Four hours or so later I was £890.00 worse off sat in front of our new Sony Wega wide screen TV. We tested the TV out by watching the Shawshank redemption on DVD. The picture is absolutely fantastic, pin sharp, excellent colour and no flicker at all. When first looking at the screen I think the screen is inverted because for the last 30 odd years all the TVs I’ve watched have had a curved screen. This ... ...as reliable as the other Sony equipment I’ve got it will only need replacing when the technology inside it becomes obsolete!
I paid £890.00 for the set, which came with a Free Sony DVD player and was £100 cheaper than the Sony Centre sale price. I could have bought the set for £100 less without the DVD player but in view of the fact that the DVD player is retailing at £170.00 I am better off taking the deal and selling the DVD player.

Advantages: You can watch films how they were made to be watched. Excellent picture quality.Surround Sound is great for movies like the Matrix and the Fifth Element. Disadvantages: Only 2 scart sockets can cause aggreviation, when you have a lot of extra equipment. Although you can loop them through the video.

This is my story skip to the end if you want info on what the tv is actually like.
I went around the internet for about 4 months before deciding at long last this was the TV for me. I had speculated over the fact that there are only 2 scart sockets on the back of the TV for quite a wile. But having made my mind up I proceeded down to the local Dixons to buy my new TV.
When ... ...and took the television out. I did not need the stand as I already had a cabinate to put the TV in.
I fiddled around for hours around the back to try all the different combinations of sockets and plugs.
The thing is I have got Sky Digital, a DVD player and a VCR, thus meaning I have 3 scart plugs but only 2 sockets. At first I went out to the shops and bought a 3 scart socket adaptor, but when I plugged the Sky and the Dvd into the TVs new adaptor ...

I contacted Sony recently (about a month ago) to enquire whether there was a software update available for this TV (as the newer models apparently have had these problems ironed out) however I have received zero response from them - which is apparently typical of Sony.
Other than that it is a good TV, it's just a shame Sony after sales don't answer their mail.
NB. It's now more than 2 years since I wrote this and I'm still waiting for ...
