Sleek, stylish, sexy and cool (Matrix style) but with an achilies heel, a dodgy button on the side.
I've had a variety of different phones over the past few years, but let me tell you i don't keep going back to them unless i like them.
This phone really is stylish, it's ultra light and can fit in the smallest pocket (the only problem with this is the tendancy to lose it around the house.) Its also remarkably 'expensive looking' for the money, and ... ...the pub when they see it.
That said its coolest feature is also one of its let-downs, the phone has a flipdown reciever lid, that moves down by pressing a small button on the side of the phone. I have noticed over time this mechanism has begun to get loose and i wouldn't be surprised if they've had a few returns. Theres also a fantastically useful 'vibrate only' feature, which i ALWAYS use in lectures etc.
There's all the usual features u'd expect ...

When the battery on my faithful Ericsson GH688 finally died, I realized that it was almost as expensive to replace the battery as to but a new phone. I went for the later option. I was so pleased with the performance of the 688, I never doubted the reliability of Ericsson and bought the T28.

This phone was my second one, I’m really not sure how much it costs as I got mine free with a contract.
It is really light about 60 grams. It comes in a few colours, grey, beige, and fern green. It has a great design although the flip can get in the way. And it has a huge aerial.
It has a standby time of about 180 minuites which isnt very long, i'm not sure how long the talktime is.
The one thing that bugged me was it was so unreliable, you could ... ...it would just turn off. The worst I experienced is while phoning someone I could hear them but I couldn’t be heard.
Even though its screen was only a thin slit it had 2 pretty cool games on it. Tetris, as we all know I don’t need to explain. While the Tetris game was good you had to hold the phone sideways and the corner of the flap digs into your hand but it was a very clear screen and you could see what you were doing. This phone is brilliant.
Right from the off, it will satisfy your needs from a phone and constantly surprise you with nice features.
Lets start with the fun. You get two games.."only two", I hear you moan...oh but what 2 games to choose, Solitare (patience to some of you) and tetris. These two games are addictive and you will wonder what you ever did on those long bus journeys home.
It has voice activated dialing, which you may say you won't use, ... ...for the voice dailing, when that number rings you it plays it to tell you who is ringing you before it begins the ring tone. How impressed will your friends be when they here "Dave's Mobile" before the phone even starts ringing.
There is of course a veritable feast of ring tones, not to mention some slots to record you own in. there are a million and one web sites online to get them from. Try www.mobilemelodies.com if you want to change you mundane ...

Heralded as the smallest Ericsson mobile phone ever, the T28s has proved to be an excellent all round phone for me. The T28s is wonderfully small, extremely light, and despite its dimensions is packed with more features than you are ever likely to need.
My T28s came with a Li-polymer battery which is good for about 60hours standby use, but not outstanding these days, however credit is due to just how thin and light the battery is which clearly helps ... ...the T28s is the active flip, no need to press a button to receive or end a call, simply open or close the flip. Vibrating alert is also present, however it has proved to be a little week, but all things considered fairly noticeable on such a small device.
I have only experienced the phones software 'freezing' on one occasion, shortly after I bought one. Since then the T28s software has been a pleasure to use, very clear, and a well presented manual ...

After a couple of weeks with my snazzy T28s, imagine the words I was using when the thing went dead - totally dead. Not happy. When I phoned to complain, there didn't seem any surprise on the customer service adviser, nor any dispute.
A new phone was despached to me and the old one taken away within a couple of working days. Not bad, but still not a perfect start to Ericsson ownership.
And now the good news, it's great!
So small is this phone ... ...without damaging your merchandise when you sit down. Yes, the ariel is bulky by comparison to some other makes, but the body of the phone is so small, you don't care - that's how cool you look!
It's a flip phone and the action takes a little getting used to as it's a bit stiff at first. Push the little "button" and the flip opens. If, like me, you have the voice activation option in play, the phone blips and asks for the name of the caller you want ...

Ericsson's latest, and (they claim) smallest, lightest phone around.
After a day of having the phone, I almost lost it down the back of the setee - whether a good point or not is down to you.
Features wise, for a SMALL phone, it's surprisingly easy to use.
It has a whole new software than the previous Ericsson models (T10/18) and an electro-luminescent backlit display - giving a much more even light, less harsh on the eyes (for those long dark ... ...'active flip' is great. Not just a piece of plastic that covers the keys (as on the older models), but a spring loaded piece of plastic, in which the microphone is housed, and used to receive / end calls.
Voice activated dialling is again much improved that the T18 - even using a personal Hands Free kit on a train, it would still dial 9 / 10 times...
The vibration alert isn't the most effective - but then, on such a small, light phone, this can't ...

