Advantages: small and lightweight Disadvantages: No carry case included
...were I purchased my new Sony Handycam DCR DVD106E. It set me back at £234 but this wasn’t too bad seeing as though it is a Sony and I also got free delivery with that. It was ideal for my needs as it was quite small only measuring at 5.5cm wide, 13.1 cm long and standing at 8.9cm tall. Being a mum I have plenty of bits to carry round; nappies juice cups, wipes, you name it. So I was in need of something that was light to transport as I was carrying ... ...The only downside to the Sony camcorder has to be that you have to purchase the carry case separately at £10.86, the battery is long-lasting as it can last about an hour and a half on full charge, which is quite good as the majority of the time it will be turned on and off at various times. All in all I would recommend it to anyone who needs a new DVD camcorder!! 10/10 ...

Advantages: light, cheap, easy to use, great pictures and sound on playback Disadvantages: looks a bit cheap because of all the plastic
...we decided to buy the Sony Handycam DCR DVD106E and best of all, I got to look after it meaning I could play with it at home. How much for this great piece of hardware, only £279 and that I think is quite cheap, especially for a Sony.
Built from pretty lightweight plastic (that looks a a bit tacky) the Handycam only weighs 390 grams and is ideal for my needs. I can stand at the back of a room for long periods or move around freely to keep the circulation ... ...used the camera, it looked like a television picture, plenty of bright colour, clear defined edges and perfect sound pickup. With this in mind, plus the fact that it is easy to use, cheap and made by a reputable company the Sony Handycam DCR DVD106E is the best I've seen. ...

Advantages: Can't fault the camcorder (except startup speed) Disadvantages: Digital still camera may aswell not be on there - rubbish quality
..."moment". Unfortunately, unless you use Sony discs, there is a waiting period whilst the camera starts before you can record.
My other negative point is to do with the still, digital camera abilities. How fantastic that it has the ability to convert into a digital camera so that you don't need to carry two cameras around with you. Unfortunately, in my experience, and unlike the moving images, the pictures are terrible quality. I download my pictures ...

Advantages: Brilliant optical zoom, easy to use controls, comfortable in the hand Disadvantages: Slight noise transferred to sound when zooming quickly
...in a quick ad recommending Sony disks if you aren't using one. A minor annoyance, and easily ignored as it only lasts a few seconds.
Blank DVDs are formatted in the camera, which should be kept vibration-free for the 2 minutes or so this takes. However, holding it in my reasonably steady hand has been fine. Once the DVD is full, it takes the camera about 20 seconds to finalise it - again, keep the thing steady. I haven't tried re-using a DVD yet, ... ...good. The camera starts to show warnings when you have about 4 minutes of recording time left.
Battery life seems good, and meets the quoted 60-min time. There's an on-screen battery life indicator that you can turn off if you want to. I think I'll definitely invest in extra batteries and an in-car charger, because I can see me using this a lot while I'm out and about.
The only negative thing I've noticed so far is that rapid zooming can cause ...

What a great little camcorder. Once charged up, it's easy to use and easy to understand. The instruction leaflet is relatively straight forward compared to many others that need weight lifters to read them through.
The grey and black look might not appeal to everyone but it has a certain 'professional' finish that means you can quite confidently 'whip it out' on any occasion, point and 'shoot' !
Quality of picture is soooooo much better than the ... ...weren't bad) and it's easy to see the screen.
First indictations are that this is going to be a well used little recorder - quite suitable for school plays, graduation ceremony, general family 'stuff'. It's not going to challenge Hollywood, or even Bollywood for that matter, but at the current price of just over £200 it's an absolute gem of a camera and well worth the price !! ...
