, good functions and layout.
Disadvantages: No fascias, some problems, no games, putting money in is sometimes difficult.

Ok, this model is getting a bit old now and they,ve stopped selling the fascias for it, but if you're still considering buying this phone, I would chose another. ...an affordable price then the Ericsson A1018s is a great choice. My wife has recently bought one on the Vodafone Pay as You Talk Network. Disadvantages: looks a bit outdated now, faces hard to come by, tone not very loud

I bought the a1018 as a pay as you go mobile, so i found that a few of the functions, such as network selection were unobtainable to me. Saying that, I've had no trouble with this nifty little phone. Ok- so it might not be microscopic, be able to surf the net, or play the latest dance tunes, but it's still a very functional little phone. ...would be a Mini. Obviously Ericsson felt their successful design need not be changed, and over the years has taken the original phone and just refined it and tuned it. (and perhaps costed it down in some departments). This was the original 'Mars bar' phone setting the standard in size, of course these days it is considered a 'brick' but the hallmarks are still there. My husband bought this phone because other ones that he has used just don't compare to this one. The price of the phone was rather cheap also which made us think that the quality of the phone wasn't going to be as good. I myself got the coke promotion phone with the ring pulls and I am very pleased with the phone. I espically like the composer on the phone which allows you to change your ring tone to a chart hit or just make one up yourself. There are plenty of phone web sites that list all the ring tones for all nokia and ecrisson phones. Disadvantages: Lack of features - especially external speaker

...becomes apparent. Most importantly, the Ericsson doesn't have the speakerphone capability and so you may want to invest in an additional hands free kit. There's no vibro-alert either and my impression is that the battery life is perhaps 25% lower. On the plus side, it's quite fun to be able to key in your own ring tones and the availability of clip on fascia will appeal to many users. I've had this phone for about 6 months now, its cheap and has a good range of accessories to go with it (keyboard, hands free etc) I've yet to see a new cover to go on it apart from a plain red one or the blue and purple that come with it. The composer is pretty good but it lacks the ringtone features of the Nokias. The ariel is huge and breaks pretty easily if you sit down with it in your pocket (I've done that a few times) but you can get flashy ... Read review

I got my A1018 mobile phone through the coke promotion. I collected tokens, 60 of them and sent a cheque for £30 to get hold of this phone but it wasn't as good as I hoped. The best thing was that it had a composer function which allowed me to personalise the ring. The worst thing was the massive ariel and the size. this is my 3rd phone i have had and is by far the best even though i know its not the best of phons. before i had a phillips c12 and i hated the thing.i like this one much better and am quite happy to keep it for a while yet. i know some cheats for the c12 like how to send free txt msgs but u have to read my opinion on them to get that so i can get more money like that ok....also read my other opinions plzzzz ... The Ericsson A1018 is a nice phone to use...once you got used to it. When I first got it I was not too impressed. I thought the menue structure was not very logical. But after having used it for a bit it didn't bother me at all anymore. The different songs you can choose from are all quite nice (unlike my past phone!). I've used quite a number of mobiles, due to my friends owning an extensive range, but this is the one I own. I got the phone for free on contract, and have to pay a relatively small fee per month.
