The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is a phone I have had the privilege of using during the past four weeks, it came as part of a monthly O2 24 month contract package at £30 a month so I didn't pay for the handset separately. It is a well designed phone with an overall finish of brushed metal that makes the shell case feel solid and pleasing to hold in the palm of the hand. According Sony Ericsson, the battery life is supposed to last over 6 hours of talk time or browsing time. The Sony Ericsson X1 is the first in the new range of Xperia products by Sony Ericsson.
Although the product isn't released until 30th September 2008, I have had the pleasure to use one of the pre-production models for around two weeks. Whilst there are improvements on the launch model, I am confident that the pre-production model has given me an insight in to what to expect from this handset.
The X1 is the first, and possibly the last Sony Ericsson ... ...Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. Sony Ericsson have not yet commented on whether the handset can be upgraded to Windows Mobile 7, however it doesn't seem they plan to release any further Windows based handsets.
I've noticed quite a few mobiles/PDAs where the keyboard slides out sideways, and in that aspect the X1 doens't seem too different. However, it employs an 'Arc Slider' design, meaning the sliding process is somewhat 'curved'. It ...

I got this phone for my birthday as a contract phone.. It was a surprise and never expected to get something like that... I mean, the design does look very proffessional and stylish. It is thin but still quite big - suppose this is an advantage for me because it's easier to find in a big bag and harder to loose... This phone has many features as it is Windows, so it had microsoft office in it and lots of bits and bobs which to be honest i havent ... ...as its perfect for sending emails as it has a computer keyboard... Memory is ok but can always buy a memory card if it is not enough for you... However, sometimes the phone does take its time when im in a rush which is quite annoying... Don't know whether it just has too many features in it or whether i need to change mine to less faulty one... It is quite complicated to use, even when i lock it, it still manages to ring people and leave voicemails... ...

To start off I would like to say that this is the best phone I have ever owned. First of all the look of it is just amazing, its top notch. First time you touch it is amazingly easy to get used too. The menus are easily laid out, buttons easy to use, full QWERTY keyboard a added charm! As well as this it's light, small and hard to damage. So far have dropped it on pavement twice and still no scratches!
Really is an amazing phone and a must have for anyone. It used Windows Mobile 6.1 which is the best yet!
O2 Give this phone free on contract at Phones4U and the deals are very reasonable.
I give this phone 5/5 in everything. Visually it can not be beaten and software based it's the best smart phone I have used in years! ...

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 was my 2nd choice when it comes to the category of this phone. Before experiencing this phone I first own the Nokia 9500 and it happens to give me comfort in my business deals, but after a while I decided to use this phone Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1and felt the difference between the nokia communicator and this Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1. I can conclude that the Sony phone is better because of its many advantages.
First advantage ... ...like a mobile phone of a secret agent because of the waqy it was designed and the grip and comfort of using it.
Second is the internal features which gives the user the advantage of high resolution of touch screen. Another thing the smooth slide is great in function and the key pads are really soft and efficient in texting.
