The return of the Walkman

Advantages: Feature set is huuuge
Disadvantages: Its big, bad and heavy.

I bought this phone as an upgrade around 4-5 months ago, and have to say that despite its weight and iPod-aping white colour scheme it is one of the best phones I have used. I guess the question is, what does it do that's so great? APPEARANCE (vanity vanity vanity) Like I mentioned, the phone is iPod-white, which may or may not be to everyone's taste. It is dominated by a large and crisp (252 thousand colours I'm reliably told) screen, which swivels ...
...camera and speaker, whilst another smaller camera is visible just above the screen. The actual menu interface is very clear, with large icons, but the standard theme leaves much to be desired. Fortunately additional themes are provided, including animated ones and they are easily downloadable online (sadly I've grabbed a Louis Vitton one). FEATURES (it is a phone after all) Well first and foremost it's a phone, and a talented one at that. Basic ...

...I have opted for the Sony Ericsson W900 (i) 3G-enabled mobile phone, which is one of the latest phones available. To look at the W900 (i) is stylish and fun but at the same time it is a mobile phone with many capabilities. For the time being this phone is only available in white in the UK whereas black is the dominant colour in other countries, but I have to say the white is a strikingly clean white colour with the name 'Sony Ericsson' written in ...
...Then there is the Sony Walkman option - this is where the phone becomes an MP3 player and you can upload your favourite songs to the MP3 player use your phone in this way and you can also download songs to listen to using the 3G system. As with this phones predecessors, the W900i has an expandable storage capacity by way of using a memory stick, which start at a small 128 megabytes and currently go up to a 2-gigabyte. Basing storage of audio on the ...

Disappointed to say the least

Advantages: Sleek, modern appearance.
Disadvantages: 2 megapixel camera; No flash; Laggy functions; Poor quality editing software.

...and I thought going with Sony Ericsson, again, would be a sure bet, after all, my old W800 was a lovely phone, surely this would top it? Unfortunately I thought wrong. First impressions of this phone are, it's a tester. The new 'flip' technology is extremely laggy, and that's if it works at all, it's tempremental to say the least. Granted, the walkman feature has been updated, but the new 'shake to shuffle' feature is more of a 'rattle as hard as ...
...also only 2 megapixel?! Surely Sony Ericsson can do better than that, especially on a phone that's retailing at nearly £300. The quality of pictures is OK, if taken outside, and with adequate lighting. Numerous times I have taken a picture, and gone to check how it turned out, only to find it's blurry. So don't go moving your hand too quickly after taking one. The video capture function is fairly decent, the quality of them is very good, but again, ...

...have a play with the Sony Ericsson W910i, in a beautiful ruby red colour. When opening the box I was faced with no excess packaging - always a god send in the green-conscious age! There were two things in the box - a smaller box which contained the manual, charger, USB cable and headphones - and a bit of plastic which contained the phone and a USB dongle (which the memory card can be slotted into - an ingenious little gadget!) == The Phone == ...
...=== Buttons === Sony have opted against the touch screen type buttons for this phone, something for which I am grateful as I can't get the hang of those buttons! The 1-9, *, # and 0 buttons are slightly raised and even I (with my chunky fingers) can operate them adequately! Under the screen are the standard function buttons, two to use the options on either side at the bottom of the screen, a green and red button for calls, a menu button and a 'c' ...

Sony Ericsson W900i Introduction The Sony Ericsson W900i is one of the top end phones in today's market. It was released the 12th of December 2005 on the Vodafone network, but has mostly been available as a contract phone since then. The average price for a W900i can range from about £300 to £500 brand new, although the price will start to decrease soon as many competitor companies are releasing phones that finally challenge it. I personally received ...
...can be seen on the Sony Ericsson website: (http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pip3&zone=pp&pid=10333) Basically it has an amazing 2 megapixel camera with autofocus, digital zoom, photo light and video recording. The quality of the pictures is amazing and can easily be mistaken with those taken with an actual camera. I found the autofocus very useful as i don't have a steady hand when taken pictures, but even if you ...

I've owned the W910i Sony Ericsson Walkman phone (Havana Gold) for nearly a month. It is a very impressive phone, with all the standard requirements for a modern phone built in, with some interesting features and a few flaws. ...The phone has support for Sony M2 memory cards which I would recommend if you listen to music a lot. The media and walkman functions of the phone are excellent. When in media, rotating the phone horizontally changes the orientation of the screen, which is great for viewing photos and video. Music is organized into Playlists, Artists, Albums, Tracks which I much prefer to other phone models which just jumble all music together. Putting music onto ...

...evolution in mobile phone technology, Sony seem to be racing ahead in terms of quality, durability and overall aesthetics of their range. The new W900i is no exception to the rule. Sony seem to have advanced very quickly since the introduction of their debut Walkman phone the W800i which was traditionally shaped, but with the integration of a high spec CMOS camera, and advanced mp3 quality download and playback capabilities. ...2nd walkman phone released by Sony which was the W550i, a mark-up of the W800i because it featured a higher internal memory, and a unique design. The W900i followed suit with an astounding internal memory capability of 470 megabytes. The W900i also features a much larger screen, designed as a multi-media phone, this enables the capability to watch video files in much better quality than previous models allowed. This latest model also features the ...

Sure it looks nice, shiny and sexy just like any new phone should, but it fails to meet upto the build standard I've come to expect of Sony, I will be looking into getting it fixed as it is a decent phone, just not worth the £300+ that's being asked for it. ...think that this is where Sony Ericsson really shine, with the neatness of their menus in comparison to Nokia and Samsung etc. The menu has barely extended the T610 (my last phone) menu, except to add 3 extra options, which is fine because the screen is larger so it accommodates them easily. Luckily I found the theme available for free download online, but for some reason it has slowed it down a bit. ...of the Walkman series by Sony Ericsson, and is a combination of the memory and features of the W800i and the design of the W550i. This is Sony Ericsson's first UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) handset to be added to their Walkman range of phones. You can access the service easily from the phone menu. I found the menu system on the music section pretty straightforward and easy to organise into playlists and artists and all of that. It's not really a revolutionary piece of kit simply because it has a music player and loads of memory on the ...

The W900i is impressive to look at, a well styled phone. The menu system is intuitive and it is very easy to use all features of the phone without needing to refer to the user manual.