I've only had the phone for a few weeks now and I have been nothing but impressed. As a previous Nokia freak, I surprised even myself by going for an Ericsson this time. I just saw it and knew it had to be mine. Even as I was opening my box, I had reservations about ease of use & quality, but these were soon dispelled.
The new menu system is excellent, the sortcuts make the most frequently used options easy to navigate. Games are a nice added feature.
... ...but again, I was proved wrong. As long as you pick unique enough identifiers for the 10 options, you should have no problems. It even works welll in my particularly noisy car, at high speeds, with a personal hands free kit!
The only minor disadvantage compared to other phones in it's price range is the battery life, but as I rarely stray very far from a 12v or 240v power source, this isn't a problem.
If you want a phone that you really can carry ...

This phone is small and incredibly thin due to its very slim battery. Infact it's only a sliver of material. The phone has a magnesium alloy body so is very rigid and really does fit into a shirt pocket, being very light too. The buttons are a bit on the slim side, and are a bit fiddly to operate with one handed operation, but I guess that is a consequence of miniturisation. Buttons are hard plastic (I prefer soft tactile keys) and the flap is active ... ...a case is used sometimes the flap doesn't engage back into home position due to the thickness of the flap cover on the case.
Display is a bit on the small side too, the words 'vodafone' cannot fit across the display only 'voda' features, must be intentional with the T28's software?
Standby and talktimes are a bit on the low side, but is technically due to the fact they wanted to make the battery very slim. It's half the industry standard these ...

What can I say. I have had the Ericsson T28 for 2 months now, and I have had to have it replaced 6 times under insurance. Well, what went wrong??....what didn’t go wrong. My most common fault is that the microphone becomes disconnected so that no one can hear me, yet I can still hear them. This has resulted in many embarrassing silences for people calling me. I know this is a common problem as it has happened to friends to, and it is reasonably ... ...take it in to be fixed to having to get it replaced. Another problem, common to Ericssons is the way the phone powers out, or turn off without you turning it off. This is very annoying, and it usually happens just before you answer a call, meaning people are often cut off.
My other main dislike is the very high radiation it emits. At 1.27 SAR rating it is much more than a phone say like the Nokia8850 which only emits 0.22 SAR. You notice this high ...

Advantages: Value Disadvantages: Somewhat delicate to use.
Controversial design of T28 creates Love-It or Hate-it argument. Yet, nobody argues that it look exclusive, combining rich materials (magnesium chassis, and tasty color option). Buttons location are quite spreadaway, which is good for individuals with big hands (although the *, #, and the 0 buttons are a bit cramped due to the flip). Display lighting is excellent, in which it spreads evenly, pleasing to the eyes (green lighting is healthy for your ... ...exposed to direct sunlight, too). T28 may not have the smallest footprint, yet it feels slim in the shirt pocket, which is more important than being small The T28 is as quick as other Ericsson phones to find signal. Although the antenna is somewhat sensitive (touch it, and you see the signal loses 1-2 bars), signal reception is excellent. Most company mobiles are either cheap, cheerful and about a million years out of date with a battery life that only just beats that of a Mayfly, but it was quite a nice bonus to receive this cute little Ericsson T28s.
Ok so its a few months old now and probably doesn't have the same kind of kudos as the latest Nokia Series. However, since its a free company phone I'm not really complaining.
The most obvious thing is its compactness; so small its ... ...probably lose it amongst all the clutter.
The menu options are very extensive and offer both the usual goodies (millions of irritating jinngles & downloadables); as well as timers, alarms, reminders, stopwatch etc etc etc. I'm quite sure there's a load more but I just can't be a**ed to check the etensive handbook
Of course the important thing is battery life. Well I can't really give a definitive answer having only owned the phone for about 2 weeks; ...

The T28 is a brilliant looking phone, its small light and has great features, however i seem to be having problems with mine. There has been many faults with it.
1. The phone regulaly locks up at random times of the day meaning that it is effectivley switched off in my pocket and the only way to get it back on is to take the battery off and put it back on again.
2. The phone switches its self off but this time it switches its self back on again ... ...it stays at the pin input mode in my pocket, effectivley off.
3. Problems with connection, the phone appears to be connected byt i cant hear my callers and they cant hear me.
4. Time & date resets about once a week.
i returned my phone and received another one however there is still a couple of the above mentioned faults. I have contacted ericson directly about it but have received no response yet. Friends of mine have not experienced the same ...

...feel it breaking... unlike the Sony CMD Z1, which can take a lot of punishment...
The T28 comes with 14 ring tones and a composer to compose your own tunes, obviously!
The battery stand by time is 50hrs, the bettery talk time is 210mins and it takes 120mins to fully recharge...
It has a flip cover... rather sexy...
The only phone i'll get instead of the Ericsson T28 is the Sony Z5 and maybe the Nokia 8210... ...
